Chapter 16 - A Prominent Ally

The Count replied,

"That man took my only family from me, it's obvious that I would avenge them. But.... but Cia.... she is a little girl, I don't think that we should make her go down this path. If it is about her safety, I will take care of that. Alfred, I am sure you have already realized that, though she puts a brave front, she is still a child, and sometimes acts like one. I don't think Cia should avenge her family...."

Sir Alfred said,

"Your Highness, the Princess is wounded, and she thinks that only avenging her family can heal that wound. Hence, I am supporting the princess in this one. Please do not misunderstand."

The Count, with mixed feelings, said,

"Then I will talk to Alicia tomorrow and make her stay out of this."

Sir Alfred agreed to it, knowing that Alicia wouldn't agree to the count's suggestion. The count bid farewell to Sir Alfred and left. Sir Alfred went to his bed to sleep.

In the early morning, the count visited again. He explained to Alicia how dangerous it would be for her to get into this and how she may even lose her life.

Alicia, with strong determination, replied,

" I decide on this knowing all these grandpa. I... I still remember how that man laughed with those assassins. I hate that man. He not only betrayed my father but also everyone's trust in him. I will, for sure, avenge everyone. So, grandpa, I need your help in doing so. Will you help me?"

Count, seeing Alicia's determination, said,

"You are just like your father, with the same stubbornness. Don't worry, Cia, I will help you with everything you need. For sure, I will also strive hard to make you the next Empress."

Alicia, smiling, said,

"Then, grandpa, I need your help in getting a tutor."

The Count looked towards Sir Alfred, who slowly nodded. The Count agreed to Alicia's request. Afterwards, he waved to both of them and boarded his carriage. On the way to the palace, he thought about how much Cia had grown over the years. He smiled and carried on his duty as if nothing had happened.
