Chapter 6 - Battle against the rare Hunter

"I draw. I will start by summoning Big Eye and placing this card face down," he said

[RH] 4000 LP 3 cards in hand

[J] 4000 LP 5 cards in hand

"I draw; I will start by playing Vendread Nights." After being played, a ruined city appeared, with howls of the undead starting to be heard. "I will activate its effect by discarding one card." I can add any 'Vendread' monster to my hand. "I will add Revendread Slayer to my hand." Now, the monster I discarded activates, allowing me to add a 'Vendread' spell/trap to my hand. "I will add Revendread Origin to my hand."

As I made this play, I saw the rare hunter start to get nervous and constantly look at his face-down card. "I will then activate it and send Vendread Core, Vendread Houndhorde, and Vendread Striges to summon Revendread Slayer from the top of one of the nearby skyscrapers." Slayer jumps down, slowing his fall by dragging one of his arm blades along the side of the building before landing on the field. Because of me tributing monsters for a ritual summon, I can special summon the monster I discarded earlier, Scar of the Vendread. After saying this, a big blue hand burst from the ground, pulling itself out.

"Now I will activate Slayer's effect and banish your face-down card." Slayer jumped up and stabbed the face-down card, banishing it and revealing that it was A Hero Emerges. After this, I see that the Rare Hunter has a mix of anger and fear on his face. "Now to finish this, I will attack your Big Eye with Scar of the Vendread." Scar punched a hole into the other big eye, destroying it with a blast of air, hitting the rare hunter like a cannon, reducing his life points [RH] 2,900 LP

"Now, slayer, attack him directly!" After declaring the attack, Slayer launched himself at the rare hunter, striking him with a strong uppercut, sending him flying back [RH] 500 LP. "I will end my turn; make your last turn count," I said with a bit of annoyance at how pathetic this rare hunter is. After saying this, he looks at his deck before looking around to see if there is any way for him to escape. Realizing he has no way out thanks to the wolf making itself known, he shakily draws his card to start his next turn.

"I-I will set this monster face down, set one card, and end my turn." "How disappointing. How could you have hurt so many others with your lack of skill? I will make these changes quickly." "Draw, and I will activate the slayer's effect again, banishing your face down." Not wasting any time, Slayer jumps up and slams the face-down card, banishing it, showing it was a negated attack. "Now scar his face down." Scar ran forward and slammed both arms on the monster, revealing Dark Blade destroying it. "Now, slayer, finish this." Rushing at the rare hunter, Slayer roundhouse kicks him, sending him directly into a tree [RH] 0 LP

After his life points hit 0, the field returns to normal, revealing the forest again. Walking up to the rare hunter, "Any last words before you get what's coming to you?" "Please don't do this. I will never hurt anyone again. I will give up dueling forever. Please have mercy!" "Too awful, I don't believe you, and have mercy? Is that something your previous victims asked you for? Well, I'm all out of mercy." After saying this, I whistle for the wolf to finish the job. The wolf bolts over, bites the rare hunter in half, and then finishes the rest, leaving just the dual disk behind.

Picking up the dual disc, I pull out his deck and the cards from the graveyard slot. As I did, I could feel a powerful dark energy radiating from the middle of the deck. Looking through the deck, most of the monsters are just normal monsters with high defense, and the traps are basic control cards like Trap Hole. Finally, the spell cards are all cards to look at your opponents' hand cards, like Exchange and the inexperienced spy cards that are not used because while hand knowledge is useful, it's not that good to have a negative card advantage.

I finally get to the card with the dark aura. "Well, he really should not have had this card." In my hand is one of the cards from the GX manga, The Suppression Pluto. So far, everything has been consistent with the anime timeline, especially since Pegasus is still alive, despite having died in the manga timeline. Is this universe mixed with the manga timeline starting with GX? It is not the same because why would a rare

Hunter of all people has one of the planet cards? So many questions, I think to myself. "I will have to see if I can find another on Aster Phoenix when I get home. His father created the planet cards in the manga timeline and Destiny Hero Plasma in the anime timeline; therefore, if these elements are combined, he would have made both in this universe.

Looking through the second half of the deck, I find one of my favorite field spells from my last life, Lair of Darkness. The rest of the cards aren't worth mentioning. I put the cards away in my backpack and the rare hunter's dual disc. The pieces littered the path in various locations as I made my way out of the woods. I make my way out, remembering the lives taken by the Rare Hunter. After about 20 minutes, I arrived at the bus stop by the edge of the forest.

