Chapter 13 - Chapter 13: The Not So Humble Abode

But yeah… this is the same paper.

Or I'm I just imagining things.

Jorel glanced through the paper.

"Heh…What do you mean that you don't understand it" Jorel pointed at the paper in Dorl's hands.

Its still about father's plans with this land.

Not that there's much to do here…

Apart from its mines…

"Please let's go somewhere…One that's more private…" Dorl muttered as he dropped his hand downwards.

"Follow me…" He turned around as if age had caught up with him, his mouth gaped open.

"Sir let me----" Isan spoke as he tried to accompany him, but Dorl just raised a hand at Isan's face without looking back.

"No… Just…No" Dorl mouthed as the air sounded as if it came from somewhere hollow.

"Haha." Jorel followed him while he looked at Isan's distorted face----That distortion slowly turned into a frown at the moment.

"Jorel…" Dorl muttered under his breath, his leg moved against the mud.

They're moved past the crowd with their eyes locked on them.

All those eyes, its becoming rather too much.

Jorel's mouth subtly quivered with his left elbow being rubbed by his right hand.

*Thump-THUMP* *THUMP-thump*

Jorel's chest beated louder whike Dorl seemed to be move slowed, being slightly washed out to the sides.

Jorel's lungs felt squeezed.

T-They… should stop…

Those eyes…

No…!

I can't allow something like that to deter me…!

But his hands vibrated with sweat as it dripped from Jorel's forehead whike he walked past them.

It'll soon be over…It'll soon be over…

It'll soon be over…It'll soon be over…

Jorel chanted in his head while his nose took a constructed breathe.

He walked past the crowd as he swiped the sweat on his face. The Kumigara still not looking back, as the walk past some buildings with roofs littered with holes like paper that has been punctered by a child.

...

The windows don't even have glass at all, some bricks even stuck out as the walls were dam and seemed that they want to burst.

The stalls, half broken and empty, the ones that have any vegetables were just covered in mold.

Vegetables without being cooked are one thing----But moldy?

Jorel stuck his tongue as his throat gurged, his head shook slowly from left to right.

They both still walked with Dorl still being quiet while a woman holding a basket passed by.

"Good day Kumi Dorl"

"Good day…" Dorl half heartedly smiled back.

"uhhh…" She shuddered back from Dorl as gaze shifted onto Jorel, but he just stared back right at her with his hands on his waist.

"I–I'll j-just go…" She quickly bolted off with the clothes in her basket almost having spilled over.

Are people in this town just short…Or I'm I just too tall?

Jorel wondered.

...

They kept on walking and walking, through the mud and almost run down buildings till they reached Dorl's house.

Finally!

Jorel sighed out of relief.

"H-Here…" Dorl pointed to his house's door.

Dorl's house, slightly less damp than the rest, taller and the windows actually had glass, the ground there was more firm. He then reached in for his doorknob and turned it as the door opened.

"Daddy!" A little girl's high pitched voice rushed right at Jorel's ears as she hugged Dorl tightly.

"How was your stroll?" She opened her mouth at him as mucus came out from her nose, Jorel saw this and then moved back for safety from the mucus.

But asking just a moving corpse how was their day?

I think you have better chances with explaining puberty to a rock---

Jorel lightly chuckled.

"How are you my little Tina?" Dorl patted her head, his voice sounded more cheerful than the mundane tone of before.

Did the kumikage switch at that point…

Or did his sha---

Jorel's eyes tightened.

"Let's go inside" Dorl carried the girl and turned back to look at Jorel.

He has a child----A daughter?!

For her age…Dorl looks too old to be her father!

Or did he…with someone young…

A disturbing image flashed into Jorel's head, his stomach churned and his body shuddered at the thought.

Ugh…Commoners…

Jorel took off his boots at the front door and arranged them towards the side.

Even in a dump like this…

My manners and simple courtesy are all I need to distinguish between me and them.

They stepped into the house as the messy sight hurled right into Jorel's sockets. Clothes—Bright and small sized dresses were everywhere, even with a mix of big sized clothes. The peach coloured walls stained with lines that were graphite black.
