8:00AM
You and the rats arrived at the secluded training ground in staggered groups, only to find that just five of them had made it. One appeared to have been caught by a wandering ninja cat from the clan grounds.
With no other choice, you caught another one to make up the numbers for your modification.
9:00AM
You transformed the six rats into suicide devices—each modified to ignite an explosive tag using a lighter's sparking mechanism, triggered by the opening of their mouths.
10:00AM
After putting the rats under hypnosis with your Sharingan and hiding them in place, you filled a basket with stones, strapped it to your back, and began weighted training.
11:00AM
Even though the rocks posed no real burden thanks to your enhanced Strength, your goal wasn't just resistance—it was control. You used the weight to refine your ability to regulate your Strength and build up your Endurance.
All the while, your Sharingan remained active. Splitting your focus this way served as training too—both for your chakra control and to sharpen your ocular power.
12:00PM
The strain of controlling your Strength had left you tired.
Right on time for lunch, you decided to head to the clan's food street for a bite.
...
1:00PM
After lunch, you placed the modified rats into the basket and covered them with a cloth. Then you made your way toward your usual fishing spot by the river—it was time to fish.
Partway there, you sensed something trailing you. While the Sharingan primarily boosted your visual perception, it also elevated your Spirit, making your senses for smell and sound much sharper.
You suspected it was a cat, but paid it no mind and acted unaware as you continued toward the riverbank.
2:00PM
Just as you threw all six fat rats to the far bank of the river, the black cat that had been tailing you finally sprang out and blocked your path.
Despite its cute, petite form, it spoke in a gruff, gravelly voice, completely at odds with its appearance. It demanded to know why you'd thrown its food across the river—and whether you were the one raising that bunch of rats it saw earlier.
You answered truthfully, explaining that the Uchiha were facing extermination, and you were doing all this to save your clan.
The black cat burst into laughter, rolling on the ground clutching its belly. It mocked you, saying a brat who hadn't even refined chakra was playing at being a ninja.
But when you dispelled the Transformation Jutsu hiding your eyes and revealed your double-tomoe Sharingan, the cat stopped laughing.
It stared at your eyes in shock and asked if it was real—how a little kid like you even knew about Root's existence.
When you confirmed it, the cat grew serious, saying that couldn't be possible. If Root was planning an extermination, there was no way the ninja cats' information network throughout the village wouldn't have caught wind of it.
You knew words wouldn't convince it. Even bringing up the ridiculous idea of Uchiha Itachi betraying the clan wouldn't help your case here.
So you hooked a fish and tossed it to the cat, telling it to wait here an hour and stay hidden—if Root's chakra sensors caught its presence, things could get messy.
But the cat instantly suppressed its chakra. No matter how wide you opened your Sharingan, you couldn't see how it had done it. One moment it was a ninja cat, the next it was just a regular cat.
It explained this was an innate ability of the ninja cats, just like the Sharingan was to the Uchiha.
Instead, it was curious how you were able to hide your chakra and ocular fluctuations even after activating the Sharingan.
You just chuckled and brushed the question aside.
...
3:00PM
Three Root shinobi arrived right on schedule.
You re-applied your Transformation Jutsu to conceal your Sharingan.
They spotted a kid fishing on the opposite bank with a black cat beside him. The three exchanged glances, then activated sensory techniques. But the chakra pulses swept over the two of you and found nothing unusual.
They then began digging into the soil.
You reeled in another fish and subtly controlled it with your Sharingan, placing it before the black cat.
Just as it was about to eat, it noticed the fish's eye had turned into a Sharingan—and within that eye, a word began to form.
The cat stared at you, puzzled.
You reached out to stroke its back, using your Sharingan to continue spelling out letters in silence—a basic Sharingan technique to share information.
The cat scoffed at how cumbersome it was and said things would be much simpler if you signed a contract with the ninja cat clan—then you could just communicate telepathically.
Despite being skeptical about your story of Uchiha Itachi working with Root to massacre his own clan, the black cat couldn't deny the reality before its eyes. Those three across the river were Root barrier team members—no faking that.
It agreed to help for now, offering to identify the codenames of the three, but warned it wouldn't interfere. You'd have to deal with them yourself.
That was fine by you. You'd already fought these guys before—and left one of them seriously injured.
...
4:00 PM
Time to strike.
You directed two rats to burrow out from underground, their movements synchronized and bodies pressed close together as they crept toward the Root operative with the codename "Yama." If they made a noise, it'd sound like just one rat.
As expected, the shinobi reacted instantly—without even turning, he flicked a shuriken backward.
But under your precise control, the rats split just in time, circling around his legs and triggering their explosive tags.
At the same moment, you launched a Fireball Jutsu from across the river, dispelling both your Transformation Jutsu and chakra suppression technique in the process.
Before they could recover, you sent out two more explosive rats targeting Yama, while flinging a handful of shuriken to lock him down within the smoke cloud.
Then you threw a kunai wrapped with an explosive tag, focusing all your firepower on him.
But Root shinobi aren't easy targets.
Aside from the one under fire, the other two activated Body Flicker. One retreated into the distance while the other burst through the smoke and fired a Lightning Release jutsu straight at you.
You tried to dodge with a Substitution Jutsu, but the jutsu still connected. Your body convulsed from the shock—you were already on the brink of death.
And yet, you smiled.
Another explosion rang out.
The Root operative who'd tried to flee had stepped on one of your explosive rats. While he narrowly avoided death, the blast still took off one of his legs.
Just then, Uchiha Tekka arrived with the police force.
He quickly took down the Lightning Release user and finished off the injured one with the severed leg.
You insisted on personally finishing off the one codenamed Yama, even if you had to die without treatment.
You stabbed your kunai straight into his throat. This time, you made sure—he was dead.
But your wounds were too severe. The Lightning Release had seared your internal organs.
As you lay dying, the black cat whispered the codenames of the other two:
The one who lost his leg—"Kawa."
The one who hit you with Lightning Release—"Take."
