Volume 1 Chapter 12: Junior Sister Is Jealous

. . . . . . . . . . . .

Though the process was a bit rough, the result was ultimately a good one.

After several rounds of CPR performed by Pei Lengxue, aided by Ye Anping's self-made Coagulation Pill, Feng Yudie's condition finally stabilized.

But only stabilized.

Ye Anping checked her pulse again afterward, carefully examining her condition.

Her meridians were completely shattered, her spiritual energy in utter disarray, and her body was on the verge of collapse.

Even with her outstanding spiritual root, she wouldn't be able to recover from such injuries without at least a month or two of rest.

But the disciple selection event for the Profound Star Sect was in just two short months.

At this rate, Feng Yudie would surely miss it. And if she did, she'd have to wait another five years for the next chance to join the sect.

The best solution now would be to bring her back to the Hundred Lotus Sect and have his father treat her injuries—then send her off to the Profound Star Sect.

But if he did that… the Hundred Lotus Sect would inevitably become entangled with this protagonist, who seemed to bring trouble wherever she went.

'What a headache…'

Ye Anping pondered for a while and finally made a decision: he would take Feng Yudie back to the Hundred Lotus Sect for treatment.

The future of this world had already started to shift.

The Hundred Lotus Sect hadn't been wiped out.

His junior sister hadn't been captured by Wu You to be turned into a cultivation furnace.

The more he changed, the more the future would become uncertain.

Feng Yudie—who should've been saved by some nameless passing cultivator—was now rescued by him, a supposed cannon fodder.

Plus, the fifth volume of the Mysterious Yin Art, which had been in Wu You's possession, was now in his hands.

If Feng Yudie missed her opportunity to enter the Profound Star Sect, the main storyline would go completely off the rails.

"Junior Sister, carry her. We'll take her back to the Hundred Lotus Sect. I'll ask my father to heal her."

"...Huh?" Pei Lengxue looked surprised, glancing at Feng Yudie before asking, "Why don't we just take her to the clinic in town?"

"If she stays in a clinic, it'll take her at least two months to be able to walk. If we go back and have my father treat her using his true essence, she'll be up in three days."

"…"

Ask the Sect Master to use his true essence to heal her?!

Hearing her senior brother say this, Pei Lengxue instantly felt sour.

Why was her senior brother being so nice to this woman?

Saving her life—fine, that made sense. They were both cultivators, and it wasn't wrong to lend a hand in such cases.

But why was he going so far as to ask the Sect Master to personally expend his own energy to treat her?

She looked again at Feng Yudie's face and begrudgingly admitted—she was very pretty.

Could it be that Senior Brother was planning to use this "life-saving grace" as a way to win her heart?

—Senior Brother, how could you?! You already have me, your Junior Sister! And you're still being so nice to another girl?!

In the bamboo forest, a sour jealousy quietly spread.

Ye Anping stepped onto his flying sword.

"What's wrong?"

"Stupid Senior Brother."

"…?"

"Hmph!"

Pei Lengxue scrunched her nose in a pout. Then, with zero gentleness, she slung Feng Yudie over her shoulder like a sack of rice, summoned her flying sword, and shot up into the sky.

Ye Anping blinked, stunned for a moment. Then he let out a long, helpless sigh and followed after her.

"…Is Lengxue going through a rebellious phase?"

. . . . . . .

By the time they returned to the Heavenly Pavilion of the Hundred Lotus Sect, the one greeting Ye Anping and Pei Lengxue…

…was Ye Ao's face—bulging with veins of rage.

"Oh? Had your fun? You still remember how to come back, huh?"

"Dad…" Ye Anping gave an awkward smile. "We weren't out playing around. Didn't I leave you a note before we left?"

"Heh. I saw it. You said you were taking that Pei girl to kill the Grand Elder of the Poison Gu Sect."

"Exactly! That's what we did."

Ye Ao's eye twitched. Unable to hold back, he slapped a hand toward Ye Anping's head.

Ye Anping quickly leaned back to dodge and raised his hand in protest.

"Dad, your son just came back from a brush with death. And instead of giving me a hug, you greet me with a slap?"

"Hmph—you little brat…"

At that moment, Kong Yulan, who had apparently heard the commotion from inside, came hurrying out.

The moment she laid eyes on Ye Anping, her eyes filled with tears. With the speed of a sprinter, she shoved Ye Ao aside and threw her arms around Ye Anping.

"Ah~!! My dear Anping, are you hurt anywhere?"

She tugged at his collar, checking him over from head to toe.

"Mother was so worried about you! When I heard you were going after the Poison Gu Sect's Grand Elder, I cried for days! If something had happened to you, how would I go on living~~~"

Ye Anping stumbled back a few steps from her emotional embrace, replying helplessly, "Mom, I'm back, aren't I? And that Grand Elder of the Poison Gu Sect is dead too."

