Chapter 15 - Chapter 15: [Divinity of the God of Destiny] The effect has changed

"Enri, your main task today is to familiarize yourself with the power you have just acquired," Kael said in a calm yet guiding tone. He had brought Enri and the Sunlight Scripture members to the outskirts of Carne Village and was now giving Enri clear instructions for the day's training.

After a moment's thought, Kael retrieved a simple magic wand from his player inventory. The short wand stored third-tier undead summoning magic. As a magic caster specializing in the holy attribute of the faith system, Kael himself had never learned this undead summoning magic. Using a magic scroll for this purpose felt wasteful, so the short wand was a more economical choice as it could be used multiple times.

The short wand's effect was activated, and a skeletal warrior around level 20 appeared in front of everyone. The appearance of the withered and terrifying monster made Enri, who was wearing the [Experience Hood], a little nervous, though she tried to hide it.

"A magic caster is usually not very skilled in close combat, so you need to learn how to summon monsters to act as your own shield," Kael explained, taking out a worn book from his inventory and opening it to the first page. "You just need to use magic to attack enemies from a distance, while your summoned creatures protect and attack up close..." He explained the basics of magic caster tactics to Enri word by word.

In fact, Kael himself didn't have much practical experience in this regard. His experience playing the game Yggdrasil was only about a year, and he had inherited a max-level character from the start. He had never experienced the process of slowly raising his career level from level 1. He had always relied on the numerical superiority of his summons to overwhelm his opponents. His PK experience could only be described as average, and he was no match for hardcore players like Touch Me who had played for more than ten years.

However, he had prepared for this situation. Before crossing over to the new world, he had specifically sought out some experienced tactical players and bought their battle strategy notes. The combat skills he was about to teach Enri were what he had learned from a professional player named "Saint of Light" who was famous for being skilled in PK and proficient in using summons.

Enri, who didn't know that her Lord God was actually a novice when it came to close-range combat tactics, listened to Kael's explanation very carefully, absorbing every word he said. Afterward, with a bit of hesitation but full of determination, she began to practice fighting.

"Third-Tier: Angel Summoning!"

The little village girl raised her magic staff with both hands, and as her magic power began to drain, a golden summoning magic circle appeared in front of her, rotating slowly in the air. Then, a warrior in dimly glowing armor, waving wings that seemed to burn with light, and holding a sword that radiated faint heat slowly emerged from the center of the magic circle. It was the standard summoning creature of the Sunlight Scripture - a Flame Angel.

Oh! When they saw a Flame Angel appear from the magic circle summoned by an ordinary village girl, several faint cries of surprise could be heard from the ranks of the Sunlight Scripture Team standing not far away, although no one knew for sure who had let out those surprised exclamations.

Although they had been captured and confined in the wooden house warehouse yesterday, the wooden house was not too far from the open space in the village. The residents of Carne Village had made so much noise and celebration last night that they had also heard those boisterous sounds. However, seeing an ordinary village girl summon a high-level angel before their eyes was a truly unbelievable sight.

Third-tier magic was a realm they could only reach after years of studying complex magical knowledge and practicing tirelessly! Thinking of this, everyone in the Sunlight Canon couldn't help but turn their gazes towards Kael, with a hint of awe and hidden desire in their eyes. What kind of power did this mysterious being possess to be able to bestow such extraordinary abilities upon an ordinary village girl?

"It's coming, Enri," Kael said in a calm tone, signaling the start of the training.

"Yes!" Enri replied with a firm nod, although her heart was beating a little faster.

Under Kael's control, the skeletal warrior moved forward and attacked Enri with slow and stiff movements. Enri immediately commanded her Flame Angel to step forward and engage it. Although both were third-tier magic summons, Skeleton Warriors were not high-level undead and were naturally disadvantaged against Flame Angels in terms of attributes and power. Moreover, this kind of Pokémon-style fighting, which only focused on simple physical attacks, posed no real threat to the summoner herself, making it difficult to evaluate Enri's performance in this situation.

The battle lasted for about five minutes. With verbal guidance from Kael, Enri and her Flame Angel cooperated to easily defeat the slow Skeleton Warrior.

"Well done, Enri," Kael praised symbolically, giving the girl a little encouragement. Then, he prepared to let the Sunlight Scripture members take turns to help Enri gain more combat experience.

Eh? Just as he was choosing which Sunlight Scripture member would go next, he suddenly remembered something important. In yesterday's fierce battle, Enri had been leveling up continuously at an alarming rate, so he had to keep a close eye on her to prevent her from choosing the wrong profession in the future.

Now that I think about it again, there should be a way for Enri to choose and distribute her own career level points, just like players in the game Yggdrasil, right? Kael thought with a frown. No, I must figure out how it works. Otherwise, with so many followers in the future, if they suddenly rank up one after another like Enri did yesterday, how can I add new professions for all of them in time? That would be too troublesome.

