"Guy!!!"
Tsunade roared in fury, her face contorted with grief and rage. Her foot slammed into the ground with a thunderous crack, eyes flashing with a savage light like a beast ready to tear its prey apart. Her gaze locked onto the remains—mangled flesh and shattered bones.
More precisely, onto the blood-soaked mess embedded with a pair of Sharingan.
The pattern of the Mangekyō spun wildly, its crimson glow laced with twisted, poisonous energy—so grotesquely mesmerizing it felt almost beautiful in its distortion.
The Sharingan, a kekkei genkai unique to the Uchiha clan... and yet, Sasuke's pair was nothing but a high-quality counterfeit. The demon had simply stuffed in two flashy—but ultimately worthless—dōjutsu.
[Jibaku] was good for tormenting ghosts, and [Enkō] was far too unpredictable. Out of a hundred uses, most of the curses it cast were harmless. The last time it managed to make Might Guy lose his sense of direction? That was only because the demon quietly rigged the effect behind the scenes.
At this point, Sasuke and the demon were practically one. He kept those eyes around like trophies, driven by an obsession with his clan that refused to die.
"Just die already!" Tsunade shouted, forming hand seals as she unleashed a Fire Release technique. With her immense chakra reserve, even a basic fire jutsu exploded into a raging inferno.
She was more proficient in medical ninjutsu and raw taijutsu, but that didn't mean she couldn't cast elemental techniques—she just didn't bother most of the time.
But considering Sasuke's ridiculous resistance to physical attacks, she had no choice but to go with fire. She refused to believe that even if she turned him to ash, the bastard could still crawl out of it!
Sasuke instinctively dodged the flames, and when he turned his gaze back toward her, his expression was twisted with open greed and venomous loathing.
"You're just an old hag past her prime, and yet your skin is still so smooth and tight... You ruined my body—so why don't you lend me yours to make up for it?"
"Go to hell, you bastard!" Tsunade spat, and the flames crashed into Sasuke, hissing like grilled meat. But the effect was brief. A thick mist quietly crept in, swallowing the fire and heat like a hungry beast.
"That attack? A far cry from what Might Guy could do," Sasuke sneered. A chilling pressure followed, making Tsunade feel like prey caught in the crosshairs of a natural predator. Icy dread crept up her spine, drenching her clothes in cold sweat.
"Tsunade, move!" Jiraiya shouted.
Without a second thought, she leapt backward.
A dense mist surged from the ground where she'd stood a heartbeat ago, leaving a deep, corroded pit in the earth.
Sweat beaded on her brow. Jiraiya let out a long, heavy sigh.
Konoha's Blue Beast was dead.
And even after being blown to pieces, Uchiha Sasuke still lived.
He mourned for Might Guy's death, but Sasuke's tenacity was another beast entirely. It made him feel hopeless.
He knew better than anyone the power of the Eight Gates. Back in the day, Guy's father single-handedly destroyed the Seven Ninja Swordsmen of Kirigakure. And now, the life-for-power trade that Might Guy made only managed to disfigure Sasuke.
Watching this unfold, Jiraiya's heart sank deeper and deeper. And when Sasuke muttered that twisted line about wanting Tsunade's skin, it felt like being dunked in a frozen abyss. The terror was suffocating.
"Orochimaru is still missing. Hyūga Neji hasn't shown up either. And though Konoha has numbers, the power gap is overwhelming. Most of them are just fodder. Our chances of victory... are slim to none."
Jiraiya's rusted old mind slowly turned, and the thought of retreat began to form.
Hiruzen Sarutobi was gone. So was Might Guy.
If this battle was already lost, then there was no sense in letting the rest of their forces die in vain.
"Tsunade, disengage. Withdraw, now!" Jiraiya's voice rang in her ears.
Tsunade bit her lip, unwilling to accept it—but deep down, she knew he was right.
The cost of this battle had already been too great—so great she didn't dare face it.
But Jiraiya didn't hesitate. He quickly formed hand seals and sent a group of shadow clones rushing toward Sasuke and Tsunade.
The writhing mist lashed out and struck the clones, reducing them to puffs of smoke. But that momentary interference gave Tsunade the chance to break away.
Splatters of torn flesh and sinew suddenly launched into the air, flying straight toward her. Alert, Tsunade cloaked herself in chakra, twisted her waist, and lashed out with a fierce roundhouse kick.
She knew it wouldn't do much—just knock the bits aside. But it gave her the moment she needed to escape. She leapt back, trying to put distance between them.
But one lump of flesh suddenly twisted and stretched—stringy, decayed tissue lashed out like a whip, winding tightly around her ankle.
A rip tore through her chakra shield, the one protecting her from the mist's corrosion. The cold, slimy sensation made her scalp tingle and her blood run cold.
"How the hell did I never realize the Uchiha were this disgusting?!"
Sasuke snorted, "Disgusting? That's rich. When Tobirama Senju was doing human experiments, when your brute strength crushed enemies to pulp, when the Sannin summoned giant beasts on the battlefield—how many people do you think got mashed into meat paste?
"And now you're squeamish? Please."
He grinned darkly. "You act all righteous, but you're no better than a whore who builds her own shrine and cries about virtue. Pathetic."
Tsunade's face twisted in fury. She had no energy for verbal sparring—she could feel it. The flesh had begun to sink under her skin, sending waves of pain like her flesh was being peeled away.
Sasuke wanted her skin.
Grinding her teeth, Tsunade made a snap decision. A chakra scalpel flared to life in her hand as she sliced the rotting meat off her ankle. Blood sprayed, but she didn't even blink before immediately switching to Medical Ninjutsu.
"You're not getting away. None of you are!" Sasuke cackled as he gave chase.
"Tsunade! Take everyone and go. I'll hold him off!" Jiraiya shouted without hesitation, bearing the weight of sacrifice without flinching.
Tsunade didn't waste time with pointless lines like "We'll leave together or not at all." She gave Jiraiya a long, heavy look—then began organizing the retreat without delay.
Jiraiya summoned more shadow clones, encircling Sasuke's twitching mass of flesh.
As Tsunade's figure disappeared into the distance, Jiraiya sighed in relief. His death didn't matter. So long as Tsunade was safe.
Now facing Sasuke alone, Jiraiya unleashed another barrage of Fire Release techniques. Orange-red flames clashed with the dark mist—but soon, the mist took control. His clothing hissed and melted like acid was poured over it, leaving him in rags.
"So, Tsunade's gone. Guess I'll make do with you for now."
Shunk!
The scattered chunks of Sasuke's body pulled themselves together into a vaguely humanoid shape. Most of the skin was gone. Internal organs were useless now.
Jiraiya had been looking for a chance to slip away, but Sasuke pressed in without pause.
Unsurprisingly, this game of predator and prey ended with Sasuke as the victor.
From the depths of the alley, a wail echoed faintly. Listening closely—it chilled the blood...