Waiting at the bus stop, I hear my communicator beep. Pulling it out of my pocket, I see it's a message from Mom asking me to pick up some ingredients for dinner. I respond, letting her know I will right after I finish. The bus pulls up, and I go sit in the back, looking out of the window. After a while, I get lost in thought, thinking about different cards I could absorb into the gloves.

Arriving at the bus stop five minutes from the grocery store, I get off and start to walk to the store. As I walked, I heard the whining of a dog down the alleyway. I stopped walking down to see what was wrong with it. I see a black dog with red skeletal markings. I have seen this monster before. After a second, I remembered what monster it was. It's Doomdog Octhros. I approach it slowly and calmly. I lean down to see what's wrong with it. Upon closer inspection, I notice a broken back leg and several cuts on its side caused by claws.

I pull out a Red Medicine spell card from my bag and absorb it into the gloves before I activate the rune. It starts to flow from the tip of the pointer finger like blood into the other's mouth. As the event happened, I noticed the cuts beginning to close and the back leg starting to repair itself, although it was not fully healed. "Octhros, do you have a card that is damaged somewhere "That might be why your leg won't heal all the way." I asked with a friendly tone to get it to trust me some more.

After about a minute, he looks up at me with a small look of trust before trying to walk, signaling me to follow. "Hold on, I can carry you so you don't hurt your leg some more." With a bit of concern, he stopped to let me pick him up. I took off my backpack, opened it slightly, placed him inside it, and then put it back on with his head resting on my shoulder. "Ok, switch shoulders when you need me to turn, ok?" I said, "Brok, bro, k." He said in response, "I will take that as an OK, haha." Walking down the alley following some of the energy he left behind, I feel him switch to my left shoulder. I take a left and go down another alley that is slightly smaller than the first.

As I walked down the alley, I sensed a presence watching me with a hint of hostility. I can feel the hostility grow stronger as I get to the end. I see a small, run-down shack. Getting closer, I see a monster jump out on top of it, landing right in front of me. After the dust cleared, I saw a dog-like creature with a pair of wings and sharp claws on all four feet. The creature has blood orange fur with blue fur around the urtan parts of its body, bright yellow eyes, and ears shaped like horns. It's the monster Cassimolar.

The effect is forceful in this area of dueling, but it is manageable for me. I can hear growling coming from over my shoulder. "So the dog is the one who hurt you?" "Bark, bark!" " I will take that as a yes." "Fange!" As I said that, Gleipnir flew off my arm and started to capture the beast. It keeps trying to dodge it but is starting to run out of room to dodge. Since the target was a bus, I fired off two bolts of lightning to damage it. The first shot missed, but the second landed on its left wing, making it useless, and after a minute, it was finally caught by Gleipnir, holding onto one end of the chain. I sent lightning down to it.

Finally, it lay limp on the ground, worn out and smoking from the lightning coursing through its body. Pulling on Gleipnir, Cassimolar burst into a cloud of black energy, leaving behind a copy of its card. I picked it up and put it in my backpack. Walking into the shack, I find a pile of trash bags stacked up in the right back corner, a pile of animal bones in the back left corner, and in the center is a pile of discarded cards with Doomdog Octhros right on top.

Walking up to the pile, I pick up his card and see that it was damaged with a tear right up to his back leg. "krymp og slib" (shrink and sharpen), then Gleipnir shrank down to as thin as a string, and the first link turned into a thin needle. Taking my time, I start to sew the card back together. After I finished, I started to transfer some of my BA to Gleipnir so I could transfer it to the car and repair it. As it was repaired, Gleipnir started to be pushed out of the card, similar to stitches, eventually fully repairing Octhros back to normal without any visible damage. "Alright, it looks like it's all better. Now let's see if your card still works." "Bark, bark," he said in response" Looking at the other card, most are beyond repair; the rest luckily don't have a spirit.

Activating the dual disc, I place Doomdog Octhros on it, summoning him into the world. "Looks like it works," I said with a bit of pride, putting his card in my pocket. Octhros remains but becomes more ethereal, like a ghost. As I walked back to the store with him running in front of me, I realized he was unrecognizable by others, meaning he had become a regular dual spirit.

Finishing up in the store and making my way home, I walk in. "Welcome home, dear. How was your day?" she said with a bit of motherly warmth in her voice. "It was eventful." How did your friend's visit go?" I asked. "It went pretty well. The plant fossil was the remains of a flower that became extinct about a thousand years ago."

