"Is that you?" Sophie was genuinely surprised. Why was he calling her?
"What do you want from me?" She intentionally pretended to be busy, walking out of the dormitory to avoid arousing the suspicions of the others.
Honestly, is this woman missing a few screws? Any woman, upon hearing Asher Land's call, would be eager to rush to him. Why is she so oblivious, asking all these questions? Oh right, this little wildcat is different; she has her heart set on opposing him!
"I'm calling you to come; that's all you need to know."
"But you'll have to give me a reason." She wasn't foolish enough to approach this dangerous and hateful man again.
"..."
Asher Land felt his patience being worn thin by this woman, yet she continued to persistently ask why.
"I want to discuss the matter of the lead actress role in City of Desire with you," he said, uncharacteristically patient.
Sophie was momentarily stunned as if her brain had short-circuited, then she snapped back to reality. So, did Asher Land mean she had a chance to be the lead actress in City of Desire? The thought made Sophie ecstatic.
She would rather choose to trust him once more. How wonderful it would be if she could get the lead role in City of Desire. Perhaps then she wouldn't have to worry about the tuition fees.
Although she had some doubts about Asher Land, after some careful thought, there were many interviewers present today. It's possible that they genuinely recognized her acting skills!
"Okay, I'll come over now." Even though this matter felt a bit unreal, sometimes fate smiles upon the unfortunate, so why doubt? Luck was about to descend upon her, and her hard work was to be rewarded.
Asher Land hung up the phone, a slight sneer forming at the corner of his lips. Ha, aren't all women the same? For fame and fortune, what wouldn't they do? He had thought she might be different in some way?
Sophie returned to the dormitory, changed into a simple printed long dress, applied light makeup, and prepared to go out.
"Sophie, where are you going so late?" Eva Miller called out to her and asked.
"Oh, um,..." Sophie's mind was racing, trying to come up with a suitable excuse, "Edward said he's treating me to a late-night snack."
"I see, well then, you go ahead."
Sophie replied and hurriedly walked out.
She took a cab to the entrance of the Imperial Court Hotel, looking up at the towering building with a heart full of anxiety.
She pressed the elevator button to the fifteenth floor.
The corridor on the fifteenth floor was silent. She carefully searched for room number 1502.
"This is it." She stood at the doorway, hesitating for a long time, adjusting her breathing.
Reality is ultimately cruel. She had originally wanted to proudly stay away from him, but for life, for benefits, she chose to approach him once more.
"Sophie, you really are despicable."
She was always conflicted like this. She worked hard to calm her emotions and only after a long while did she press the doorbell.
The door opened, and Asher Land seemed to have just finished bathing. His hair was still not completely dry, and he wore only a towel around his lower body, exposing his robust, bronzed chest.
Sophie was completely unprepared for such a scene, and she quickly turned her back to him in fright.
"If you're still busy, continue with what you're doing. I'll wait for you by the door." She stood outside, avoiding him like the plague.
"Come in."
"But..."
"I said come in," Asher Land said impatiently.
There was no choice; Sophie had to brace herself and walk in.
