Chapter 47 - Chapter 47: Sophia!

Night fell, but Flamebright City remained brilliantly lit. Inside the Adventurers' Guild, adventurers from all over clinked glasses, boasting about their various miraculous experiences in the labyrinth.

Hero Julius was among them. Although he was the second prince of Analeit, a person of high status, he didn't act aloof in front of the other adventurers. He raised his cup and drank heartily with everyone.

Suddenly, an adventurer burst in, his face pale with panic.

"Bad news! From the direction of the Elroe Labyrinth, a hundred thousand spider monsters are gathering!" the adventurer stammered.

"What?!" The other adventurers froze. A hundred thousand spider monsters? Even Hero Julius was momentarily stunned by that number.

But then he thought, Flamebright City was a major human city. The Pontiff of the Word of God religion, Dustin, and humanity's strongest mage, Ronandt, were both here.

They wouldn't just stand by and watch the city be destroyed by spider monsters. Besides, the massive Adventurers' Guild headquarters was located here, filled with powerful individuals.

Combined with the tens of thousands of human soldiers, they could kill as many spider monsters as came.

Thinking this, Julius calmed down. The Word of God and the Goddess Religion were the two major religions in this world.

Dustin, the Pontiff of the Word of God, could even be considered the strongest human. He possessed immortality; as long as humanity existed, he would not fall. What were a hundred thousand spider monsters in comparison?

The adventurers in the Guild, however, split into two factions. One group consisted of cowards.

Hearing about a hundred thousand spiders marching on the city, they trembled so hard they nearly wet themselves, secretly sneaking out the back, planning to leave this troubled place as soon as possible.

The other faction was the war-hungry type, determined to help Flamebright City defend itself.

Adventurers, at their core, possessed a strong desire for battle and adventure. A grand scene like a hundred thousand spiders besieging the city wasn't something you saw every day.

Besides, if they successfully defended this major city and repelled the spider monsters, they would surely become famous!

A true man should have lofty ambitions! With such a great opportunity before them, how could they not achieve glory and meritorious deeds?

"A hundred thousand spiders... there are only one or two high-level elite spiders among them."

"That's right! As long as we kill the elite spider monsters, the hundred thousand spider army will lose its leaders and fall into chaos!"

"Don't worry! They definitely can't break through this city's defenses!"

The cowardly adventurers had already slipped away at the first sign of trouble. Those remaining were naturally the ones ready to fight the spider army to the death.

Hero Julius stroked his chin, then asked, "How far are they from Flamebright City now?"

The adventurer who brought the news quickly replied, "Thirty... no, no! Judging by their speed, they might be less than twenty li away now!"

Less than twenty li. They were coming that fast? Julius nodded; it made sense. Among the spider monsters emerging from the Elroe Labyrinth, many were far higher level than humans; their speed couldn't be compared.

Moreover, a monster army on the move was entirely different from a human army campaign.

When humans went to war, there were numerous preparations before the troops even set out: mobilization ceremonies, gathering provisions, and along the way, they had to make camp, cook meals, and rest.

These spider monsters, however, were tireless. Anything in their path would be devoured by their venomous fangs, so they didn't need to prepare supplies.

With a spider leader commanding them, the smaller spiders would charge blindly in the designated direction like headless flies, with no fear of death.

Therefore, whenever a monster army mobilized, its destructive power far exceeded that of a human army, and its marching speed was also much faster.

By that calculation, they had less than four hours before the spider army reached Flamebright City.

"First, evacuate the civilians! Get the ordinary people out of the city to avoid panic! And notify the army commanders and the Guild Master! Tell them to halt all other work and focus entirely on dealing with the spider army!" Julius then turned to some adventurers around him.

"Also, Annie, Sarkath, quickly inform the lords of the outer cities that Flamebright City requests reinforcements!" Julius paused for a moment, then continued addressing the surrounding adventurers.

Though he was only in his teens, he possessed a natural leader's demeanor.

