"I heard there was a chain car accident on the highway, and all the people were sent to your hospital. Have you been so busy you forgot to eat?" Li Manman's pleasant voice came through the phone.
After she mentioned it, Han Xi realized she hadn't had a sip of water since morning, and instantly felt her stomach sticking to her back, with her belly growling in cooperation.
"Not yet, I'll go to the cafeteria to eat soon."
"I'm already at the hospital and brought you some braised pork. Hurry up and find a boyfriend, won't you? Aren't you embarrassed I keep worrying about you? Seriously, being your friend is such a hassle; you're lucky to have me."
Han Xi was speechless, paused for a few seconds before speaking: "I'll go check on the patients first; you can just come to my office."
After hanging up, Han Xi went straight to the ward. She was worried about that young girl and had to personally check her condition.
Chen Zheng happened to be in the ward; the man from the surgery had woken up, and Chen Zheng was doing a check-up.
Han Xi naturally tucked her hands into the pockets of her white coat, stopping beside the hospital bed. The young girl had not yet woken up, but her family was already by her side.
"You must be Doctor Han who saved my daughter, thank you so much." The young girl's mother stood up from her chair, face full of tears, her heart constricted at the thought of something happening to her daughter when she received the call.
Han Xi's pale face showed a faint smile, perhaps due to just waking up, her voice was a bit hoarse: "It's what I should do. If she wakes up, let me know immediately; I need to do further check-ups."
"Okay, Doctor Han." The young girl's mother wiped the tears from her face.
"Doctor Chen, is this the Doctor Han who saved my grandson?"
An elderly man stood up from the sofa, his voice deep and powerful. He glanced at Chen Zheng, then his gaze settled on Han Xi.
Chen Zheng closed the medical records in his hand, looked up, his gaze touching Han Xi's bloodless little face, brows slightly furrowed: "Yes, Doctor Han has Rh-negative blood. If it weren't for her, Mr. Lu would've..." He didn't finish his sentence, just smiled lightly.
The old man studied Han Xi, took a few steps forward, and gratefully spoke, "Doctor Han, I can't thank you enough for saving my life. If you don't mind, I'd like my grandson to offer himself in marriage."
"Pfft!" Nearby, Fu Bin spit out the water he had just drank, looking very amused at Lu Jinghan whose expression instantly stiffened.
Han Xi too felt like she'd been struck by lightning.
She had just happened to give a blood transfusion to the patient; there's no need for a proposal, right?
Before Han Xi could speak, Li Manman walked in from the door with a lunch box and spoke up first: "Old man, your proposal sounds good to me. Our Han Xi is such a beauty, with a great figure and temperament, and a graduate of Stanford University. She's now a very popular doctor in the hospital, and most importantly, she's currently single."
After saying this, Li Manman glanced subtly at the man lying on the hospital bed. Despite looking very weak, his demeanor wasn't affected at all; he was extremely handsome.
These two are quite a match, Li Manman concluded to herself.
"This young lady is?" Lu Jinghan's grandpa smiled kindly, feeling delighted upon hearing Han Xi was single.
