"Good job, kid!"
Iron Man complimented Spider-Man.
"Thanks! Actually, the landing wasn't ideal. The new suit is a bit...unfamiliar..."
"No, no, Mr. Stark, that's not what I meant. The suit is perfect, thank you so much!"
Spider-Man seemed to be a chatterbox. Iron Man had only offered a slight compliment, and he immediately launched into a monologue.
"He really is that 'Peter'!"
In front of the screen, Iron Man and Coulson instantly recognized Spider-Man's voice, confirming once again that this Peter was indeed the Peter from the final battle.
"You haven't been idle!"
Captain America, even with Spider-Man having taken his shield, remained as composed as ever, addressing Iron Man.
"You've always been foolish!"
Iron Man seemed a bit angry, a bit helpless. "Dragging Clint into this, pulling Wanda out of a place she didn't want to leave!"
"I'm trying to stop you from splitting the Avengers!"
"We started splitting the moment you signed," Captain America said meaningfully.
"Signed?"
Everyone present keenly noticed this.
It wasn't hard to deduce from these few lines of dialogue that this "signing" was the cause, or at least one of the causes, of the superhero civil war.
It was obvious that Iron Man had chosen to sign, while Captain America had refused, leading to the division of the superheroes into two factions.
"Could this signing refer to the Sokovia Accords?" Captain America speculated.
He knew that in the future, he would refuse to sign those Sokovia Accords, so could that refusal indirectly lead to the outbreak of this civil war?
"We can't be sure right now, Captain. Let's continue watching the footage," Nick Fury said seriously to Captain America.
"Alright, you have to turn Barnes over to us right now! Now!"
Iron Man was visibly losing patience, issuing an ultimatum to Captain America. "Otherwise, a joint special operations command will come and arrest you. They won't hold back, I'm begging you!"
It was apparent that Iron Man was genuinely worried about Captain America.
However, Captain America wasn't so easily swayed. There was no change in his expression.
"Barnes?"
The name made both Iron Man and Nick Fury's hearts skip a beat. They were both keenly aware of the implications.
Barnes... Could it be Bucky Barnes?
They remembered a previous question where Captain America was willing to commit crimes for Bucky. Could this be a premonition?
Sure enough, the camera cut to another scene, showing two more men.
One was Sam Wilson, whom Nick Fury was watching. The other was none other than the Winter Soldier, who had previously fought Iron Man and Nick Fury!
"The Quinjet is in hangar five on the north runway!" Sam Wilson said to Captain America through the communication channel.
"It's him, the Winter Soldier!"
Black Widow was completely dumbfounded. How could the Winter Soldier possibly be Bucky, from the Howling Commandos?
What happened?
"It's Bucky!"
Captain America was exhilarated. It seemed his previous guess was correct; Bucky had indeed been brainwashed by the enemy.
And in the future, he had successfully rescued Bucky.
This was undoubtedly exhilarating news for Captain America.
On the screen.
After hearing Sam's words, Captain America immediately raised his hands above his head.
Hawkeye Barton, who had been lying in wait in the distance, shot an arrow towards Captain America, instantly severing the spider web that had bound him.
"Go, Lang!" Captain America ordered Scott Lang over the comms.
Scott Lang, now the size of an ant, crawled onto Captain America's shield, which Spider-Man was holding.
"Guys, there's something... uh!"
Spider-Man, though he hadn't spotted Ant-Man, sensed something was off and spoke to Iron Man and the others.
Before he could finish, Ant-Man suddenly grew, flipping Spider-Man over and stealing Captain America's shield.
The others had never seen this shrinking and growing fighting style before; perhaps only Nick Fury knew about it.
They were all amazed.
"Good, there are two in the parking lot," Iron Man said, having scanned the area. "One of them is Maximoff. I'll go after her! Rhodes, you take the Captain!"
Iron Man took off, soaring into the air to confront Maximoff.
"There are two in the terminal, Sam and Barnes!" Rhodes also scanned the area, confirming the presence of two targets.
"Barnes is mine!" Black Panther immediately sprinted towards the terminal.
Clang!
Captain America threw his shield, knocking Black Panther to the ground, and the two began to fight.
During the fight, Black Panther displayed his incredibly powerful combat abilities, completely matching Captain America.
Everyone was impressed.
And the full-scale battle between the two factions of superheroes erupted.
Ant-Man and Black Widow were evenly matched, while Spider-Man, fighting the Winter Soldier and Sam at the same time, managed to keep them suppressed.
His performance was truly dazzling.
His ability to climb on glass, walls, and other surfaces like a spider, along with his web-slinging fighting style, amazed everyone.
"Spider-Man, not bad at all!" Iron Man couldn't help but praise.
Sam Wilson could fly, and they'd all seen how formidable the Winter Soldier was. Spider-Man had managed to suppress both of them at the same time. He was undeniably powerful.
"Are there so many monsters in the world now?" Captain America didn't know what to say.
In his time, there were only two monsters: himself and the Red Skull.
But in the future, these kinds of monsters appeared in droves, which Captain America didn't want to see.
As the superhero battle continued, Iron Man caught up with Hawkeye and another woman, who was undoubtedly the one Iron Man had mentioned: Maximoff.
"It's her!"
At this moment, Maximoff's face was completely revealed to everyone.
Everyone realized that it was indeed the woman who had appeared in the analysis of Vision's image.
It seemed that this woman was truly extraordinary.
There was an error in the previous chapter. Ross is not yet Secretary of State; he's a general. Thanks to the readers for pointing it out; it's been corrected. Readers who have already read it don't need to go back; it won't affect the plot.
