"Sixth tier!..." an adventurer whispered in a tone of astonishment mixed with disbelief, his eyes widening as if he had seen a ghost.
The already bustling hall roared back to life, like the surface of a calm pond continuously pelted with large stones, its ripples never ceasing. Startled whispers, disbelieving murmurs, and exclamations of astonishment echoed each other, creating a deafening din.
Ainzach, the experienced Guild Master, frowned deeply. He stared at the young girl before him with an expression that clearly showed uncertainty and great doubt. The sixth tier was not something to be taken lightly. It was the highest limit of magic that humans were said to be able to reach. Someone capable of using magic of such a high level was an extremely powerful existence, one that no organization, not even a country, could ignore.
"Little girl," Ainzach said in an investigating tone, "it's easy to say those words, but can you provide convincing proof of your extraordinary claim?"
"Of course, Guild Master," Enri replied calmly yet confidently, bowing slightly as a sign of respect. "I am willing to accept any test of strength that the guild provides to prove my abilities."
Ainzach's eyes stared intently at Enri, trying to find any hint of falsehood or doubt in her innocent yet firm face. After a moment, he let out a soft sigh and said, "Alright. As it happens, I have a good relationship with the president of the Magic Guild in this city, Rakshiel. I will ask him to come and accompany me to witness your test. If everything you say is indeed true, I may not be able to immediately raise your team's adventurer level instantly, but I promise to give you special treatment in terms of mission assignments and future achievement accumulation."
"Thank you very much, President Ainzach!" Enri Emmot exclaimed in a relieved and joyful tone, bowing a little deeper to Ainzach to express her sincere gratitude.
Ainzach's expression softened slightly, and a faint yet genuine smile formed at the corner of his mouth. He had met many strong and talented people over the years, and often strength was proportional to arrogance. However, this young girl before him, despite claiming to possess extraordinary power, still showed humility and politeness. At that moment, Ainzach truly hoped that what Enri said was the truth.
"In that case, please follow me to the reception room upstairs. You can wait there comfortably," Ainzach said, turning around and gesturing for Enri to follow him.
"Yes," Enri replied briefly, following the steady steps of the Guild Master out of the still noisy main hall.
Setting aside the heated discussions and speculative whispers among the adventurers remaining in the hall, one figure standing slightly in the corner stared at the corridor where Ainzach and Enri had disappeared with an unreadable gaze. His mind was churning with all sorts of questions and speculations. That figure was none other than Momonga.
"She seems to be the same girl, doesn't she? How could she become a sixth-tier magic caster in such a short time?" Momonga thought to himself with increasing confusion. When Enri spoke with Ainzach, Momonga had caught a glimpse of the girl's profile and immediately recognized her. Enri was the girl who had followed Kael when he observed Carne Village from a distance some time ago.
When Carne Village was attacked by the disguised Sunlight Scripture soldiers, Momonga had clearly seen that Enri was not even able to defeat an ordinary soldier and that both of her parents were tragically killed as a result. He knew very well that ordinary people in this new world were generally very weak. If Enri had the ability to use sixth-tier magic at that time, such a terrible event should never have happened.
The only possibility that came to Momonga's mind was that after the incident in the village, Enri's strength had increased drastically and she had suddenly become a 'high-level' magic caster as she claimed now. And all of this happened in just a few days... how could an ordinary person reach such an extraordinary level of power in such a short time?
Thinking of this, the image of Kael suddenly flashed in Momonga's mind, and an unpleasant feeling of unease began to arise in his heart. "We must investigate this matter further. If we can find a way to increase our strength so quickly, we might be able to make Nazarick even stronger and invincible," Momonga thought with a newfound determination.
…
Several hours later, after Enri's magical abilities were personally verified by the President of the E-Rantel Magic Guild, Rakshiel, the shocking news that a great mage capable of casting sixth-tier magic had appeared in the city spread rapidly through all the streets and alleys, becoming a hot topic of conversation everywhere.
When Kael heard the sensational news through one of the villagers who had just returned from the Guild, a cold smile of satisfaction appeared on his face. He felt that his plan was proceeding as he had hoped.
Today, he had accomplished many significant things. First, he successfully charmed Lizzie and Nfirea with a low-tier healing potion from the world of Yggdrasil. Then, through the old woman's connections, he managed to purchase several strategic properties within the city to serve as the base of operations for the 'Church of Destiny' and placed all the Carne Village residents he had saved there safely and comfortably. After that, Enri boldly led all the villagers who had the talent and desire to become adventurers to the Adventurers' Guild to register. At the same time, he also asked some villagers with skills in magic scroll production to bring the high-quality scrolls made by the entire production-oriented villagers to the Magic Guild for sale, which successfully caused a sensation and attracted the attention of the city's mages.