The surrounding adventurers, hearing his words, didn't question or object. They hurried off to relay the orders.

Before long, the news reached the Pontiff and the various city lords. The lords of the outer cities naturally had no objections. If Flamebright City fell, they would be next; it was a matter of mutual survival.

The Lord of Flamebright City, however, was utterly shocked. "What? A hundred thousand spider monsters will attack Flamebright City in four hours?!" The Lord fell silent, his brow deeply furrowed as he looked at his still-infant daughter and his young wife.

Running was impossible. His daughter was still in swaddling clothes; it was too late to move her. And leaving the city now would inevitably lead to an attack by the spider army.

But based on his understanding of his city's defenses, the chances of holding out were slim to none. What should I do?

"My Lord..." Seeing the Lord's distressed expression, his servant, Mera, hesitated, wanting to speak but holding back.

Mera was a loyal servant. He was deeply in love with the Lord's wife his master's wife but for her happiness, he had to keep his love buried deep within.

As a loyal simp with a certain "NTR" interest, no matter what decision his Lord made, he would carry it out with his life.

Even if it meant facing a hundred thousand spider monsters alone, he would not hesitate!

And in her warm cradle... Sophia... or rather, Vampy (Kumo desu character Sophia Keren), opened her large, dark eyes, looking at her worried father. Her quick mind began to ponder.

"What's wrong? What happened? I'm still just a baby; I can't escape on my own. Did something terrible happen outside?"

Sophia was Negishi Shouko, Kumoko's classmate from her previous life. As a girl, she was different from Kumoko. Her appearance was very ugly. She was also ostracized and bullied by her classmates.

But while others bullied Kumoko (or rather, Wakaba Hiiro) out of jealousy for her beauty the tallest tree in the forest always catches the most wind; exceptionally beautiful girls are often targeted by plain-looking ones Sophia was different. In her previous life, she was looked down upon purely because she was so ugly.

Both ostracized, yet treated differently. Sophia instinctively envied Wakaba Hiiro. Why was the ostracized Wakaba Hiiro so beautiful, while she herself was a hideous mess!

More than her classmates who mocked and ridiculed her, she hated Wakaba Hiiro's beauty even more... As the saying goes, "it's not scarcity that breeds discontent, but inequality." If we're both outcasts, you should be as ugly as me! Sophia carried this hatred for Wakaba Hiiro even after reincarnating.

And after reincarnating, Sophia was stunned to find she had drawn the "super-duper lucky stick"! Her reincarnation into this other world brought a complete transformation.

She became the only daughter of a lord. Her parents were not only rich and powerful but also handsome and beautiful.

Her father was handsome, and her mother was a renowned beauty. Even she herself was born cute and pretty.

If she grew up like this, she might become a great beauty like Wakaba Hiiro herself, like a fairytale princess from her dreams.

That's what Sophia was thinking now. So, she really didn't want anything bad to happen to her!

What she didn't know yet was that she possessed dual races: [Human, Vampire]. And her vampire side was a "True Ancestor," meaning she was the first vampire in this world.

Like in those primordial cultivation stories the first treasure ship, the first wisp of clear wind, the first coffin.

As the "primordial first" of this world, she naturally possessed unparalleled advantages. Not only did she have talent skills like [Immortality] and [Mana Operation], but she also started with a terrifying 75,000 skill points! Among all 26 reincarnators, her initial stats were truly outstanding.

But despite drawing such a lucky lot, she never imagined that so soon after her birth, the city she was born in would face such turmoil! She was unwilling! She didn't want to die! Please, someone, you have to let me live...

"Mera, let's go." The Lord didn't sigh for long. He picked up his sword and walked outside.

Without the Lord organizing the defense at the front lines, the city would likely collapse and fall with terrifying speed.

For the city he loved, for his people, and for his wife and daughter, he had to do this!

"Yes, my Lord!" Mera puffed out his chest. He swore to protect his Lady, his Lord, and the young miss.

It was because of this conviction that he possessed a courage stronger than most.
