Chapter 208 - Chapter 208: Must Be Something Bad

[Double update]

Dimitri: "NANI!?"

D.D. Warrior Lady!?

Isn't that a banisher!?

"D.D. Warrior Lady's effect," Kira explained. "When she battles an opponent's monster, both monsters are banished from play."

He pointed at the two monsters.

"So, both D.D. Warrior Lady and Royal Straight Slasher are banished."

The warrior woman launched a suicidal dimensional slash, ripping open space. Both warriors were sucked into a dark vortex and vanished.

Dimitri's eyes turned red: "Royal Straight Slasher…"

He'd worked so hard to pull off such a cool combo, and finally summoned a legendary monster—

At least let me attack once!?

It didn't even get to swing its sword? That's just tragic!

The students gasped.

So it seems even legendary monsters can be banished in one blow.

And from their perspective, Dimitri had already done something amazing, summoning such a monster and clearing the field. Just seconds ago, many were impressed by his Duel King style.

Who would have thought the graveyard was a trap, and that this chain combo would bring out a banisher?

Who can survive this!?

It seemed like Yellow Dorm's unspeakable legend had the upper hand.

"Damn it, even after wiping the board, I still can't stop it…" Dimitri gritted his teeth. "I set a card, turn end."

"My turn, draw," Kira said. "In my Standby Phase, since I have no Spells or Traps in my back row, I can Special Summon 'Treeborn Frog' from my graveyard."

A little frog with a halo hopped onto Kira's field.

[Treeborn Frog, ATK 100]

Dimitri focused. "The other card you discarded with Graceful Charity, huh?"

"Spell Card 'Pot of Greed', draw two more." Kira drew, then revealed another card. "Quick-Play Spell 'The Flute of Summoning Kuriboh'. Special Summon a Kuriboh from my deck!"

[Kuriboh, ATK 300]

"Another Kuriboh?"

Dimitri, still traumatized from the last Kuriboh trap, felt a chill when another one popped out.

Am I going to die to this thing today?

"Quick-Play Spell 'Multiply'. Tribute Kuriboh to Special Summon as many Kuriboh Tokens as possible."

Kuriboh split into four tokens.

[Kuriboh Token, ATK 300] x4

"Next, I activate the Spell 'Card of Burial Magic'. Banish 'Graceful Charity', 'Multiply', and 'Spellbook Organization' from my grave to draw two cards."

Kira drew.

Dimitri said, "But even if you summon more Kuriboh—"

"I equip 'United We Stand' to a Kuriboh Token," Kira said. "It gains 800 ATK for every monster I control."

Dimitri: "!"

Equipping United We Stand to a Kuriboh Token? That's—

"Right. I have five monsters, so—"

[Kuriboh Token, ATK 300→4300]

Dimitri's face went pale: "A 4300 ATK Kuriboh!?"

The audience was shocked: "A Kuriboh stronger than Obelisk the Tormentor!"

Kuriboh: "Kuriri! (Let's see who calls me a weakling now!)"

But Dimitri quickly regained composure, "I activate my set card 'Threatening Roar'! You can't attack this turn!"

A roar echoed, sealing all of Kira's attacks.

"A lockdown, huh."

Dimitri seemed a bit rattled by the 4300 ATK Kuriboh, burning his Threatening Roar early. Not that it mattered.

"I haven't normal summoned yet," Kira said, "so I tribute 'Treeborn Frog' to Tribute Summon—"

He paused, smiling slyly as he drew his card.

"A monster perfect for this duel, another soul card from the original Duel King—"

That grin made Dimitri's heart skip a beat.

He'd just been wrecked by Kuriboh, now he had a bad feeling this next card wouldn't be any better.

"Tribute Summon, Level 5, Catapult Turtle!"

[Catapult Turtle, DEF 2000]

Dimitri: "Catapult Turtle!?"

He recognized it—his deck had it too.

"Catapult Turtle's effect: tribute a monster to inflict half its ATK as damage to your opponent. Kuriboh Tokens can be tributed for effects, so I tribute the Kuriboh Token with 'United We Stand'—deal half its ATK as damage!"

Kuriboh: "Kuri!"

Kuriboh leaped onto the turtle's launcher and was fired like a cannonball, smacking Dimitri in the face with a bang!

[Dimitri, LP 4000→1850]

"Damn it…!"

The Duel King's trump card.

When people think of Yugi's ace, don't they picture Dark Magician, BLS, or Big Shield Gardna?

Why is it Kuriboh and Catapult Turtle with you?

The students noticed too.

"Wait, isn't Kira using all Yugi's monsters today?"

"Looks like it…"

The students exchanged odd looks.

Suddenly, it felt like they were watching a Duel King civil war.

But why did it feel so different between the two, even though both used Yugi's cards?

"I set two cards, turn end," Kira said.

Dimitri dusted himself off and stood.

Catapult Turtle's effect isn't limited per turn. Is he keeping it for a stronger defense next turn?

True, tributing all remaining tokens plus the turtle would only add 950 damage—not enough to win, and could trigger a survival buff.

"No, I won't accept this."

Dimitri stood tall.

"I have the Duel King's deck—the strongest fighting force in history!"

"I won't lose again—not to anyone!"

He closed his eyes, drew a deep breath, and reached over his deck.

"My soul deck, if you can hear me—please, once more… lend me your strength!"

The crowd was confused.

"Wait, isn't that a stolen deck?"

"Uh, yeah, I think so."

Kira: "…"

Soul deck, huh? This guy's deep into the role.

Still, Dimitri did have a talent for mimicry. The pose, the mood—it might work.

"Draw!"

Dimitri's eyes lit up as he raised his card.

"Spell Card 'Card of Sanctity'! Both players draw until they have six cards in hand!" (Anime Effect.)