As for the last thing on his agenda today... Kael looked at the sun beginning to slant westward in the sky. It was about four in the afternoon, and there were still about two or three hours before nightfall. "I forgot to check over there yesterday. I don't know if that woman has arrived in E-Rantel yet. We should go to the city cemetery after dinner," Kael thought, planning his next move.
According to the information he remembered from the storyline, an evil necromancer was hiding within the vast cemetery of E-Rantel. She had been planning for many years to use a terrifying large-scale magic ritual to bring about an undead disaster and turn this entire bustling city into a terrifying city of the dead. It should be around this time that one of the necromancer woman's important subordinates would arrive in the city and bring her a very powerful magic item that would assist her in her evil ritual. In other words, if no one stopped her, that terrible disaster would soon occur.
Of course, Kael, as a level 100 player with all sorts of extraordinary magic and abilities, considered any disaster caused by the native humans of this new world to be nothing more than a joke. He could easily quell it at any time he wanted with a little effort. However, Kael didn't intend to directly interfere with the two necromancers' plans for the time being. Because if the evil duo's plans could proceed smoothly according to the storyline, it would actually be beneficial for him in the long run, and he planned to use this opportunity to do something else more important for his goals.
"But before that, let's first deal with those two tails that have been following behind," Kael murmured softly, glancing back slightly with a faint smile. Although ordinary eyes might not be able to see any human figures there, with his perceptual abilities far surpassing ordinary humans, he could still clearly sense the presence of two people who had been secretly following him since he left the Adventurers' Guild. "Are they just greedy thieves attracted to the money I might have, or spies sent by other forces to monitor me? I'll find out the answer soon," Kael thought coldly.
Without changing his expression, Kael suddenly quickened his pace and sharply turned into a secluded alley that looked dark and deserted. Not long after, two young men dressed like ordinary people hurriedly followed Kael to the entrance of the alley. They first peered into the dimly lit alley, and when they found that Kael had disappeared from view, they hurriedly ran after him into the quiet alley.
"What's going on?" one of the young men whispered in a confused tone.
"Where did that guy go so fast?" the other replied with a worried expression on his face, his eyes darting around searching for Kael's figure in the dark alley.
At almost the same moment, both of them felt a light tap on their shoulders from behind, and a familiar teasing voice sounded right in their ears. "Are you looking for me?"
Huh! The two hurriedly turned around in shock and surprise to see Kael suddenly appearing right behind them, a cold smile adorning his face. They struggled to break free from the grip of Kael's hands that suddenly clamped down firmly on their shoulders. But their efforts were destined to be futile.
"I don't have much patience to play cat and mouse with you," Kael said in a cold yet threatening tone.
"[Charm Person]!" Kael released a low-level mind-control spell on the two young men with a sly smile. As their gazes gradually became vacant and dull, the spell worked as he had expected.
"Tell me," Kael asked in a soft yet forceful tone, "who sent the two of you? And what exactly do you want by following me all this time?"
"I... We... were assigned... tasked... by the mayor... Lord Panasole," one of the young men replied in a flat, emotionless voice, his eyes staring blankly ahead. "The mayor... asked us... to monitor... your actions... and there is no... other purpose."
Hmm~ It seems he's just being cautious, so there's no need to worry too much, Kael thought to himself, nodding slightly without expression. Mayor Panasole was a subordinate highly valued by King Ramposa III and was one of the more influential royalist nobles. He was responsible for managing all affairs of the city of E-Rantel on behalf of the king. Although his appearance wasn't particularly striking – a bald old man with a bulging belly – his personal abilities were quite prominent among the kingdom's nobles. The sudden appearance of a large group of Carne Village residents in this city must have caught his attention as the city's ruler. It was natural for him to feel the need to send someone to monitor these mysterious newcomers.
Kael then released his mind-control spell. The two young men seemed to jolt awake from a nightmare. After realizing what had just happened, they immediately broke free from Kael's touch and looked at him with fear and clear wariness in their eyes.
"Go back and tell Mayor Panasole to come and see me directly if he has any problems or questions. If he sends someone to follow me again next time without a clear reason, don't blame me if I end up killing someone," Kael said in a cold and threatening tone, his gaze piercing the two frightened young men. After saying this, Kael put his hands in his robe pockets and walked away, leaving the dark alley, leaving the two unfortunate spies exchanging glances with deep confusion and fear.
