Chapter 129 - Chapter 129; Look at me ....

Dr. Sophie nodded, placing her stethoscope around her neck and washing her hands at the sink before putting on her gloves. "I heard you were sweating in your sleep and feeling warmer than usual last night... Were you having any discomfort during the night? What did you do?"

Ruyi hesitated for a brief second, then shook her head lightly, "No… I was just sleeping the whole night. Maybe I moved way too much in bed, which is causing the discomfort."

Dr. Sophie gave her a searching look for a moment, as if sensing something unspoken, but she didn't push further. Can such a loving couple sleep an entire night without having the activity?

She began her examination efficiently, checking Ruyi's blood pressure, temperature, and lightly pressing along her lower back. She took her time to massage her back and abdomen with an ointment.

"Well, your vitals are stable, but your lower back discomfort is likely due to strain on the ligaments and heavy movements, which you don't have to worry about, it will go away..." she explained, looking over at Lu Zhi Hao who stood beside the bed, arms crossed and silent, "Her temperature is slightly elevated, so keep monitoring it today. If it rises further or she develops other symptoms, let me know immediately."

Zhi Hao gave a short nod understanding, "Is there anything she can take for the pain?"

"She can have warm compresses and enough rest. She should also avoid sudden movements and take it easy. I will leave some mild medication just in case the pain worsens, but she should rely on natural posture support as much as possible when doing the 'activity' and keep her hydrated all the time."

Dr. Sophie turned back to Ruyi, her voice gentle, "Try not to overwork yourself, take little walks from time to time. If the pain gets worse or if you feel any abdominal cramping, let me know immediately, understood?"

"Yes, Doctor. Thank you for coming over," Ruyi replied softly, eyes lowering to the blanket covering her legs. She was exhausted physically and mentally after last night's fight.

After Dr. Sophie left, the room fell silent again.

Zhi Hao remained standing near the bed for a few seconds before he moved closer and crouched down in front of her.

His large hands rested on her knees over the blanket, his thumbs rubbing small circles absentmindedly trying to alleviate her worries.

Soon the maids brought in warm compressors and began tending to her abdomen to relieve her pain.

Ruyi kept her head lowered, staring at her fingers clenched tightly in her lap.

Her shoulders trembled slightly as she breathed in and out, trying to calm the tightness rising in her chest. She didn't know why but she was suddenly feeling down.

"Ruyi…" he called softly, his voice lower than usual. He was nervous, too; his hands shook a little. "Talk to me. What's wrong? You can speak up if you are going through anything pressing."

The problem she could be worried about was totally eliminated last night, and the last thing he wants for her is to worry.

She shook her head, her hair falling over her face as tears pricked her eyes, "I… I'm just tired I guess."

"Look at me," he said firmly, his hand coming up to tuck her hair behind her ear.

Reluctantly, she lifted her gaze to meet his. Her eyes were glassy and red at the rims, "Zhi Hao… what if… what if I lose this baby?" The doctor had told them her pregnancy was delicate but last night, she couldn't leave everything for them to handle. And it could be because of straining and stress, her abdomen was reacting like this. What if the situation became serious?
