Chapter 64 - A Moment to Rest

With the investigation officially ending, Alaric's workload decreases significantly. Lenore notices it without him telling her, and she's glad that he finally gets to take a break from the matters that demanded his constant attention. Now, he spends more time making decisions that impact the townhouse and life in Barrowmere. He comes to meals on time, even if that just means eating with Lenore in the bedroom for now as the meals are brought to her. She notices how he has more of an appetite and how his shoulders aren't as tense. They aren't necessarily relaxed either, but he doesn't look as hunched over all the time. If only he could get enough restful sleep to help the dark circles under his eyes, but Lenore believes there's more behind their existence than a simple lack of sleep.
