Chapter 27 - Celebration Plans

He then began considering the remaining four elemental Affinities.

"Fire and Lightning are very active in nature and have high destructive potential which makes them hard to control for me if I didn't possess affinity for them. So these two are out." he reasoned.

This left two options. "Which lefts Earth and Water Nature." he concluded.

"And these two natures are easy to control as they are more fluid and have less immediately destructive applications."

He thought about their applications. Water Nature was highly versatile and adaptable.

It was capable of creating defensive barriers and generating powerful waves. It could also be used for stealth and manipulation in environments with existing water.

Earth Nature, conversely, involved manipulating the earth and stone for both offense and defense.

It created barriers, altered the terrain, or fashioned weapons, often emphasizing durability and control over brute force.

"Since I want to focus on Defensive Ninjutsu first, then I should start with Earth Nature Chakra Affinity." Kaiji decided.

He confirmed his decision. "Alright, then it's decided." His plan was set.

"For next few days, I will check how Genin corps department works and start focusing on learning Iryo Ninjutsu and Earth Nature Elemental Ninjutsu." he outlined.

With this decision made, he put the paper where he had written his plans before the Third Shinobi War started into the bag where he kept his clothes.

Then Kaiji went out of his house. The sun was still up high in the sky.

After all, in the morning they had been given headbands, officially becoming Genin.

Then remaining 44 Genins, including him, were chosen as members of the Genin Corps department.

Ryota had shown them the layout and told them basic details until noon and then let them go for the day. It was only 2 PM in the afternoon yet.

Kaiji then walked towards Hiroshi's house, which was located close to his within the apartment building.

Kaiji reached the door and opened it. Once he opened it, he found Hiroshi already sleeping. An afternoon nap.

Kaiji went towards the sleeping Hiroshi and lightly shook him to get him up.

Hiroshi slowly opened his eyes and looked at Kaiji. "Oh, Kaiji," he asked sleepily, "did you pack your things?"

Kaiji nodded. "What about you, Hiroshi?" he asked.

Hiroshi slowly got up, rubbing his eyes. He pointed towards a bag sitting in the corner.

"There it is," he said, "my packed things."

Kaiji looked at the small bag. It was similar to his own bag where he put his clothes.

It was also small, as both of them didn't have many things to pack aside from basic day-to-day stuff.

Kaiji looked at Hiroshi again. "Let's go out and have something for lunch." he suggested.

Hiroshi lightly washed his face with water from the earthen pot and started walking outside with Kaiji.

Once they were out of their building apartment, they strolled leisurely in Sunagakure's market street.

They walked along, Kaiji with his hands in his pockets and Hiroshi with his arms crossed.

While strolling, Hiroshi sighed and said, "Haa, I'm thinking what Ren would be doing with his newly formed Genin team, and who would be their Jonin sensei."

"Who knows?" Kaiji replied. "We can ask him once he is free."

Hiroshi nodded. He then asked about money. "Well," he inquired, "how much have you saved?"

Hiroshi was asking about the money Kaiji had saved from his last and final allowance from the village.

The three of them, Kaiji, Ren, and Hiroshi had decided the previous week to throw themselves a small celebration party when they became Genin.

They had planned to put aside some Ryo as savings for their small celebration party, which they were going to enjoy tonight.

They had decided to have Roasted Meat for dinner tonight.

Considering Sunagakure's desert setting and challenged economy, especially regarding resources like water and livestock, having a Barbeque was obviously not possible.

But thankfully, Sunagakure did have local meat species available. This meat was prepared in a way that didn't require much water, like grilling and roasting.

However, it was also expensive. So, the three of them had to pool their savings to afford a celebration party of Roasted Meat.

Even Sunagakure's most frequent shop, Tsumuji Snacks, which was one of the few places that had Ramen on its menu, was also a little more expensive than Ramen's usual price, though still manageable.

The three of them sometimes enjoy Ramen during Lunch, but not everyday.

And that Ramen was prepared in a more minimalist style, with less broth.

Kaiji replied about his savings. "Yeah, I have saved enough, don't worry." he said.

He added with a slight grin, "And Ren is the one who got to be the part of the team, so he will pay more than us."

Hiroshi excitingly nodded, "Yeah!" he agreed.

"Ren has to pay more Ryos for our tonight celebration party!"

Then they went towards a stall and had Onigiri, taking a few quiet munches, while chatting among themselves, their voices a low chatter.
