-dxd-

You ever see a titan get chained? With human handcuffs?

It's a really funny thing.

Because no matter how thick the chains are, no matter how many seals are drawn and reinforced by ten generations of warlocks, a part of you, deep down, thinks: 'That guy's just fuckin' around, isn't he?'

That's what it felt like watching Zekram Bael, the man so ancient his name might as well be etched into the bones of the Underworld, being placed under house arrest.

---Yes, house arrest.

Hey, stop laughing, I'm serious.

No, don't laugh even harder!

Imagine slapping a pair of handcuffs on S*perman and telling him he's grounded. That's what it looked like. A token punishment, sure, but a punishment nonetheless.

The old puppetmaster who pulled the strings behind decades of pureblood supremacy finally felt the sting.

But he couldn't be completely dethroned, not truly, is what I realized, but we made damn sure the old dog had to put on a muzzle.

Similarly to canon, multiple volumes and seasons ahead, The Great King Faction, once the aristocratic spine of the Old Satan Faction's remnants, who weren't terrorists, were brought into the light.

And boy, did the shadows scream.

The moment I helped Cleria survive that night, she'd gathered enough data and evidence to drag out those secret skeletons they'd tried to bury with her, and blew the lid off the King Piece conspiracy involving their attempts to hoard and manipulate the Rating Game's integrity was laid bare.

To be honest, since the damage was infinitesimally smaller than what happened in canon with other factions getting involved, the fallout was significantly less due to the tragedy being averted, and fewer deaths clouding the horizon.

The Underworld, the Church, and even Grigori had no choice but to react. A grand judicial committee was formed with all three factions involved, and Ajuka Beelzebub personally stepped in, probably to make sure his beloved Rating Game wasn't reduced to an elaborate joke.

And when the proof hit the tribunals?

---Boom.

It was like tossing a Holy Sword into a powder keg of demonic pride.

Those who took the most heat were the Devil Nobility. Names of the current generation that were once whispered with reverence and respect were now spat with venom.

The Devil Council moved fast, unusually fast. Decisive. Plenty of guys in cahoots with the whole ordeal lost status, got imprisoned, and in some cases, even their clan names.

Yeah, they got booted from their clan, which didn't want to risk going against the Four Maou, especially since Zekram Bael himself was forced to step back.

Those who had abused the King Piece for unfair advantages in the Rating Games were made examples of.

There were plenty of folks who got the boot for what they did, but let's be honest, since most of the weren't hot chicks with nice legs and tits, most people didn't give a hoot about them.

Let's talk about the important characters, like Roygun Belphegor, one of the charismatic darlings of the Rating Games after Diehauser Bellial, known for her unshakable confidence and sly charm?

---Spoiler Alert, she got the axe.

Her entire record was wiped out. Null. Gone. Like she'd never even fought in the arena.

Once admired, now disgraced. She was expelled from the Belphegor Clan and the professional league with less dignity than a drunk ejected from a noble banquet.

Funnily enough, she was strong enough to get to that level on her own power, that being the Belphegor Clan trait, [Crack], a unique power that allows her to create a tear in anything within her range, though it falters when used on those who massively overpower her.

Hmnn...

When I think about it, in the future canon, she trains to the level that even she can stack and accumulate 'tears' when attacking, to the point that even [Sephiroth Graal], and [Twilight Healing] take hours to heal just one of her attacks....

---Poor Lint Sellzen, she had to find this out the hard way....

But the fun of fighting really got to her head and muddled it up.

Then again, it's almost the same for Bedeze Abbadon, who also got exiled, but since he's an arrogant young master type of guy who looks down on regular Devils and Reincarnated Devils, plus believes that The Rating Games are only for the Devil Nobility...

...There were fewer folks who were forgiving of his faults, and were actually happy that he got the boot.

But my only issue is that... he vanished! Just like that, he went up and poof!

Gone.

I was hoping that he'd attack the Bael Clan, get his ass whopped and be imprisoned, so I could get his DNA to acquire [Hole], his signature Devil trait.

Instead, he tried to take his issue to the Kingpin Zekram Bael and got owned, so now he's gone into hiding.

[Hole] was the unique power of the Abaddon Clan, which could make multiple portals able to absorb and reflect attacks, and even teleport oneself as well.

With the King Piece, he could contend against Sairaorg and Saji in Balance Breaker mode, but now, it seemed unlikely.

Don't worry, I'll find him. I have to.

...But as for Roygun, I'll talk more about her later.

Let's circle back.

Cleria Belial, the spark that lit this revolution.

Her position as Overseer of Kuoh Town was revoked almost immediately, and she was recalled to the Belial main estate until further notice.

Hold on a sec--- isn't that technically house arrest?

Sorta? But on the other hand, it was also like witness protection, since there might be some Devils with ruffled leathery feathers who don't like the fact that she made them get exiled from their clan.

