Chapter 20 - Chapter 20:The interview

Ava's alarm rang, jolting her awake from a restful sleep. She knew today was the day of the interview, and she felt a mix of excitement and nerves. She quickly brushed her teeth, freshened up, and began getting dressed. She chose a cream-colored skirt that paired perfectly with her crisp white shirt, letting her hair fall in soft waves down her back. Next, she selected a pair of brown heels and matched them with a brown bag, completing her outfit. Ava hailed a cab and headed to Nexus Corporation. As she arrived, she gazed up at the impressive building, its 35 floors towering above her.

"Is this what Mily called pretty big?" she wondered to herself. Stepping into the building, Ava approached the secretary at the ground floor.

"I'm here for the interview," she announced. The secretary looked up, her eyes scanning Ava's professional attire before focusing on her face. "What's your name?" she asked. "Ava Martins," she replied confidently. The secretary nodded, her expression professional. "Okay, take the elevator to the 34th floor." Ava nodded and headed towards the elevator.

As she waited for the elevator, she took a deep breath, smoothing out her skirt and checking her bag for any last-minute essentials.

The elevator doors slid open, and Ava stepped inside. She pressed the button for the 34th floor and watched as the numbers ticked by. The elevator ride was smooth and quiet, giving Ava a moment to reflect on her qualifications and experience.

Meanwhile, on the same floor, a conversation was taking place between Alex and his assistant, Rowan.

"Boss, why did you insist on doing this interview yourself?" Rowan asked, his tone laced with concern. "Because I'm bored," Alex responded lazily, his voice dripping with nonchalance. "But you have a meeting at 12," Rowan reminded him, his brow furrowed with worry. "I'll be done before then," Alex replied.

As Alex walked into the building, everybody stood still and bowed their heads, as if the devil himself was passing. Alex's presence commanded respect, and his employees knew better than to cross him. He walked straight to his private elevator, accompanied by Rowan, and pressed the button for the 34th floor. Alex's office was located on this floor, which was exclusive to him and his secretaries. The 35th floor, on the other hand, was reserved for the chairman's office – Alex's uncle.

The elevator doors slid open, and Alex stepped out onto the 34th floor. The atmosphere here was sleek and modern, with a hint of luxury. The floor was adorned with expensive artwork and plush carpeting, giving it a sense of sophistication and elegance.
