Card of Sanctity!
Dimitri refilled his hand, laughing, "My unbreakable bond with my deck has brought another miracle!"
Everyone: "…"
Why are you so convincing with a deck you stole?
"Now the real battle begins. Watch closely," Dimitri declared. "I activate the Spell Card 'Dark Magic Veil'! I pay 1000 LP to Special Summon a DARK Spellcaster from my hand or graveyard."
[Dimitri, LP 1850→850]
"Come forth! My true ace, the strongest servant across millennia—"
"—Dark Magician, summon!!"
A black magic circle formed on the ground, and the Dark Magician flew forth, his green staff spinning before landing in his hand amid a storm of magic.
[Dark Magician, ATK 2500]
The atmosphere ignited; the crowd erupted.
"Dark Magician! It's Dark Magician!"
The signature card of the Duel King—a legendary, ultra-rare card!
"Next, I activate 'Bond Between Teacher and Student'," Dimitri continued. "If Dark Magician is on my field, I Special Summon 'Dark Magician Girl' from my deck! The greatest disciple now appears—"
"—Dark Magician Girl, summon!"
A girl danced onto a floating magic circle. Her golden hair shimmered, her skin glistening, her figure graceful, and her robes swirled with her lively movements.
Some cultured students' eyes went wide.
In short: gorgeous, curvy, and fair-skinned.
Another wave of excited cheers.
"Dark Magician Girl!"
"Dimitri, you madman!"
The gentlemen instantly united, grateful to Dimitri for letting them see the famous waifu in action.
Getting to see both Dark Magician and his apprentice live was already a major win today.
"Bond Between Teacher and Student's follow-up effect: I set 'Dark Magic Attack' from my deck."
Dimitri set a new card.
'Dark Magic Attack'—if you control Dark Magician, destroy all your opponent's Spell/Trap cards.
"A Spell/Trap wipe with Dark Magician, huh," Kira said. "That would be a problem—so I activate a set card.
Quick-Play Spell—Detonate.
Destroy all face-up 'Kuriboh' and 'Kuriboh Tokens' I control, then destroy up to that many cards you control."
"NANI?" Dimitri was shocked.
A suicidal Kuriboh attack!?
This was a move Yugi used back in the Duelist Kingdom: Kuriboh could multiply and self-destruct infinitely (according to anime logic), and now, with updated rules, this card gives that power form.
"I have three Kuriboh Tokens left. So I destroy your three cards: 'Dark Magician', 'Dark Magician Girl', and 'Dark Magic Attack'!"
"Kuri!"
The three Kuribohs launched themselves at their targets.
BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!
Three explosions. Dimitri's field was wiped clean. The legendary magician pair didn't last a turn.
Kuriboh: "Kuri! (Who's the ace now?)"
Dimitri was speechless.
Kuriboh! Again!?
I finally summoned the magician duo—the legendary monsters!
Can't I just have a little fun!?
The audience was heartbroken.
Damn, we finally got to see the magician duo, and they were gone in seconds.
"Bastard…!"
Dimitri gritted his teeth.
"I activate 'Pot of Avarice'! Shuffle five monsters from my grave into my deck, then draw two."
He showed five monsters: King's Knight, Queen's Knight, Jack's Knight, Dark Magician, and Dark Magician Girl.
He drew two, his mood instantly brightening.
"Heh, looks like my deck hasn't given up on me. This card is perfect to end our duel.
Now, I'll summon the deck's strongest monster—the Duel King's greatest warrior!
I banish 'Kuriboh' (DARK) and 'White Magician Pikeru' (LIGHT) from my graveyard.
The legendary warrior now descends—"
He raised a hand and shouted.
"Come forth: Black Luster Soldier – Envoy of the Beginning!"
Dark clouds roiled, and golden light crashed down. The legendary swordsman emerged, bathed in holy radiance.
[BLS – Envoy of the Beginning, ATK 3000]
"I knew it," Kira smiled. "Black Luster Soldier."
The spirit of BLS appeared next to him.
"Looks like we're the same type of monster," Kira joked. "But I won't go easy on you. The next scene might not be pretty; I suggest you avert your eyes."
The BLS spirit: "…"
Recalling all the torture his master did in duels, he decided Kira probably wasn't kidding.
So he nodded and quietly retreated to the deck—to avoid psychological damage.
Dimitri: "The power of the strongest warrior—no one at this academy knows it better than you, Kira! And now, I wield that power!
Battle! BLS attacks Catapult Turtle!"
Kira snapped his fingers, "Flip Trap: Continuous Trap 'Fiendish Chain'. Your BLS is bound, can't attack, and its effects are negated."
Green chains shot out, tightly binding BLS.
Dimitri: "…"
He suddenly realized—
With this so-called strongest deck, legendary monsters kept appearing, but he hadn't managed to land a single attack.
Dimitri's face twitched.
On the surface he was calm, but inside he screamed:
Please, just let me attack once—just once!
