Nux paused, his tone pensive.
[You bet your ass you take this quest. High chances of death means no freak wants to capture you alive, none, period. True you are ill equipped, true you might die, true the things you find inside might not be valuable or useful right of the bat and also true that there are more things you can carry but look at the bright side! You might find some skills that you can learn! And let us not forget about experience! Both literally and figuratively! You also have a best weapon you can get as cherry on top!]
Arthur listened while his eye twitched. He clearly mentioned, or begged to not answer like this but Nux didn't care. Regardless, he was half convinced to take up the job. With that in mind he check his inventory and decided to open his last mystery box, Pack of potion.
[Affirmative. Opening Pack of Potion(Minor)...
1. Healing Potion X 1
2. Mana Potion X 1
3. Detoxification Potion X 1
4. Stealth Potion X 1
5. Night Vision Potion X 1
All the items are stored in the inventory.]
'I thought it will only give 3 or something.' Arthur grinned, and the best part? All of them are in inventory. Finding happiness in small things like these.
[Yeah no kidding. Stealth and night vision potions are not given in the minor pack, it is as if someone is looking out for you.] Nux grinned, totally waiting for the show to start.
[But do not get your hopes up, people or things with superior perception can still find your general direction. Also, both have time limits.] Nux's grin widened.
'...You just can't help it, can you?' Arthur still was not sure about this. Usually, people will accept out of greed but him? Not sure.
[Relax. Let me give you some inside information. Food cooked by a Cook can heal wounds. Even fatal wounds if quality is peak. 'Peak' is the key word here. And last but not least, sneak attack deals double the damage.] Nux dropped another bomb out of no where. Things like this are game changer.
Arthur couldn't help but give his 'charming smirk' , if that smirk can challenge the people who baked cake made of feces and cooked at the center of the sun for a friend! Get the point? No? Well, flops.
[Hold you horses. That kind of food only exist in Rank-10 recipes, even if you find one, it's not like you can cook one. As for sneak attack...I was just bluffing.] Nux laughed awkwardly. It looked like his joke failed.
[ But hey! Sneak attack is still fatal you know! One clean hit is all it takes!] Nux added in a tone that sounded less like an excuse and more like damage control.
Ignoring and accepting Nux's bombs, Arthur accepted the quest. Soon after he felt as if he got gut-punched and forced to stand still while his body turned into sand, clearly the symptoms of teleportation.
When he opened his eyes, the first thing he noticed that the room was dark, too dark to even see the floor he was lying on. There was nothing, not even a sound of someone walking.
After a while he stood up steadily, cautiously, sure to minimize his sound and moved to feel the metal railing, to have something to cover his back.
'It is too dark. What, wanting to make me use my potion right off the bat? Too bad I already made a torch.' Arthur smirked, waiting for a response from his system. But there was nothing, no snarky comment, no argument, nothing.
'Nux? You there?' Still no response.
'System? Status?' Arthur felt wary for the sudden silent treatment. he wanted response, anything would do. Luckily he got one when he summoned his status. But nothing from Nux. Either something happened or will happen, or he's just enjoying the show he was putting. Yeah, probably the later.
Just as he was musing with his thoughts, his hand touched something and his expression turned solemn, what he found wasn't railing or anything of sort, it felt more like stone, stone box or something similar. Since he was in the cemetery it would probably be a stone coffin.
He turned to other direction and soon found what he was looking for, a stone wall. His expression became neutral in a flash, he was having a weird feeling about this.
Without wasting any more time, he lit the torch and his expression froze in an instant. It wasn't what he was expecting.
There was no railing, no walkways, no trees, no lines of graves. What he found was, or found himself in was a grey stone room around 15 meter long, with high ceiling and a stone coffin at the center.
There were moss running over the stones and rats scurrying around. But what the scaring part was, there were no rats, only their shadows.
