Chapter 78 - Bob and the “Future of Humanity” Project

As a wise man once said, "if it were easy, then everyone would be doing... it."

Bob's plans were easy enough to understand in theory.

The "Future of Humanity" would be a global initiative to empower people with the tools to improve their own genetic quality through Education and Training.

At the same time, an offer would be made to all willing and consenting Women of legal age: bear Valentine's (Bob's) children, and receive care and resources for life!

It sounded simple… but Bob knew that nothing… came easy. It would require a careful canvassing, a heavenly handling, of sensitive topics and areas… society, after all, was always resistant to change.

What exactly were these sensitive spots, you ask?

Well, first of all, your critics might claim that he was 'playing God' and raise a few concerns.

Firstly and most importantly:

Valentine,How could you guarantee that the women and children involved would be properly looked after?

This was why Valentine, as the extension of Bob's plans, introduced what he termed the 'sperm bank scholarship'.

This would be founded on Transparency. Indeed, It was essential that Bob, as Valentine, be transparent with his offer, and then let people make an informed choice.

These willing and consenting women of legal age would receive resources for life, contingent on actually giving birth to a healthy child, and basically being a good parent.

In fact, It was highly likely that demand would exceed supply. Imagine if you got the chance to have a wealthy CEO and celebrity's child, and be supported for it?!

For many, thinking of the plethora of Pathetic Peters and Letdown Leroys... when faced with the cruel reality of potentially having to settle for this bleak future, it would seem too good to be true in comparison.

There would be many, many women who would want a piece of Daddy Valentine.

Accordingly, there would probably have to be a lottery system put into place, as well as strict vetting and systems in place to ensure that responsible people were selected.

Whilst everyone would be provided at least a minimum sum that guaranteed a blessed life, it was not a free handout, but rather, an incentive-based system, based on actual results and effort, and measured via constantly-evolving measures of excellence, the most crucial being development in Empathy, and Respect and Morals, as well as Actual Results, although of course traditional markers like Academic, Athletic or Artistic ability would also be taken into account.

The current society already understands the importance of supporting all children, for example by providing scholarships for the gifted, so they can improve and give back to society.

Valentine planned to take this support a step further. If his future children had the ability, and demonstrated an inclination, interest, or exceptional ability in an area of learning or field of expertise, then Valentine could also help fund or subsidise their endeavors on a case-by-case basis, allowing his children to develop themselves to their full potential and having a happy and healthy childhood and upbringing surrounded by their friends and peers!!!

And if they were content with just a normal life, free from the pressures of achievement, well Valentine was open minded and didn't expect his kids to be all geniuses or overachievers. He, having risen from F- grade, knew more than anyone that excellence was something difficult to quantify, and diversity was a good thing, and the spice of life. The main thing was that his partners - collaborators - and children would have happy, fulfilled lives.

Would the children be adversely affected by potentially not having a dad?

Never fear. Whilst single-parenting was commonplace already in society, Valentine knew that common didn't mean right or ideal. Women, if they wished, would be given access to a holographic robot AI 'father' which could be customized cosmetically to taste and who essentially fulfilled all the functions of a traditional dad, like affirming the wife, meeting her needs, and without a lot of negatives such as traditional absences made necessary due to having to work to put food on the table!

Moreover, the moms could still find a willing real life human partner anyway, so long as everyone was made aware of the expectations - that the safety, care, and healthy nurture of all parties, in particular the children, was paramount, with serious consequences for any abuse of privilege.

A child raised in this way, whilst progressive, was not something without precedent. Traditionally, dads and even sometimes moms were often absent from home often due to having to work to put food on the table and those were the responsible ones. People would often remarry after divorce, with varying results.

This is why schools were created - education and raising of children was essentially something all of society took part in. Accordingly, one could argue that Valentine, was absolutely being responsible in looking after both moms and children, providing the mom both time and opportunity to be fully present in their child's nurture, care and upbringing. Valentine was essentially redefining and innovating on the traditional model of child-raising.

Okay then. What if the children and mothers were labelled as 'different' and stigmatised?

There is always a slight concern of stigma from being 'different', but prototypes of technology-assisted births existed in society already, with IVF babies, and regardless of their means of conception, a child was a child.

Valentine's plan here was to make his "sperm bank scholarship" increasingly a possibility available to all people with means, a program open for public signups, and an increasingly prevalent and viable alternative to the traditional parenting model.

After a while, as it became a more common fixture and increasingly normalised option for parenting, the "sperm bank scholarship" concept would become increasingly accepted, and possibly even popular... a holy grail for men with means!
