"Mom, Dad, Rika, it's finally time. Time to go Plus Ultra!" He muttered to himself as he stepped off the bus. He had been sent to Battle Center B as he glanced up at the enormous building before him.
"So big!" His jaw dropped in excitement as he saw the extraordinarily large area filled with multiple massive buildings for the examination.
"It's time to show my resolve - months of hard work and training." He clenched his fist, a smirk creeping across his face as he stood before the gigantic door.
"Never heard of a fatso taking the hero course in my whole life."
"At the very least, we have one less rival to worry about, huh?"
"Lucky for us."
Shin could feel everyone's gaze fixed on him. 'I feel like the others think they've lucked out because I'm here,' he thought to himself.
"Okay, start! There are no countdowns in real fights! Run, run!" Present Mic exclaimed from his position atop a roof.
The massive doors were pushed open by the surging crowd as they advanced forward to accumulate as many points as possible. Shin cracked his neck, twisted his waist, and flexed his knuckles before taking a deep breath.
Let's go!
He charged into the battleground with intense determination, his mind focused solely on one objective: 'Get as many points as you can.' He sprinted forward while constantly scanning left and right for any Zero-Pointer robots to eliminate.
Still running at full speed, a green robot suddenly burst through a nearby building, forcing Shin to stop abruptly. "Target acquired. I'll kill you," the one-pointer robot growled.
The mechanical foe charged at maximum velocity, swinging its massive fist toward Shin, who effortlessly pivoted sideways before leaping upward and activating his Quirk to slice the robot cleanly in half "One down."
Without wasting a second, Shin raced toward his next target. He took the right path, where he saw numerous Zero-Pointer robots already destroyed by other examinees.
Gritting his teeth, he surged forward as fast as possible in search of his second target when a piercing scream came from the opposite direction. He immediately leaped upward, landing atop a five-story building to survey the environment for his next opponent.
"Found you." He launched himself downward, the impact of his landing cracking the ground beneath him. Before the robot could even initiate its attack on the girl, Shin had already severed both of its arms with his Quirk.
He clenched his fist as tightly as possible and delivered a crushing blow to the robot's head, reducing it to fragments. "Are you alright, my beautiful mademoiselle?" He extended his hand to help the girl to her feet before gallantly kissing her hand, leaving her visibly flustered.
"Thank you for saving me."
After leaving the girl behind, Shin continued his search for the next target. Having wandered through the vast battlefield hunting for point-worthy opponents, he finally reached his thirty-first victory.
Sweat dripped from his brow after defeating so many robots. The sounds of explosions echoed from various directions as thick smoke permeated the air around him.
He saw a girl whose Quirk was based on gravity as she pivoted swiftly, touching a group of seven robots and making them float mid-air.
An evil smile crept across his face as he leaped upwards, smashing all seven robots and stealing the points from the young, beautiful girl. "Sorry for snatching away your points," he muttered as he made his way toward his next opponent.
"Thanks to her, but I'll have to apologize if I ever cross paths with her again."
---CONTROL ROOM–
"Doesn't this year's group look promising?" A woman's voice echoed through a room filled with huge screens displaying the examinees.
"Well, we can't know for sure yet, but take a look at that fat, bald kid. Isn't he amazing?"
"It's true. How can someone that size move so fast and even steal someone else's points? Talk about greed."
"Hahaha, let's see what he's going to do about this."
—
Shin moved swiftly destroying robots to earn more points. Sweats drifted down his brows but he continued advancing forward.
Strings swirled around his palms continuously before he launched it towards the nearby robot. The robot exploded as he charged unto the next target. He swung his hand while tilting his fingers, controlling the strings at will.
The string lunged forward at the incoming robot, tying the robot in his tracks and…. Boom..the robot exploded causing the iron debris to fly and destroy some structures closeby.
"Two minutes left!" Present Mic announced.
'Need more points.' Shin thinks to himself l lunging forward at full speed finding his next target before the time runs out. He shot his string to a nearby 7 story building, using it to swing in the air while observing the whole area from above.
