'Bye!' Kelly said moving out of the apartment albeit unwillingly, but she didn't have much of a choice. He had insisted on driving her to the bus stop as she would not a find a taxi anytime soon in that area, but she rejected his offer resolutely saying he was in no condition to do that.
'Get well soon.' she looked at him regretfully in her mind scolding herself for parting ways with him, she inwardly wondered whether she'd ever get a chance to meet him again. And if she does, will her delulu thoughts come to pass?
'I'm already well thanks to you.' he replied earnestly.
'At least give me your number' Kelly asked the same thing for the umpteenth time.
'Kelly we've already discussed this. Us keeping in contact will be problematic so it's best if we just don't, okay?'
'I understand!' Kelly could sense some anger rising in his voice, so she decided to pursue the matter no more. And just like that, she left. Treu entered and shut the door with not even the slightest hesitation while she, like a fool, looked back and even after noticing that he had shut the door still looked back, wishing that maybe he'd open again and at least say a final goodbye. it totally broke her heart_anyway what did she expect. she was the fool in the first place.
Meanwhile...
Calhoun and his men had arrived at the address Amyra had given him earlier. They broke into the house since it was locked and to his dismay, the whole apartment was totally empty. Shit! This girl tricked him. She wants to escape, and he knew it_ he would rather she doesn't try anything funny on him else she wouldn't like the outcome. They entered the cars; him in his own sedan and his men in a van and drove back to the base immediately.
Amyra was not stupid. She knew Treu would not be at that apartment_where everyone who knew him thought he lived. He just stayed there occasionally. Even she herself didn't know where her brother spent his days so at least she sent him there knowing there is a 90% chance Treu wouldn't be there, he must have gone somewhere to recuperate. Her plan was to act all innocent and escape as soon as he left.
Good thing she wasn't taken back to that cell which would make things much easier for her. so not long after Calhoun had left, she also moved out of the room. Is this a hotel or something because it sure looked like one judging from the lengthy corridors and cameras. Geez! do people really need to be so serios about security?
She walked through the stretching corridor before it brought her to a foyer, but she quickly reversed her footsteps at the sight of a guard and in the process, she knocked down an antique vase. Shit!
It would have gotten broken had she not held it just in time_ she wasn't ready to pay of course. Just then one of the guards patrolling around saw her. They all knew her; she was a prisoner who shouldn't leave unless on the order of the boss himself.
She dashed to the door_ there's no way she'd let such a chance slip through her hands. However, she stopped in her tracks when she heard several clicking sounds, she looked around only to find several guns aimed at her. It was as if all the guards had materialized out of nowhere. they all surrounded her.
Amyra nearly cried_ she had only seen this in movies. Never had she anticipated that it would happen to her. She looked at them and noticed that they all had a scorpion tattoo on their left shoulder since they were wearing simple black undershirts that exposed their bulging muscles that could only be attained from serious workouts.
Her eyes widened as realization downed on her; wait a minute is this some sort of mafia gang or something. True, she had heard of mafia activities in Valencia, but it had never occurred to her that she'd be caught in such a predicament. So, all the stories that she had heard were true after all. She raised her hands in the air.
Just outside the base premises, Calhoun happened to see a figure which was very familiar_ he could identify her anytime anywhere.
'Stop the car!' the car stopped immediately as per his order and the tinted window was lowered_ it was her indeed_ Kelly.
With just a mere nod of his head, two burly men moved out and intercepted Kelly.
'Miss, you have to come with us.' One of them said and they both slightly lowered their heads in respect. Kelly looked behind her and her eyes met with Calhoun's eyes_ invisible sparks flew.
'Hmmm...' surprisingly, she didn't object the way she usually would on other days. On the contrary, she walked herself to the car.
The moment she entered, Calhoun shot her a look.
'Brother I_' Kelly started when Calhoun cut her off midway.
'Where were you? Do you know how worried I was? What if something happened to you?' he questioned her without even giving her space to reply anything.
'I knew you were worried and all, but I needed some space. I wanted to be normal for once_ with no one following me around. I wanted to live like Kelly would, not the little miss of the Shelby family. I just wanted to get away from you, yes you! You're so controlling and overprotective I just_ sob' Kelly poured out all her feelings at once and her voice broke into a mix of sobs and incoherent words.
Calhoun hated tears and she knew it. She also didn't think she would cry. it just sort of overwhelmed her. Moreover, she was not one to cry so she also surprised herself.
'Stop crying.' Calhoun said in the nicest tone he could master handing her his own handkerchief. She was long used to his aloof personality and that was already too kind coming from him and she knew better than to press on.
She dabbed at her eyes and blew her nose_ she sort of felt embarrassed, good thing the driver had raised the separating panel beforehand, so her image was still intact.
'I didn't know i made you feel like that.' Calhoun uttered_ that was already a good enough apology coming from him.
'it's okay as long as you do not have to be like that anymore. Besides I can defend myself, so you need not to worry too much about me.
'Im just worried at how many people want to get to me. They know who you are so you might be used as a bait.' Calhoun justified his reason.
' I understand but you have to loosen the security on me a bit. Please! I just hate those bodyguards always trailing me. Promise.
'Hmmm.' Calhoun replied but he didn't promise anything.
'Can I hug you?' Kelly's eyes were sparkling_ he couldn't refuse her. His silence meant a yes so, she just snuggled close to him, wrapping her hands around his waist.
