Chapter 49 - CHAPTER 49

c49: Li Xu's Wedding

Inside Capsule Corporation's state-of-the-art gravity training room, Li Xu was currently experimenting with the Multiform Technique the Four Bodies Fist once used by Tien Shinhan in the 22nd Tenkaichi Budokai. Four identical versions of himself battled each other in pairs, quickly devolving into a chaotic free-for-all.

In just a few minutes, three of the clones vanished into puffs of light, and the original Li Xu reabsorbed their memories and energy.

"Simplistic thinking again," he muttered with a disappointed sigh. His idea of using the Four Bodies Fist to multiply training efficiency had failed.

He'd calculated that if four copies of himself each had 1.5 million in combat power and trained separately for a day, each might gain 1,000 points totaling 4,000 when recombined. But a singular version of himself with 6 million in combat power could increase by 10,000 in the same period due to exponential training efficiency at higher levels.

The principle was similar to how Goku's training in heavier gravity during his trip to Namek resulted in steeper gains. The stronger you are, the more your body can handle and adapt to harsh conditions Li Xu had simply underestimated the diminishing returns of splitting his strength.

"No shortcuts. Just train the old-fashioned way," Li Xu told himself, brushing aside the clever tactic in favor of pure intensity.

...

Time flew, and soon the long-awaited day of Li Xu and Bulma's wedding arrived.

They had been preparing for the event for over six months. The wedding became a worldwide sensation, broadcast live by Capsule Corp's media subsidiary. As the heiress of the Brief family, Bulma's wedding was easily the grandest the world had seen since King Furry's coronation.

"Bulma, you look absolutely breathtaking today," Li Xu said, stunned as he gazed at her in her ivory wedding gown adorned with subtle Capsule Corp logos and golden embroidery.

Bulma blushed but smiled coyly. "Still can't stop staring?"

"If I could stare for a lifetime, it still wouldn't be enough," Li Xu replied, his voice soft but sincere.

The elaborate ceremony included a traditional Earth wedding, followed by a more Capsule-tech-inspired aerial procession using anti-gravity platforms. The guest list included major figures: Master Roshi, Kami, Mr. Popo, even King Furry sent his regards. As night fell, the celebrations transitioned into a sprawling feast in West City.

"Whoa, this food is amazing!" Goku exclaimed, shoveling plates of roast meat and dumplings into his mouth at lightning speed. His cheeks were stuffed like a chipmunk, while the servers scrambled to keep his plates full.

"Goku, slow down!" Chichi scolded, clearly embarrassed. "At least chew like a normal person when we're out in public!"

Goku frowned, confused. "But it's so much work to eat all properly like that…"

Krillin chuckled as he leaned in. "So, Goku, you and Chichi should be thinking about your own wedding next, right?"

This table had been reserved specially by Li Xu and Bulma only their close friends sat here. Knowing Goku's legendary appetite, Li Xu had ordered their table to be triple-stocked, complete with Namekian fruit juice and a roasted whole dinosaur.

"Yeah, we've already started planning," Goku replied, still chewing.

"But it won't be anything as fancy as this," Chichi added with a sigh. She'd secretly dreamed of a wedding like Bulma's but knew the logistics and Goku's lack of interest in such things made it unrealistic.

"Capsule Corp is the richest company on the planet," Yamcha said, sipping a drink. "It's no surprise Bulma's wedding is like a royal event."

Vegeta, seated silently nearby, only grunted in response. Though he said nothing, even he admitted privately that the affair had been impressively orchestrated.

"I envy you guys!" Krillin said with a bitter face, watching Son Goku preparing for his wedding while he, still single, couldn't even get a date. It reminded him of how lonely he'd felt during the 23rd Tenkaichi Budokai, when everyone else had someone cheering for them.

"How's everyone eating?" Li Xu and Bulma came over, dressed formally the bride stunning in a capsule-designed wedding dress woven with high-tech fibers, and Li Xu in an elegant white martial gi embroidered with Capsule Corp and Turtle School crests.

"Bulma, you're so beautiful today!" Master Roshi exclaimed, his eyes widening shamelessly behind his sunglasses.

Boom!

