Chapter 17 - Stay

The office was silent at night. Only the soft hum of the security system and distant city sounds filtered through the windows. I was just about to walk out the glass doors when her voice stopped me.

"You are leaving again."

I turned, startled, and there she was Takamura Reina, my boss. Her figure stood bathed in the faint blue light of the hallway, casting a long shadow behind her. Her voice was calm, but there was something beneath it. Something... trembling.

"B-Boss... the day is over. I finished the reports you asked for. I thought....."

"You thought you could just leave. Again." Her eyes locked onto mine, cold and unreadable. I felt my throat dry up.

She took a step forward. Her heels clicked slowly, deliberately, echoing with each step as if marking a countdown I could not stop. "Do you know what it feels like... to be abandoned?" she whispered.

I froze. I could not understand where this was coming from. She stood now inches away, the scent of her perfume enveloping me in a strange mix of allure and dread.

"I... I do not understand."

She smiled. But it was not a smile of joy. It was fragile. Beautiful, but terrifying. "Of course you do not. That is what makes this fun."

Her hand brushed my collar, fingers trailing to my chest before pulling away. Then she walked past me. "Go home if you must, Haruki. I will see you tomorrow."

The next morning at the Kagurazaka household, everything felt oddly normal. Hinata knocked on my door at 7 AM sharp. "Breakfast is ready!" she called.

I pulled myself from bed slowly. My body still ached from the day before. Nami crossed her arms as I entered the kitchen, eyeing me like a cat watching a cornered mouse. "You look worse than usual," she muttered.

"Good morning to you too," I said, forcing a smile.

Sayaka chuckled from behind the counter. "Rough night, Haruki-kun? Or maybe... exciting?"

Daichi almost dropped his coffee from laughing. Hinata blushed and looked away.

I could not even form a reply. The warmth of this home, their teasing, their kindness, it clashed violently with what I had experienced the night before. I ate quickly and left in a quiet haze.

When I entered the office, it was like stepping into a different world. Cold. Precise. Controlled.

A mountain of paperwork greeted me on my desk. The secretary walked over and leaned in. Her eyes, usually emotionless, held a warning.

"Do what she asks. Without hesitation."

I blinked. "Did she say something about this?"

"She does not need to. You will understand."

I barely had time to process her words before I began. The reports were endless, and my hands ached as I typed.

That was when I sensed her. Her presence, silent but powerful.

I did not turn.

Her perfume wafted in first. Then came the click of her heels. She circled behind me, slowly.

Without a word, she sat on my lap.

"Wha—" I choked.

Her fingers trailed along my shoulders.

"Keep working," she whispered against my ear. "If you stop, I will triple the workload."

I wanted to stand. To push her away. But I could not. My hands trembled as I kept typing, trying to ignore the warmth of her body pressed into mine.

She leaned into my neck, her breath hot, tongue slowly trailing across my skin.

"Do you taste like work, Haruki? Or something else?"

I bit my lip. My body stiffened. I was sweating.

Her hands undid two buttons of my shirt.

She moaned quietly. It was a sound that made my spine curl.

"If you move, I will bury you in ten more files."

"This is not professional..." I managed to say.

She giggled.

"You are not just an employee. You are my pet."

Her hips shifted on my lap, and I nearly jumped.

"Keep working," she said again.

I typed. I typed as if my life depended on it.

Lunchtime. The door opened.

"President, the lunch from—"

The secretary froze.

Reina turned, still seated on me, lips dangerously close to my ear.

"Did I say you could enter?"

"I... I am sorry."

The secretary backed away and vanished.

Reina grabbed the lunchbox, opened it, and plucked out a piece of fried chicken. Just like yesterday, she bit half of it and leaned close. Her lips brushed mine.

"Open."

I did not.

"I said open." Her voice dipped. It was velvet. Dangerous velvet.

I opened my mouth. She pushed the rest in with her tongue. I stared, frozen.

She laughed softly.

"Cute."

I was shaking.

She reached for rice and repeated the act. Feeding me. Slowly. Deliberately.

I could not move. I could barely breathe.

She placed the box aside and slowly moved to straddle me fully again. Her hands trailed along my cheeks.

"Do you remember that night?"

I nodded, slowly.

Her lips hovered just above mine. "That night... you looked beautiful."

My heart raced.

"Are you scared of me, Haruki?"

I could not lie.

"Yes."

She smiled, almost tenderly.

"Good."

She nuzzled into my neck.

I wanted to scream. To cry. To understand. But I could not do anything.

Hours passed. I finished the final report. My back ached. My legs were numb.

As I stood, ready to leave, Reina appeared again. At the hallway. Just like before.

"You are leaving again." Her voice cracked.

I turned. Her eyes were different this time. Not cold. Not angry.

Something raw shimmered beneath.

"Boss... please. I have to go."

She stepped forward. Her fingers found my wrist.

"You always leave. Every time. Do you know what that feels like?"

My chest tightened. She stepped closer, her forehead touching mine.

"Stay."

"Why me? Why this?"

"You are mine. That is reason enough."

She pressed closer. "Just... stay."

Her breath was warm. I could not tell if this was obsession, loneliness, or something darker. I wanted to say no, but her eyes would not let me.

I stayed.

To be continued.