"Really?!"

"Really."

"That's my boy! So amazing!" Kong Yulan beamed with pride, ruffling his hair and planting several kisses on his cheeks. "I'm just glad you're home."

Ye Ao rolled his eyes at the overly affectionate pair.

"Yulan, this brat just snuck off to play. If he really did run into the Poison Gu Sect's Grand Elder, you think he'd be standing here right now?"

"Why not?" Kong Yulan shot back with a frown. "My Anping is amazing."

"Your Anping is only at the third layer of Qi Refining."

"So what?"

"A Qi Refining Realm cultivator facing a Core Formation Realm one, he…" Ye Ao took a deep breath. "If this brat really killed a Poison Gu Sect Grand Elder, I'll stand on my head and kowtow thirty times!"

"…"

Kong Yulan gave him a glance and didn't bother arguing any further. She turned back to Ye Anping and asked, "You must be hungry, right? What do you want to eat? I'll go cook something special for you."

"Later, maybe."

Ye Anping gently nudged his mother aside, then turned and raised an eyebrow at his father.

"You said you would stand on your head and kowtow thirty times?"

"…Huh?" Ye Ao blinked, then nodded. "Yeah? I did. So what?"

Ye Anping smiled faintly, raised his hand in a sword gesture, and pulled out several items from his storage bag—various magical tools and an identity badge that once belonged to Wu You.

He handed them directly to Ye Ao.

"…"

Ye Ao froze for a moment when he saw the items, then quickly stepped forward and began inspecting them one by one with a serious expression.

After confirming that the items were indeed magical tools that only a Core Formation Realm demonic cultivator would possess—and verifying the authenticity of the identity badge—Ye Ao's expression instantly stiffened. His brows furrowed seriously.

"Where did you get all of this, brat?"

"I told you—Poison Gu Sect's Grand Elder." Ye Anping shrugged and stated, "Lengxue and I killed him together. He should've been a cultivator at the peak of Core Formation Realm, nearly at the Nascent Soul Realm. He went by the Dao title 'Wu You.' Don't know his real name."

"You and that Pei girl?" Ye Ao glanced again at Pei Lengxue, who was waiting outside, still unable to believe it. "You two are just Qi Refining Realm cultivators. How did you kill a Core Formation Realm one?"

"Well, that's a long story. I'll explain it in detail later. But before that…"

Ye Anping paused, then turned and signaled to Pei Lengxue to bring Feng Yudie inside.

Pei Lengxue understood, but she pouted unhappily. Still, she slung Feng Yudie—who had been leaning against the doorway—over her shoulder and unceremoniously dumped her in front of Ye Ao.

Thud!

Feng Yudie bounced twice after hitting the ground.

Ye Anping was momentarily stunned. 'Why couldn't she be a bit gentler?' But he didn't press it and quickly asked, "Dad, can I trouble you to use your true essence to heal her?"

Ye Ao's brows creased slightly as he swept his spiritual sense over Feng Yudie.

Upon sensing her spiritual root's quality, he was dumbfounded.

"This girl… have a Heavenly Spiritual Root?"

"Yep. Heavenly Spiritual Root. Her name is Feng Yudie," Ye Anping leaned in to explain. "She was the disciple of the reclusive True Immortal Tai Xu from the the Profound Star Sect. Taixu passed away last year, so she took her recommendation letter and set out for the sect. But on the way, she ran into that Poison Gu Sect Grand Elder and was badly injured…"

As he explained, Pei Lengxue's eyes nearly popped out of her head.

—Why does Senior Brother know all this?!

"Dad, there are only two months left until the Profound Star Sect's disciple selection event. In her condition, she definitely won't make it in time. Please, could you use your true essence to heal her?"

"True Immortal Tai Xu…"

Ye Ao was also puzzled as to how Ye Anping knew that name, but figured the girl must have told him herself. He understood but still seemed hesitant.

If Feng Yudie were on the verge of death, he might consider stepping in to heal her. But now that her condition had stabilized, it wasn't really urgent.

True essence wasn't the same as spiritual energy—it could only be cultivated slowly over time, drop by drop each year.

He wasn't running a charity. Why should he expend his hard-earned true essence on some stranger?

"Anping, you know that true essence is—"

"I'll do it!!" Kong Yulan interrupted loudly.

Ye Ao looked at her in surprise. "Huh? Yulan?"

"It's fine. Just a bit of true essence. I'll heal her."

Kong Yulan winked at Ye Anping, apparently having misunderstood something. She immediately picked Feng Yudie up and carried her into the inner room.