The more Kael thought about it, the more it made sense to him that a system for distributing level points should exist for his followers. Constantly updating and managing the development of each follower manually would be an extremely time-consuming and laborious task.

Eh? Continuous upgrades? Thinking of Enri's rapid leveling situation, Kael's thoughts suddenly shifted again. The reason why Enri was able to level up continuously yesterday was because her initial level was very low, and the enemies she killed with her summons - the Flame Angels - were all around level 18 or 19, far above her initial level. It was normal to gain a large amount of experience by killing monsters that were much higher level.

However, as Enri raised her level to around level 15, the level difference between her and the Flame Angels was no longer so significant. Logically, there shouldn't have been such drastic level jumps anymore. But afterward, Enri seemed to have skipped levels multiple times when she successfully killed the Archangel of Majesty, whose level was estimated to be between 43 and 49.

Isn't this a case of killing monsters that are far above their level? Is that really how the system works?

There's a problem here, a big problem! Kael thought anxiously.

The Archangel of Majesty was summoned by Nigun using a Demon Sealing Crystal. Nigun's Demon Sealing Crystal was given to him by the top leaders of the Slane Theocracy, and the Theocracy itself was known to have access to item packages left behind by the six great gods - who were none other than the players of Yggdrasil who arrived in the new world earlier.

That magic sealing crystal is most likely one of the legacy items of the six gods, the players, Kael realized. Since Nigun could use player properties to summon wild monsters that were then killed by Enri, if I give similar properties to Nigun and the others, could it also help Enri level up faster?

As Kael thought about this exciting possibility, his heart was slightly moved by the potential benefits. If I want to confirm whether this method works, I just need to give a magic sealing crystal to Nigun and try it out.

However, before doing that, Kael felt the need to first figure out how a follower should control the distribution of their experience points and whether they could gain experience through such unconventional means.

"You," Kael said, randomly pointing to a Sunlight Canon member who looked the least injured, "come over here and teach Enri how to fight as a faith-based magic caster."

"Ah? Yes! Of course, Lord!" the Sunlight Canon member replied with a bit of surprise but immediately obeyed.

Kael then took over the instructor's position temporarily, using tenth-tier magic to summon several powerful guardian angels to ensure Enri's safety from a distance. After confirming Enri was safe, he quickly used teleportation to leave the training ground.

In the blink of an eye, Kael suddenly appeared in the middle of a dense forest outside Carne Village. He looked around vigilantly, making sure there were no spies lurking nearby, and then released several high-level anti-surveillance magic spells in succession to protect his privacy.

After feeling certain that no one was eavesdropping or watching, he placed his palm on his chest and closed his eyes. As soft colorful lights flickered between his fingers, a diamond-shaped crystal emitting a mysterious aura was extracted from within his body. It was his most precious item, the [Divinity of the God of Destiny].

Superior Item Identification!

Kael immediately cast a high-level identification spell on the [Divinity of the God of Destiny], hoping to uncover the secrets behind it. Since his followers originated from transformations influenced by this item, examining the item's description was the best way to solve all the problems related to their development and abilities.

"What in the world!? The item's effects have changed?" Kael exclaimed with a strange expression after reading the detailed information provided by the identification spell.

The original effect of the [Divinity of the God of Destiny] was to grant the target player characteristics, game professions, and change their race to match the chosen profession. However, perhaps due to the influence of the new world's unique laws, some aspects and functions of the item had undergone significant changes.

First, regarding the characteristics of the dependent player (follower). Of the original three elements—gaining experience points for level upgrades, a level cap of 100, and unlimited resurrection after level reduction—the latter two elements seemed unchanged. However, the effect of gaining experience points for level upgrades had undergone modifications.

Now, there were three ways for dependent players to gain experience: killing wild monsters, independent training (meditation or physical training), and obtaining special legendary achievements (completing important quests or performing heroic deeds).

The definition of "wild monsters" had also undergone an interesting change. According to the new description, except for the contractor (Kael) and dependent players, as well as all summoned creatures and contract-bound life forms, all other intelligent life forms in this world (including other World Tree players if any, high-intelligence NPCs, and natives) were all considered "wild monsters"!

Then, there was the function of helping dependent players acquire professions. The item description now stated that dependent players only needed to acquire a basic profession from the system corresponding to this world and raise that basic profession to level 10. After reaching level 10 in the basic profession, they could ignore all the complex career prerequisites and acquire the right to transfer to all high-level professions available within that system. That was what explained the abnormal situation that had occurred with Enri earlier, where she directly qualified for a high-level profession without going through the intermediate profession path.

"Well... this doesn't seem like a bad thing for me," Kael muttered, scratching his head, trying to digest this new information. "At least I don't have to worry too much about the lack of high-level monsters in this new world and the inability to quickly develop my forces."

After understanding how the follower development system worked and how he could help them control the use of their experience points, Kael put the [Divinity of the God of Destiny] back into his body with a slightly calmer heart. He had more information to plan the future of his followers.