"I set a card," Dimitri said grimly. "Turn end!"
"My turn," Kira announced.
"Too bad you couldn't break through last turn. Looks like this is it for you.
I activate 'Five Star Twilight'. Tribute a Level 5 monster to Special Summon the Kuriboh Brothers from my hand or deck!
I tribute 'Catapult Turtle'—come forth!
Kuriboh Brothers!"
[Kuriboh, ATK 300]
[Kuribah, ATK 300]
[Kuribee, ATK 300]
[Kuriboo, ATK 300]
[Kuribeh, ATK 300]
Five colorful, fluffy Kuribohs.
Also from DM-era Yugi's Kuriboh deck, realized as real cards years later.
Dimitri's eyes bulged.
Five Kuribohs at once!?
What new torment awaits me?
"I equip 'Rainbow Blessing' to Kuriboh," Kira said. "Tribute the equipped monster, and all my monsters can attack you directly this turn!" (anime card)
Another DM-era Kuriboh-exclusive spell.
"Direct… attack?" Dimitri looked fearfully at the five Kuribohs.
Tribute Kuriboh with Rainbow Blessing, the other four can attack directly. Each has 300 ATK, for a total of 1200 damage.
[Dimitri, LP 850]
Dimitri nearly laughed in disbelief.
I have the strongest deck in history, and I'm going to be killed by four Kuribohs!?
What an insult!
Dimitri: "I activate my set card! Trap Card—Dust Tornado! Destroy one Spell/Trap on the field!
I destroy 'Rainbow Blessing'!"
A sandstorm swept the field, shattering the rainbow light.
"As long as I destroy it before you tribute Kuriboh, I have nothing to fear," Dimitri's face was twisted. "So? Can you still humiliate me with those weaklings?"
Dimitri rested his chin on his hand.
The kid's losing it—he's even calling Kuriboh weaklings.
He closed his eyes.
"Fine," Kira said quietly. "Since you asked, let me show you the Kuriboh deck's most vicious, most evil, final trump card."
Dimitri felt his heart skip a beat.
The Kuriboh deck's most vicious and evil trump card?
Though he talked big, after this duel, he could no longer underestimate the fluffy one-star ball. Hearing this, he swallowed nervously.
He had a bad feeling something terrible was coming…
"I activate 'Metamorphosis': Tribute one monster to Special Summon a Fusion Monster of the same Level.
I tribute Level 1 'Kuriboh'! Now, transform into a new form—the phantasmal monster—"
"—Thousand-Eyes Restrict, summon!"
Kuriboh was engulfed in the darkness of Metamorphosis, transforming into the terrifying, many-eyed horror that drains sanity.
[Thousand-Eyes Restrict, ATK 0]
Dimitri was stunned.
The Kuriboh deck's final form!?
Your Kuriboh evolves into this thing!?
Seriously, Metamorphosis!?
How do you mutate a Kuriboh into that!?
"Thousand-Eyes Restrict's effect activates," Kira waved. "Once per turn, absorb an opponent's monster as an equip card.
I absorb BLS—Envoy of the Beginning."
Dark energy swirled. BLS cried out as he was sucked into the monster. He struggled, but his sword did nothing against the formless darkness.
First, his head vanished into the void, then his arms and sword, then his body…
The nearby spirits, Jinzo and Silent Magician watched in silence:
The master wasn't kidding about not holding back.
No wonder he suggested BLS spirit retreat—this could be traumatic.
Just look at Dimitri.
His eyes had lost all light.
"My BLS… even BLS got…"
He was so humiliated he could almost cry.
"Then I activate 'Soul Release'," Kira said calmly.
Dimitri: "!"
He's not attacking directly!?
Kira smiled.
"When you activated Royal Straight Slasher, you sent five monsters (Lv 1–5) to the graveyard. If I'm not mistaken, Yugi's deck contains a Level 4 'Electromagnetic Turtle'.
In your opponent's Battle Phase, you can banish it from your grave to end the Battle Phase—a powerful lifesaver."
Dimitri opened his mouth, speechless.
He saw through even that!?
"Soul Release lets me banish up to five cards total from both graveyards. So before entering Battle Phase, I banish those five, including your Electromagnetic Turtle."
Dimitri: "!!!"
Even Electromagnetic Turtle was countered!?
He stared at Kira in disbelief.
With the strongest deck and such perfect tactics, he'd been suppressed from start to finish.
You're the real Duel King, aren't you!?
"Battle," Kira ordered, "with Thousand-Eyes Restrict—"
But halfway through, he paused and reconsidered.
"Never mind. Kuriboh Brothers," he said, "attack directly."
Dimitri: "You @!#%&!"
The four Kuribohs soared: "Kuri!"
Brotherly headbutt combo!
For Kuriboh, "attack" meant a full-body headbutt. The fluffy balls rolled up and charged.
Lethal damage, maximum disrespect.
[Dimitri, LP 850→0]
