Chapter 20 - Chapter 20: Gazef vs Enri

"The battle begins!" Kael announced in a loud voice, signaling the start of the fight.

On one side stood the trained royal knight corps and the strongest warriors of the Re-Estize Kingdom, complete with their weapons and armor. On the other side stood a girl of about 16 years old from a remote village on the kingdom's border, who, despite holding a priest's staff, looked a little weak and nervous. As Kael shouted the start of the war, a strange and awkward atmosphere suddenly spread among the onlookers.

Although Gazef and the Royal Knights immediately formed a coordinated attack formation as in their daily training, they were facing a girl who looked so young and fragile. They felt too ashamed to attack seriously, so they just waited warily, anticipating Enri's first move.

The Lord is watching me! I must not disappoint Him! Enri encouraged herself silently, taking a deep breath to calm her nervousness, and then took the lead by chanting, "Sixth-Tier: Angel Summoning!"

What! .... Gazef and the soldiers were all shocked and wide-eyed at the girl's shout. Unlike the foolish nobles in the kingdom who had no understanding of the magic caster profession and magical power, Gazef, due to his experience as a mercenary in his youth, had never dared to underestimate monsters capable of controlling terrifying magical power.

All the members of the Kingdom Warriors were elite soldiers personally selected and trained by Gazef. They had basic knowledge of magic and naturally knew how dangerous sixth-tier magic was. The highest achievement a great magic caster in their kingdom could usually reach was only third-tier magic. If someone could use fourth-tier magic, they would be considered an elite among the elites. Fifth-tier was an extremely rare realm, only achievable by genius humans after years of tireless practice – the realm of heroes. Once Gazef stepped halfway into the realm of heroes, he became famous among all the surrounding human countries and was recognized as the strongest warrior in the Re-Estize Kingdom. If this girl could use sixth-tier magic... wouldn't that be equivalent to the level of the strongest magic caster in the entire human race, the court mage of the Baharuth Empire, Fluder Paradyne, who had lived for more than two hundred years! ....

This is impossible! All the soldiers loudly denied this terrifying possibility in their hearts. Even Gazef himself was extremely skeptical of that possibility, but due to the vigilance of an experienced warrior, he still heightened his alertness and prepared for any eventuality.

A radiant magic circle appeared in front of Enri, emitting a dazzling golden light. The next second, from within the magic circle emerged a humanoid angel shrouded in shimmering starlight. The creature was extremely tall, estimated to be around two meters seventy to eighty centimeters in height, with arms covered in thick armor that were the size of an adult man's thigh, and in its hand, it held an enormous energy sword, radiating an intense white light.

The Angel of Light and Strength, whose level was detected to be around LV38, possessed a special skill that added extra divine attribute damage when attacking, making it particularly effective against creatures of darkness such as demons and undead.

"Angel, attack them!" Enri commanded in a slightly trembling yet determined tone. Because she was completely relying on the power bestowed by Kael, Enri didn't feel that she was anything special at the moment. Even when she controlled her summon, she did so with a deep sense of humility and respect for her Lord.

However, Enri's humility did not affect the fighting effectiveness of the Angel of Light. The creature flapped its luminous wings gently behind its back and immediately displayed agility completely disproportionate to its large size, charging towards Gazef and the Royal Knights with astonishing speed!

"They're coming! Be careful!" Gazef shouted, warning his subordinates. After giving the command, he took the lead to meet the rapidly approaching Angel of Light.

The angel swung its massive lightsaber, aiming it at Gazef's head with a powerful slash. Gazef showed no weakness and raised his sword to parry the attack.

Clang! Although it was clear that one of the swords was a pure energy blade, when the two swords collided, there was still a surprising dull metallic clanging sound, and sparks flew from the friction between the clashing blades.

The stalemate of power lasted for less than a second that felt like an eternity. The muscles in Gazef's sword-wielding arm tensed to their maximum, his face slightly contorted by the excessive force of his gritted teeth, and his supporting feet slid about two centimeters on the ground due to the tremendous impact. It was clear that he did not have the advantage in this power struggle.

The heavy weight on his sword suddenly lessened, and his numb arm had a chance to breathe for a moment. However, Gazef didn't feel lucky about this brief respite, because the next wave of the enemy's attack was already very close!

The Angel of Light and Strength's lightsaber slashed again with a faster and more deadly movement. Gazef's eyes shone with a mysterious red light, and his whole body seemed to be enveloped by an unknown red energy. He saw the energy sword heading for his head and quickly raised his sword in a blocking position.

