A Spider Doubt
After losing sight of Mother, I ordered a few spiders to go and bring her here, but something unexpected happened.
{Sorry, little one, I need you to stay back for now; she still needs to grow stronger!}
"Eh, who are you!? And where are you?"
I said as I looked around me, unable to find the source of the voice.
{I can't tell you exactly who I am, but just know that I'm here to help you and her out.}
'To help me!? Who exactly is this person? And who is he talking about? ... Wait, could it be...?'
{That is right, I'm talking about your mother.}
'So she really was mom!... Wait, did he just read my thoughts?!'
After hearing what he said, I breathed a sigh of relief; to hear somebody confirming my doubt was enough for me. To know that mom was really there.
But my happiness did not last long; it seemed like that person had some bad intentions toward her.
"What are you planning to do to mom?"
{She needs to quickly grow stronger; if not, she will not be able to survive.}
"What do you mean? Who is after mom?"
{...Once the time comes, I will tell you everything you need to know. For now, I'll take some of your spiders.}
"Wait! What?"
{Please take care of her; she is still incomplete. And once the time comes, go back home; you will find me waiting there.}
"Wait! What do you mean?"
I shouted, but no one replied.
"Who was that? And what does he want from mom?"
I was feeling uneasy about all that happened, so I decided to go to Mother by myself, but shockingly, something happened.
"What are you planning to do!?"
I said with a threatening air to the group of spiders in front of me.
It looked like they were trying to keep me here. After I almost killed some of them, more kept on coming and blocking my path. At some point, even a few spider generals had come by.
"Are you serious?! , this joke is going too far!"
I said unable to control my anger any further. Mom was one step away from me, and these idiots were keeping on blocking me.
As I raised an arm to kill them all, one of my arachne maids stood in front of me as well.
"Are you kidding!"
I said as I completely released my bloodlust. Unable to handle it all, the maid and the general present in the room fell to their knees, while the small spiders were barely staying alive, but the general and the maid were barely staying conscious.
"M-My queen, please calm down. I-I think these spiders are being controlled by somebody!"
"Explain yourself."
"By looking at their eyes, it looks like they can't even see us anymore, see..."
She said as she waved her hand in front of the spider general, and the last one didn't have any reaction at all.
After hearing what the maid said, I calmed myself and looked at the general's eyes, and indeed they looked like zombie eyes.
"Who can interfere with my [Kind Control] to such an extent!"
'Hmm...Could it be that voice from earlier!?'
I thought as I took my distance from the spiders.
"My queen, what do you plan to do now?"
The same maid asked me after she stood up and regained her composure. I took a moment to think about it, and I just came up with one answer.
"Nothing!"
"EH! Sorry, but why?"
"I mean, whoever did this, it seems he is not planning to attack us, or he would have done it already, and militarily speaking, if he wanted to attack, it does not make sense that he controls the generals instead of you, Arachnes; and lastly, if I keep on fighting the controlled spiders, he will just keep on sending more to block my way, so it is better to just wait and do nothing."
"I see, indeed it is the most intelligent thing to do, but are you sure about it?"
"Naturally I'm not going to stand aside when somebody is messing with Mother!"
I angrily shouted before connecting my vision to one of the spiders running towards the ingress of this place.
After running for a while, I could see mom flying in the distance.
"Damn it, if only this spider were faster, I could reach her before the other!"
In that moment I tried over and over again to control that spider, but I was not able to do it at all But out of nowhere all the spiders started to run faster as if they received
a buff from somebody.
'Damn this fucker that took control of my kind!'
I thought preparing myself mentally to see the imminent fight.
Mother was able to close the doors, but considering the actual situation, I was not sure if it was going to be enough to block them.
And indeed they didn't last long; the spiders' general on the back moved to the front line and kept on charging toward the doors at full speed. After repeatedly
Doing so a few times, they were able to destroy the doors to the outside.
Before any of the spiders could move outside of the hallway, I saw an enormous dark sphere fling right to the broken doors, blocking our path outside.
"Such a size and power is not something every monster can do. Funny fact: all the spiders are running mindlessly toward it. It is as if they are just here to make mom stronger."
It has been some time since the fight started, and almost half of the spiders have died, but apparently mother was losing a lot of mana to maintain the huge dark ball because the other spheres that came after the first one exploded were smaller, and some spiders were able to go out of the hallway.
I switched my vision multiple times in the course of this fight; at some point I changed it with that of the outside spiders who were attempting to attack mother.
Looking around me, I saw the rocks starting to crumble to the size of a hand and fling toward the spiders close to Mom, instantly killing them.
I was growing more and more frustrated, unable to get out of my room.
I was not able to help her in any way, and no matter how much I tried to control this spider, it would not move the way I wanted it to. I was feeling so uselessly powerless.
