Chapter 139 Welcome to Wakanda
As Upgrade finished speaking, a potted plant in the corner suddenly began to stir. Its originally gray branches turned green, and it pulled itself out of the soil. At first glance, it even resembled human limbs. The fiery red flowers clustered together, and surprisingly, eyes and a mouth grew on them.
In the blink of an eye, the originally inconspicuous potted plant had transformed into a two-meter-tall plant-man.
"I certainly don't remember buying a plant like that," Tony said seriously.
"Of course, because I'm here uninvited." Swampfire brushed off the soil from his body and then walked up to Prince T'Challa.
The Royal Guard behind Prince T'Challa tightened their grip on their vibranium spears, warily watching the unknown creature before them. As Wakanda's protectors, ensuring the safety of the royal family was their duty, but they wouldn't overreact and stop everyone. They still maintained the composure befitting a great nation.
"Greetings, esteemed Prince T'Challa," Swampfire said, extending his right hand.
"Hello, uh, Swampfire?" Prince T'Challa said tentatively, grasping Swampfire's hand. After all, he had only heard Upgrade call out the name, and wasn't sure if he had heard correctly.
"That's right." Swampfire nodded.
"Please agree to our request. After all, we are far from home, and having two people together can provide mutual support."
"I don't seem to have a reason to refuse," Prince T'Challa said with a smile.
"Your Highness," Okoye reminded him again.
"No need to worry, Okoye." Prince T'Challa gestured to stop Okoye from continuing.
"I will speak to the King."
Seeing this, Okoye stopped talking. Although repeated interruptions might be annoying, it was her duty as Captain of the Dora Milaje.
"Thank you," Swampfire said gratefully, then looked at Okoye and said to her, "You are a good Subject. From you, I can tell that Wakanda must be a wonderful Nation."
"The most wonderful Nation," Prince T'Challa corrected, clearly pleased with Swampfire's words. This stemmed from his patriotism.
Wakanda, a contradictory nation where the ancient and the advanced coexist, its citizens all possess rich patriotism. Often, praising Wakanda is more effective than praising Wakandans. This was also one of Yang Le's strategies; solving problems with words was always the best approach.
Okoye's expression remained unchanged, but she urged, "Time is running out, Your Highness. We should return."
Clearly, Swampfire's verbal offensive had worked.
"You're right." Prince T'Challa nodded and looked at everyone. "Then let's set off."
The group boarded Wakanda's flying vehicle in an orderly manner. As soon as they were on board, Wakanda's advanced technology gave everyone a lesson. Even Tony Stark had to admit its uniqueness.
Generally, when people are on a moving vehicle, they can't help but chat. As expected, once everyone relaxed, they started talking, and the most talked-about topic was naturally the recent event.
"Speaking of Sokovia, what exactly happened there?" Bruce Banner asked, looking at Upgrade, who was slumped to one side.
"What do you mean, what happened?" Upgrade asked back, feigning puzzlement.
"What else could it be? It's about the Four Arms and Diamondhead switching places."
Banner's words caught the attention of the Avengers. Although no one interjected, it was clear from their gazes that they were all filled with curiosity about this matter.
"That matter, huh?" Upgrade pretended to suddenly understand, but in his heart, he thought, 'As expected, it's coming.' But no rush, he had already thought of a countermeasure.
"Alien technology, kid." Upgrade tapped the Omnitrix on his chest.
"The Plumbers' symbol can locate our coordinates. Through it, we can complete space swapping."
"Space swapping?" Banner looked at the Omnitrix in surprise. Thor was right?
"I didn't expect this little thing to be so powerful," Nick Fury exclaimed, no wonder it was top secret.
"Don't be impressed yet, its restrictions are actually quite significant," Upgrade said.
"First of all, it has a distance restriction. Also, to complete space transformation, we need the other party's consent, otherwise, it won't work. There are other miscellaneous restrictions, but these two are the most important."
The settings Upgrade described seemed ill-conceived, something to add to later if needed. However, because of the strength the Plumbers had previously demonstrated, everyone still believed him.
"Regardless of the restrictions, this technology is truly remarkable." Prince T'Challa walked over.
"If possible, Wakanda would like to acquire this technology. I wonder what your thoughts are?"
"I'm very sorry, Prince T'Challa, but any technology from the Plumbers requires authorization from the Sheriff Chief before it can be shared with others," Upgrade politely declined.
There was no other way; after all, this was just a temporary fabrication. Although Yang Le had created a wristband for Gwen in Universe 65 that could teleport to the base, Yang Le hadn't focused on this technology since then.
Instead, he had run off to research the Time-Space Wheel, and now all his energy was focused on upgrading the Omnitrix. This technology had been stagnant for a long time.
"That's truly a pity." Prince T'Challa didn't press further. In fact, what he said just now, ostensibly about wanting the technology, was actually just to establish a connection with the Plumbers.
However, Upgrade directly rejected him, not knowing if he didn't see through his intentions or simply couldn't make decisions about this matter.
But Prince T'Challa wasn't discouraged. Anyway, there was plenty of time. Although he didn't know the reason why this group came to Earth, as long as they were still on Earth, they would inevitably come into contact with Wakanda. After all, Wakanda was the most advanced nation on Earth.
"We're almost there, Your Highness," Okoye, who was in the driver's seat, reminded him.
"What? Isn't there still a woods in front of us?" Banner asked in confusion.
"You'll know soon." Prince T'Challa turned and walked behind Okoye, turning around so his back was to the windshield.
Ahead was a continuous mountain range, covered in lush woods, and the flying vehicle was heading straight for the mountain.
Surprisingly, the scene of a crash and destruction did not occur. The flying vehicle actually passed through the mountain.
"Welcome everyone to Wakanda!"
Prince T'Challa spread his hands, displaying his nation to everyone with pride.
"This is truly astonishing," Tony pushed up his sunglasses.
"There's actually a place like this in the world."
The flying vehicle glided over a vast grassland. Many animals were running on the ground, and occasionally, people in special attire could be seen.
Before long, the flying vehicle brought everyone to a city filled with high-rise buildings. Even New York, an international metropolis, paled in comparison to this city.
Swampfire exclaimed, "Nature and humanity coexist. What a beautiful city."
