Chapter 8 - New Life

Amelia woke up, and for the first time in a long time, she felt as though nothing could stop her. She did not know where she was, but she did not seem to care. She simply gazed at the high ceiling with no intention of getting up. She remained like this for a few minutes until someone opened the door to the room.

This room was something she could have never imagined entering. The room was very large—it was designed to make someone feel relaxed and at home.

The room had two large beds, and everything was the best money could buy.

Amelia turned her head and looked at the person that had just interrupted her thoughts.

It was an old man with long red hair and a beard. What showed his age were the wrinkles on his face.

She took one glance at him before losing interest.

"I am the principal of this place," said the man. His voice was warm and inviting, making one think of a loving grandpa.

This finally caught Amelia's attention.

She looked at the man with confusion in her red eyes.

The man brought a chair closer to the bed and sat down. He wore weird-looking robes that made him look like a member of some cult, but otherwise, there was nothing abnormal about this man.

"The world has eight continents. The eighth continent is hidden from the human world. We found you after your awakening in the Human World and brought you here. You are currently on the eighth continent, Lemuria."

These words were enough to drag Amelia out of her daze. From what the old man was saying, she had been kidnapped and forced to abandon her sister, who was only six years old.

A red glint passed through her eyes. This did not escape the principal's notice.

He gently smiled at her.

"You are currently in Lemuria Academy. I can assure you that in this place, no harm will come to you," the old man continued.

Amelia was about to attack. She sat up on the bed, and just when she was about to strike, she felt the room grow hotter.

"As for your sister, we brought her along."

These words made Amelia calm down. As long as she was with her sister, she believed that everything would be okay...

The principal explained everything to Amelia, and when he was done, the old man called over a young man to give Amelia a tour of the place.

"I am Adrian," said the young man. He was a handsome man with piercing blue eyes and golden hair. He was six feet tall and looked to be in perfect shape. He wore simple jeans and a black shirt that showed off his muscles. This young man looked like the perfect Greek statue.

After the principal explained everything, Amelia had regained a bit of life within her. Even though her eyes still held great pain, there was now some joy and light. This was because the principal had shown her her sister, who had already assimilated into this place. When Amelia saw her sister, the young girl was playing with her new friends. They were playing in a beautiful garden, and they all looked extremely happy. This was the happiest Amelia had ever seen her sister. The principal had offered Amelia a position at the academy. This position came with a full scholarship and living expenses.

The principal had also offered the same to Charlotte.

Amelia could not believe that just a few days ago, she was thinking about what to do for food.

It was as though she had left hell and ascended to heaven overnight.

When Adrian introduced himself, Amelia could not stop herself from taking a second look at this young man.

As Adrian showed her around the place, Amelia was shaken by how large this place was. Adrian only introduced the most important places since it would take months for one to receive a full tour of this place. During the tour, Amelia and Adrian realized that they could be friends, and so they became friends.

Amelia still had a lot of questions, but she held them in. She had already learned that she was some kind of vampire, and this was enough information for her. A few days later, she learned more about what she was. It turned out that she was a Strigoi, one of the Children of the Night. The principal was the one to explain all this to her—this was after she refused to drink blood for lunch.

She learned about the Strigoi, and the more she learned, the more she felt as though this was not heaven but hell on earth. The Strigoi were terrible creatures that treated humans as nothing more than flesh sacks that kept blood warm for the Strigoi to enjoy.

To make matters worse, she learned that for her to be a Child of the Night—a Strigoi—she had to have been born that way.

This meant that the parents she had known all her life were not her real parents. This did not shock her too much since she had always wondered about this, but what shook her was the fact that this meant she did not share any blood with her sister, who was one hundred percent human.

"Your parents must have sealed your true self and placed you in the human world," said Adrian. The two were in the magnificent dining hall, having dinner.

Amelia asked Adrian to explain to her a few things, and the truths she learned were truly shocking.

Even though Amelia learned that she was not related to her sister by blood, this did not change the love she had for the girl.

Amelia faced a lot of problems, but nothing she could not handle. As time moved on, she grew more used to this new and strange world.

It had only been a week, but she felt as though she had been in Lemuria Academy for years.

Suddenly, the atmosphere at the academy changed.

There was a tension in the air, and when she asked Adrian about it, she learned that the academy was getting ready to fend off an attack from the Draugr. Amelia had learned about these creatures—their king was currently the Night King, and he had great power.

Amelia did not know why the Draugr were attacking the academy, and no one would tell her.

The only thing she was told was not to worry.

"This place is not just an academy. It is one of the most powerful organizations on Lemuria. Even though the Draugr Domain is stronger, even they do not have the power to destroy the academy," said Corina. She was the other friend that Amelia had made in her short time here.

Corina, Amelia, and Adrian were the closest of friends, and when her friends told her not to worry, she chose to believe them.
