Chapter 18 - Chapter 18: The Lilied Guards

Isan still shouted and rolled from side to side like he's a baby in a cradle. Metal clanked and a squeaking sound became more louder----More closer.

I can't let something as little as cutting someone's hand deter me, I'm the heir to the Ujochi clan for crying out loud!

So I have to calm down, Calm down!

Jorel thought as he steadied his hand and slowly breathed out.

"Hey you stop!" Someone shouted at Jorel.

Who's that?

He raised his head up and looked at the person.

They don't learn…Do they?

What happened here?" The man's face looked at the surroundings as the sun tried to reflect off his rusted armour but failed as only Slov's crest is visible. His eyes picked up on the wailing Isan in the mud.

"Wait… I-Isan?! W-What happened?" The man stepped forward a bit and extended his hand but stopped midway.

"Blood…" The man looked at the mud, tracing it all the way back to Jorel's clothes.

"You…Y-You did this hand…D-Didn't you…" The man recoiled back and gripped his fist and removes his sword.

"Till we figure out what happened, you're not going anywhere!" He louded his mouth while he points the sword at Jorel.

"And what makes you say that?" Jorel said as his cape subtely danced in the breeze.

That same crest on his armour…Is he some sort of authority here?

Jorel's eyes focused on the man's chestplate.

"Nhnn…Come with us! Or we'll use force!" The other guard grit his teeth.

"Who do you think you…" His gaze shifted downwards to Jorel's shirt.

T-That symbol…

The other guard trembled.

"W-Wait…I don't think…"He tapped the man on his arm.

"What?!" The man shouted.

"H-He's the…The…" The other guard stuttered. Other peasants came in and passed the guards and Jorel, they walked to meet Isan.

"Quick! Get him to the healer!" One peasant said while grabbing Isan and waved his hand in the air.

"He's losing blood!" An other added as he lifted Isan up. They all then came in and lifted him up, the blood from his hand still dripped as his eyes were watery.

Good I don't want to see his dirty face ever again!

Jorel scorned with his eyes.

Isan, with his drooping eyelids glared at Jorel before he passed beside him.

"Hey!" The man snapped his fingers.

"N-No…" The other guard tugged his arm once more.

"Come on, just spit it out already!" He raised his voice at the other guard while he flicked his hand violently.

"Hmm…" The other guard squirmmed his lips.

"H-He's the nobleman----The one from the Ujochi clan that came earlier today." He squealed.

"W-What?" The man's raised voice immediately faded.

"Look at the symbols on his shirt---that's the Ujochi clan's insignia." The other guard pointed as he slowing backed away.

"H-How are you so sure?" The man asked as his face gradually turned white.

"He was confirmed to be one by the Kumigara himself!"

"Didn't you hear?!" The other guard shook his head with his feet quivering.

"..." The man just stared at the other guard, his hand's grip loosened on his sword.

"I-I'm not dealing with this!"

The other guard turned away with his back facing them and ran off within two bats of an eyelid as his poorly made sword dropped off his waist.

"W-Wait..." The man reached his hand forward towards the fleeing card as he vegun to sweat.

"You were saying?" Jorel crept closer to the man while his face lookee intimating. The man quickly turned back and bowed down without wasting a second of time.

"I'm very sorry sir! Please don't do anything to me!" The man bowed while tears filled up in his eyes.

"I'm a single father!" He pleaded while his body trembled and sweat flowed down in between his armour.

"Just don't make me like Isan!" His voice shied away.

Make you like Isan?!

Hah!

It was even a waste to use a fine weapon like my sword on him, talk alone you!

Jorel let out a slight huff of breath while he looked at the man bowing with what seemed like either tears or sweat on the mud.

"You can go, but do it quickly."

"You irritate me." Jorel said with his condescending voice while he waved off his hand in the air like one does to a pestering fly.

The bowed man raised his head and look at Jorel full of glee and eyes alm teared up as he bowed down once more and dashed away while he picked up the other guard's sword in the mud. The peasants looked at him as he ran.

It is really becoming quite irritating.

Don't they have any sort of vigor in them?

All bowing and begging?

I mean that's who and what they're supposed to do, but...

Jorel's thought was soon interrupting by the neighing of horses and the creaking of wood as it clumped on the path.

"Hmm?" Jorel slowly adjusted his body to look behind him. He saw a carriage painted a dirtied white and some parts chipped off being dragged by frail horses with men riding them.

"Well that waa quick." Jorel muttered to himself while he smirked. The carriage slowed down with the horses going against the forward thrust and they stopped right before him.

One of the men on the horses looked around as his eyes met Jorel, seeing his shirt beneath his cape with the Ujochi's clan's mark.

Must be him…right?

The man thought.