She said with a bit of excitement, "But dear, I just got a call from work. I will be leading an expedition for Mister Pegasus in Rome for a few months. Sorry, I could not stay home for longer. I will be leaving tomorrow morning," she said with some sadness in her voice.

"That's fine, Mom; I know that you have to do your work. Just be safe and take some pictures for me," I said, trying to lighten the mood. "Thanks for always understanding, dear. It makes everything so much easier on your father and me," she said with a hint of relief and motherly love in her voice. "Don't worry. If anything happens, I can go to Gramps down the road or Mister Pegasus. So don't worry, ok?" I said, reassuring her some more.

After dinner, I went to my room, and Octhros decided that my bed was his. I decided to ignore that for now. I went to the computer and started to look into Aster Phoenix and his father. Initially, I discover that he has begun his career as a professional duelist and seems to possess The Grand Jupiter along with his Destiny Heroes. Looking further into his dad, I see that he was murdered a year after all the planet cards were stolen, except for The Grand Jupiter and Elemental HERO Terra Firma. One was given to his son, and the other went to Jaden Yuki after he won a small tournament with his Elemental HEROs. I guess I will see what the deck is in a few months during the practical exam. I persist in my quest, seeking additional proof of the other planet cards' usage in other tournaments for future reference.

Pulling out the Suppression Pluto from my backpack and having Gleipnir at the ready, "Tragoedia, I know you can see through cards. Want to make a deal?" I said with confidence. As I said this, Slayer decided to join me by standing next to me. After a minute, the lights in the room start to flicker as black smoke comes out of the card and makes a black cloud with red glowing eyes, and a deep growling noise is emitted from the fog. "So lowly human, you wish to make a deal with me?" "hehehe" "Don't fool yourself into thinking you are better than me. I know exactly who you are … You are just one of the two survivors of Kul Elna and fused your BA with your KA before being sealed," I said with a bit of authority in my voice to throw him off a bit.

"So you knew who I was. What do you want?" he said with a bit of displeasure. "I want to get rid of a future problem early, preferably without having to jump through a bunch of hoops "It would help you get what you want a lot faster," I said with sincerity. "So you want to get rid of a problem early. I take it. You mean me? And what do you mean, Help me?" he said with some confusion. "Yes, and this deal can get this over without having to duel you and help you get your body back," I continue, trying to gauge his gaze. "You're not the only problem that will arise in the next few years, but you're the only one who doesn't want to destroy the world." "Your goal isn't that difficult to accomplish either."

"So you are willing to help me get my body back because I'm the lesser of two evils to you?" he said with a hint of excitement. "A bit simple, but yes, I want to know why you want to be human again when you could just stay a powerful spirit. Plus, I would like your monster card because it has a powerful effect." Pausing for dramatic effect, "So, are you interested?' I said with a small smirk.

"What are the terms you have in mind?" He said with considerable interest. "First, neither one of us can harm the other. Second, no mind control or possession. Third, I will help you recreate your body in exchange for your card without you causing me any trouble." I said with a calm tone. "Hm, those are quite fair terms." In my opinion, he pauses to think for what feels like a second too long. Just as I'm about to rescind my offer, he utters the most pleasing words. "I accept, but how will we seal this deal?" After he fished, I held up Gleipnir. "We will both repeat the terms of the deal, and with Gleipnir's power to bind anything to hold us to it, neither of us will be able to break it." After reciting the terms, a pulse of magic sealed our pact.

I ask, "How will you rebuild your body from your heart, since you couldn't during your sealing?" "I would need to gather some more energy to refill and strengthen my BA and use a dark spell to split my body out of my KA, bringing myself back to life," he said with honesty. "So unlike Doctor Bane, who is inhabiting a homunculus, you would just get your original body back?" I asked, "Correct. A homunculus is not that stable for a soul to inhabit compared to your original body, but recreating one's body with magic is effortless if you know what you are doing," he said with a bit of pride.

"Weren't you an astronomer? How did you learn about magic?" I asked with some confusion. "Yes, I was, but the stars and space are very close to magic and life, so don't underestimate it," he said with some pride. " I guess you're right. There are plenty of monsters from space, like the Neo-Spacians. I continued, "I will let you go so you can continue getting the other planet cards to Duel Academy to make your body. Just keep me updated on your plan." "Very well, good night, partner. HAHAHA," he said, disappearing back into the card.

With a final laugh, he vanished back into the card, leaving me to prepare for what was coming next.