"Two robots east, 3 robots south. That's good." He swung through the air performing a front flip, "laser shot!" The long solidified string emits out from his hand, colliding with the robot's head splitting it in half.
The other robot's fist collided with the ground causing a little earthquake as it destroyed the surface Shin was standing in moments ago before swinging his way from the robots range.
"I think that would've caused all my ribs and bones if that fist touched me." He heard Present Mic voiced echoes throughout the training ground making it just 1 more minute left for the exam to close.
He ran, Shin flicked his fingers. Silky, nearly invisible strings unraveled from his skin, weaving into complex patterns behind him. He wasn't just fighting — he was preparing a battlefield.
He spotted his next target — a two-pointer, small and fast, skittering around the corner. Shin didn't meet it head-on. Instead, he led it, sprinting toward a narrow alley he had silently webbed moments earlier. The robot, programmed to pursue, followed without hesitation.
The instant it entered the trap, the strings snapped closed like a bear trap. They coiled around its treads and joints, yanking it off-balance. With a sharp tug of his hand, Shin tightened the web, slicing into key points. Sparks flew, and the machine collapsed, twitching uselessly.
"Next," Shin whispered, his wrist device blinking the update.
Instead of chasing random robots like the others, Shin retreated into the ruins of a collapsed department store. His strings darted from his fingers, anchoring to broken pillars, shattered beams, and twisted metal frames. In just a few minutes, he transformed the entire store into a giant web — a death trap for any robot that stumbled inside.
From his perch above, hidden behind a crumbling wall, Shin waited.
The bait arrived soon enough.
A three-pointer crashed through the rubble, attracted by the noise and the movement of fleeing examinees. It barreled through the store's shattered windows — and immediately caught on the web. The strings dug into its armor, slowing it down. Shin's fingers danced through the air, tightening and twisting the threads. The robot struggled violently, tearing at the webs, but Shin anticipated every move, reinforcing the trap faster than it could break free.
A final pull — and the robot's arm ripped clean off. Its core sparked, and it fell backward with a heavy crash.
Next!
But Shin wasn't finished. His trap wasn't made for just one.
Two more robots — a two-pointer and a one-pointer — clattered into the web next, ensnared before they even realized it. Shin manipulated the strings expertly, pinning them down and slicing through their joints with brutal efficiency.
Still hidden in the shadows, Shin smiled slightly. His plan was working.
However, time was running short. "30 seconds remaining!" Present Mic voice echoed once again.
The shouts of students and the mechanical grinding of robots filled the air, but over it all, Shin caught the faint hum of the arena's loudspeakers powering up.
Almost over.
A huge shadow fell over the store. Shin's breath hitched — a massive five-pointer stomped into view. It wasn't even chasing anyone. It was just wandering through, an unstoppable wrecking ball.
Shin's strings lashed out in an instant, weaving a secondary trap as fast as he could. He needed to slow it down — and fast.
The robot's foot caught the hidden threads. It staggered, losing momentum for a precious second.
That was all Shin needed.
Launching himself from his hiding spot, Shin threw dozens of strings at once. They coiled around the robot's joints, digging deep into the metal. With every muscle straining, Shin yanked, redirecting the giant's fall. Instead of crushing him or rampaging further, the five-pointer crashed into a half-standing building.
The impact triggered Shin's backup plan — a second layer of strings embedded into the structure. As the building collapsed, heavy debris rained down, crushing the robot completely.
Chest heaving, Shin barely had time to process his victory when Present Mic's voice boomed across the battlefield.
"TIME'S UP! THE EXAM IS OVER!"
The robots froze mid-movement. Examinees across the field either cheered or slumped in exhaustion.
Shin stood there quietly, strings flickering around his fingers like fading light. His whole body ached, but a small smile played on his lips.
His plan had worked. His traps had paid off.
Hopefully he had earned his place at U.A...
