Chapter 5 - Chapter 5: Upgrade to C-Level, Gain 2 Abilities

The parents realized for the first time that being a lord was so profitable.

"By the way, Rosen, I saw you easily killing those monsters earlier, one per strike. Your hero doesn't seem weak, so why is it a D-level hero template?"

Rosen was about to answer his father when suddenly a voice appeared in his mind:

"Please conceal the strength of the hero template, and receive a reward: one [Hero Level Up Ticket]!"

Host? What is that? It seemed as if a shadow had appeared in my head...

Rosen instinctively realized that he might have received a system just like the protagonists in novels!

Since traveling to another world had already occurred, having a system could be understood.

Considering the need to conceal his powerful hero template to avoid foreign forces gaining knowledge, plus the system's reward.

Rosen said to his parents, "The newbie protection period is like that; the demons appearing in the territory are very weak. However, Mom and Dad should still stay inside the castle, as even the weakest demons aren't something ordinary people can handle."

"No wonder," the parents said.

They naturally believed Rosen's words as both the school and society had said Rosen awakened as the weakest hero.

They even wanted to drive their family out of the Central Plains.

Clearly, it could only be because the demons earlier were too weak.

At this moment, Rosen felt a flicker of light in front of him.

In the lord's interface, an evolution ticket appeared in the storage space.

These interfaces that surfaced were technologies that could only be activated after becoming a lord; they were the basic settings of this Lord World.

Rosen tried to open the scroll and chose to use it.

In the virtual space where his parents couldn't see, an evolution scroll was used.

A light descended on Rosen's Golden Slime template.

The hero, originally with D-level attributes, had evolved.

Rosen saw a horn growing atop the Slime's head, somewhat resembling a dragon's horn.

"Could the Slime's ultimate evolutionary form become a Golden Dragon?"

When Rosen transformed back into Slime form, he found he had successfully evolved from D-level to C-level.

Though the current level is still far from A-level, in terms of basic attributes, it has surpassed A-level heroes and almost reached S-level.

After leveling up, Rosen's attack, defense, and health values increased, in addition to gaining two new abilities, "Berserk" and "Invincibility".

This made Rosen feel eager to find a few targets to test out his newfound strength.

And he could earn some Lord Coins, converting them into living expenses.

Having this thought, he acted immediately.

Rosen first summoned another Beastman Soldier from the barracks.

Summoning a Beastman Soldier costs 150 Gold Coins, 0 wood.

Just after summoning it, Rosen's gold reserves ran out.

He glanced at the three Beastman Soldiers following him, their blood levels had healed over time after being critically wounded earlier.

Therefore, the three Beastman Soldiers behind him were in full health.

Rosen brought them mainly to deal with emergencies, using the soldiers as a shield for a quick escape if necessary.

About one kilometer from the main city, Rosen discovered a group of Dog-headed Demons enjoying a feast in a bush.

In total, there were twenty, gathered around a large iron pot, boiling a green, bubbling stew.

Among the twenty Dog-headed Demons, there were ten Dog-headed Demon Soldiers, five Dog-headed Demon Wizards, and five Dog-headed Demon Spearmen.

The Dog-headed Demon is the most common demon race on the plains, and their power is relatively weak.

But the combination of Dog-headed Demon Wizards and Spearmen, with Soldiers defending the front, Spearmen attacking from the rear, and Wizards healing the Soldiers.

This coordination can take down even a thirty-person army.

Faced with this Dog-headed Demon lineup, Rosen's three Beastman Soldiers were basically sent to their deaths.

Luckily, Rosen was riding a fast leopard, and the Beastman Soldiers were still hundreds of meters away, providing an opportunity to test the newly activated abilities.

On Rosen's blood-colored armor, a berserk red aura was released, making him feel about twice as strong.

This ability does not consume anything when used, and can be used at any time without needing to switch off.

In berserk mode, the speed of the Beastman Cavalry was astonishing, appearing before the Dog-headed Demon Wizard almost instantly, raising his warblade and slashing down.

The Dog-headed Demon Wizard's head went flying, its body spurting blood as it heavily hit the ground.

The other Dog-headed Demon Wizards, witnessing this, cried out in terror for help.

Even with a dozen weapon-wielding companions present, they were deeply afraid of a Beastman Cavalry capable of decapitating one of their kind in a single strike.

Ten Dog-headed Demon Soldiers surrounded the Beastman Cavalry, while the five Dog-headed Demon Spearmen in the distance threw their spears.

Rosen's health was enough to withstand the simultaneous attack of the Dog-headed Demons, but not for long.

A golden light burst from his body, entering a five-second invincible state.

The Dog-headed Demon Soldiers' attacks and the spears that landed on him had no effect.

With a strike of the warblade, a Dog-headed Demon Soldier's head went flying.

Another flash of the cold blade, two heads flew, one of which was a poor Dog-headed Demon Wizard's.

The remaining three lost their will to fight, fleeing in panic.

The Beastman Cavalry's invincibility expired, quickly evading a spear while chasing down the Dog-headed Demon Wizards.

Swish, swish, swish!

With three consecutive strikes, the fleeing three Wizards were slain.

By this time, Rosen's three Beastman Soldiers had arrived, joining the battle without hesitation.

In just one minute, with the cover of the Beastman Soldiers, Rosen easily exterminated the group of Dog-headed Demons.

But Rosen's health had also dropped by a third.

This was even while using the berserk state, and still lost a third.

If it were an ordinary A-level hero, they wouldn't have escaped unharmed, likely perishing instead.

Rosen's health recovery in berserk state was rapid, and within two minutes his health was full again.

Looking at his nearby Beastman Soldiers, only one with critical health survived.

"If the surrounding Dog-headed Demons simultaneously attacked the main city, the city would be destroyed in minutes!"

Thinking of this situation, Rosen felt that the novice protection period wasn't so safe.

He hurriedly cleaned up the battlefield.

These twenty Dog-headed Demons brought him a decent harvest.

30 Gold Coins, 20 Lord Coins, and an [Excellent Steel Pickaxe] were dropped.

It could be equipped on Beastman Laborers to increase gold mining efficiency by 50%.

The loot from defeating the monsters didn't make the soldier feel too happy; he worried about the main city's weak defenses. If a large number of demons attacked, it would be a disaster.

The Beastman Cavalry kited the Dog-headed Demons, returning to the main city ahead of the Beastman Soldiers.

He checked the building list. Buildings required wood, and there was only one laborer initially gathering wood, making the wood collection speed very slow.

Rosen equipped the [Excellent Steel Pickaxe] on the laborer gathering gold, and then summoned six laborers at the main city to gather wood.

Summoning countdown: 30s.

One every thirty seconds, and three minutes later, the six laborers teamed up to start logging.

The logging speed can be accelerated by a logging camp. After consuming 150 Gold Coins and 200 wood, a much smaller logging camp appeared near the main city after a one-minute countdown.

Rosen wanted to summon more soldiers but discovered that the 20 food units provided by the main city were insufficient to maintain the population consumption.

But he still summoned two more Beastman Soldiers, depleting his gold reserves.

It was at this point that Rosen thought of something and looked to the distance, noticing that the critically wounded Beastman Soldier had vanished.

This indicated that it had encountered danger along the way and been killed!