The moment the two swords collided for the second time, the Angel of Light and Strength was like using an ordinary iron sword to chop a hard iron block. Gazef's weapon was repelled with tremendous force, almost causing him to lose his balance.

"Is that... martial arts?" Kael, who was watching the progress of the match from the side with a relaxed expression, saw this interesting scene and a hint of interest appeared in his eyes.

Martial arts were unique combat skills possessed by warriors from other worlds. By consuming concentration or mental focus, one could significantly enhance their combat abilities in a short period. These skills were often referred to as "warrior magic" by the natives of this world. Although the power of these martial arts was average and couldn't compare to the skills of Yggdrasil players, which often had powerful magical effects, martial arts were still a unique and valuable ability in close combat.

However, these abilities seemed to be labeled as exclusive abilities possessed only by the natives of this world, and Yggdrasil players like Kael and NPCs like the guardians of the Great Tomb of Nazarick could not master them.

I don't know if my followers can learn it. I should try it later, Kael thought with a faint smile, secretly observing this interesting phenomenon.

On the increasingly intense battlefield, Gazef barely managed to parry the second attack of the Angel of Light. He immediately seized the opportunity to launch a swift and targeted counterattack.

Enhance skill and martial art ability! The martial art that enhanced Gazef's overall physical abilities activated. With swift and measured footwork, Gazef took a small step forward, then unleashed his signature martial art - the lightning slash!

This slashing technique not only increased the speed of the swordsman's slash but also dealt greater slashing damage to the enemy. However, activating it required a specific condition: the user's attack must come from top to bottom with the right momentum. Gazef's mastery of martial arts had reached perfection. His greatsword had just reached the required height to deliver that deadly slash, but his movements were so efficient that they didn't cause his posture to change too much, significantly saving the time needed to unleash the lethal attack.

A red arc of light flashed along with the swing of Gazef's greatsword. With astonishing speed, the sword slashed across the Angel of Light's chest, the blade embedding itself deep into the angel's metal armor with a loud impact.

However, in the next instant, the sword blade was gradually pushed out by an unknown force, and the angel's armor showed absolutely no signs of damage.

This was because unlike other summoned monsters, angels, as summoned monsters of the highest quality, possessed more racial abilities, including strong resistance to physical attacks that did not contain magical elements.

Annoying! Gazef growled inwardly, feeling deep frustration that his powerful attack had no effect whatsoever. Quickly, he activated the martial art "Instant Reflection" to evade the counterattack from the Angel of Light that came at high speed, and managed to retreat back to his original position before the slash.

Just as Gazef was preparing to continue his second attack, suddenly an energy spear shining with holy light flew towards him with incredible speed. Before Gazef could react or even notice its arrival, the spear slammed into his chest!

Puff! A terrifying impact sound was heard as the energy spear pierced viciously. The armor Gazef wore, in whose strength he had always taken pride, felt like thin paper in the face of this attack and offered no defense whatsoever. His chest was pierced straight through, and a large amount of blood spurted out from his gaping wound, staining the ground beneath him a deep crimson. Gazef planted the sword in his hand into the ground with a tremor, and only then was he barely able to support his swaying body. A burning pain coursed through his entire being.

"Captain of the Knights!" exclaimed the members of the warrior group with cries of shock and horror as they saw their leader severely injured in the blink of an eye.

Although the fight between Gazef and the Angel of Light had many small details in movements and tactics, from the initial confrontation to Gazef's terrifying fall, it only took a total time of about five seconds that felt like an eternity to the eyewitnesses. Initially, they had been quite confident in Gazef's strength, and since his opponent was just a young girl summoning a creature, they hadn't immediately stepped forward to help. They had never expected the outcome to be like this, with their leader lying helpless in such a short amount of time.

"Protect the Captain of the Knights!" shouted several warriors who finally snapped out of their shock. In a panic, they rushed forward to surround the severely injured Gazef and tried to restrain the still-standing Angel of Light, while others desperately ran towards its summoner, Enri, who was standing not far from the battlefield.

On the other hand, Enri, who had just launched her first attack through her summon, was clearly stunned and a little frightened after seeing the result of her battle being so swift and devastating. Wasn't he... the strongest warrior in the Re-Estize Kingdom? How could he not even withstand a single one of my attacks? Enri thought with wide eyes, feeling the immense power that was now under her control.