Before he could blink, Bulma smashed him on the head with a clean punch, leaving a huge bump. This wasn't the teenage Bulma from the early Red Ribbon days her recent gravity training had pushed her combat power to 4,000, making her a true martial threat.

"Ah—it hurts!" Master Roshi screamed, tumbling backward.

"You deserve it! Try creeping on me again and I'll tell Li Xu to deal with you!" Bulma said with a fire in her eyes that made even Roshi scramble to hide behind Oolong.

Everyone at the table burst into laughter.

"Bulma, can you help me make a spaceship to travel the universe?" Son Goku suddenly asked, pausing mid-bite as he devoured plate after plate of food, much to Chichi's dismay.

"You want to leave Earth again?" Bulma blinked, surprised. Ever since the battle against Vegeta and Nappa, Goku had stayed planet-bound to recover and train.

"Yeah. Earth's getting too easy. If I want to grow stronger—and maybe catch up to Li Xu I need tougher challenges. In space, I can fight stronger warriors." Goku's tone was calm but determined, much like when he trained with King Kai on the afterlife's Snake Way.

"Goku, what about me?" Chichi's voice cracked a little. She knew Goku's desire for strength, but she hated seeing him go.

"I'm not going now," Goku quickly reassured her. "It'll take time to prepare. I want to be here for Gohan's early training too."

"Leave the ship to me. I'll get it ready after Li Xu and I finish our honeymoon." Bulma tapped her Capsule Corp tablet, already thinking of engine schematics.

"Thanks, Bulma!" Goku grinned.

"I'm coming too!" Krillin suddenly said, fists clenched. The defeat by Nappa and the frustration of being left behind had ignited his drive.

"And me!" Tien Shinhan added firmly, his third eye narrowing with resolve.

"Brother Tian!" Chiaotzu shouted, grabbing his arm.

"Chiaotzu, this journey's too dangerous for now. Stay here and train. I'll be back." Tien Shinhan patted his small friend's head.

Everyone turned to Yamcha.

"I'll stay," Yamcha smiled with a hint of bitterness. "Even if I train like mad, I still can't match Li Xu or Goku. My place is here."

No one challenged his decision. He had made peace with it.

"I'm going too." The low, firm voice came from Piccolo. Everyone turned in surprise.

"I'll surpass Goku just watch me." His green fists clenched. Unlike most, Piccolo had never stopped training since the 23rd Budokai, even after uniting with Kami and helping fight against the Saiyans.

In the manga, he was always a warrior who pushed limits despite being from a race not known for explosive power growth like Saiyans. Were it not for biology, he might've rivaled even Vegeta.

"Alright, one year from now, we'll depart together!" Goku nodded.

"Li Xu, can you teach me that teleportation move the Instant Transmission?" Goku asked.

"Sure, but it's hard to learn. It requires sensing ki across space." Li Xu agreed.

A gentle glow lit his index and middle fingers, which he pressed against Goku's forehead. This was a technique he had learned on Planet Adella a refined form of spiritual communication, similar to King Kai's telepathy but more direct.

"It's amazing!" Goku said as streams of understanding flashed in his eyes. The basics of Instant Transmission, which Li Xu had mastered after years in the cosmos, were now in his memory.

Krillin and Tien Shinhan looked at him expectantly.

"Your combat power is too low. You'd waste time on Instant Transmission. Focus on your power levels first. Ask Goku later if you still want to try." Li Xu advised.

They nodded, understanding the truth behind his words.

After the banquet, filled with laughter, sparring challenges, and mountains of food especially Goku's triple servings the guests slowly departed under the setting sun.

That night, Li Xu and Bulma shared their first night as a married couple. Unlike the gentle moments they'd had before, this time there was passion and emotion Bulma poured all her strength into it, but in the end, Li Xu's power and stamina were overwhelming.

By the next morning, sunlight streamed through the curtains. They were still tangled under the sheets.

"Don't pretend to be asleep," Li Xu said with a chuckle, catching the twitch of Bulma's eyelids.

"Hmph!" Bulma turned away, cheeks red.

"Let's rest today," Li Xu said gently. "You wore me out yesterday."

"What bull!" Bulma groaned, her body sore. "You're the one who went Super Saiyan halfway through!"

Although they'd done everything before, yesterday had special meaning—it was their wedding night. The passion between them had exploded and lasted until long after midnight.