But the twist?

Masaomi Yaegaki, the exorcist with unshakable principles... Chose to reincarnate as a Devil.

Yeah, seriously.

Not just any Devil, either. A Knight in Cleria's peerage.

If you'd told me a year ago that Masaomi, the guy who lived a human and died a human, would volunteer for Devilhood, I'd have said something about a Dxd AU not following the canon.

But betrayal runs deep.

The Church branded him a traitor, and his closest allies personally tried and almost succeeded at killing him.

Let's just say that his faith didn't just crack--- It shattered.

He may not say it aloud, but I know that wound runs deeper than most realize.

So, what happened to me? What happened to Daichi? What happened to the people orbiting me?

Well then…

Lemme tell ya.

Drumroll, please?

-brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr-

Not much, really.

I've just been keeping up, keeping up, y'know?

Subsuming traits via [Body Manipulation] only works if my body can handle all of that powah; otherwise, I'd inflate like a balloon of supernatural power and explode in a rain of guts and blood.

So I'm hitting the metaphorical gym like crazy.

I'm refining my muscles, with my manipulated body that can grow stronger despite my kid physique, going over grimoires, experimenting with new spells, and testing the limits of funny little power, the [Ero-Crest].

It's weird, I tell ya.

It kinda feels like the sort of power that should be a [Sacred Gear], but it's not. It's just a power that I entered into this world with.

Kinda reminds me of this novel where a guy gets reincarnated into a Dark Fantasy world with this exact powerset...

But seriously, isn't this (basically) an erotic game?

Besides, my days are often filled with trial and error. I've been training my [Hypnosis], learning to layer commands, bend behavior, and even rewrite minor memories.

I'm still testing [Time-Stop] in controlled environments; it's a powerful ability with a lot of potential. So is [Body Manipulation], which is slowly becoming like a second language to me--- altering my biology, my skin, even tweaking my bone structure.

And [Sensitivity Controller]?

Well, let's just say it has... applications. Useful ones. Strategic ones.

Only time might tell---

No. That sounds unsure. That sounds weak.

Time will tell. Because I'll make it.

Anyway.

I've been thinking about everyone. The people I've crossed paths with, the ones who shaped me.

There's Father Kondo. The old geezer of the cloth. He's healthier than ever, even though he's close to death. (He's middle-aged, get it?)

His body practically sparkles with gorilla strength. If I ever said that to his face, though? I'd get one of those signature anime-style nuggies--- a fist grinding into my scalp until a comedic bump formed.

Classic.

Then there's Sister Kyoko. Ever the gentle worrier. Still giving sermons, still praying for all of our souls at the orphanage.

She's kind of like a second mom. A mom who gives you spiritual guilt trips and bakes cookies.

Honestly, while I'm not the kind of guy who hates on religion and calls others who believe in deities fools, seeing her profound devotion did make me a little miffed.

I mean, unlike on regular Earth, where we live our whole lives with other humans, not knowing if a divine being truly exists, here it does, and it does in spades, mythologies even.

But the likelihood of a good person like her getting her prayers answered despite God having actually existed at some point in time?

Practically none.

Sorry, Sister, Big Bible G actually existed, he's literally dead, and you're too late to ever talk to him.

Gotta sting for believers.

Plus, Irina Shidou, the energetic tomboy of the past. I got a letter from her in Italy, asking me to make sure that Issei doesn't forget about her, so I got to cracking with [Hypnosis].

Hey, she asked for it. Besides, it's actually an ethical way for me to have a harem with fanfic nonsense of killing Issei or cucking him, so why not?

Although I don't hate the guy, I've got no intention of liking him either. It's just that I won't antagonize him for no reason, is all.

I'm cheering on you two.

And as for Gabriel… well, she's beside me right now.

---Literally.

We're sitting on the couch in my renovated mansion--- matching cat pajamas, snack bowls between us, and Last Fantasy 7 on the screen.

"Shall I give you, this pear?"

Gabriel mimicked the man with long silver hair and an exaggerated long katana. "Ooo! I want a pear!"

"I don't think this weird guy has any pears on him, nya~" Kuroka tried to correct Gabriel to no avail. "I think he's just a meanie."

-dun, dun, dun, dun, dun, dun, dun-

"What's with this villainous music?" Kuroka muttered. "How can a villain's theme be so catchy...?"

"What do you think, Shirone?" Kuroka asked Shirone, who simply gave a vague reply.

Instead, she gave my sleeves a tug as I handed her some snacks for her to inhale indiscriminately.

"Hey, Daichi-kun?"

"Yeah, Gabby?"

"This 'Sephy' guy keeps talking about giving people pears," Gabriel mumbles, eyes narrowed. "But I haven't seen a single fruit yet. He's not very generous."

"That's because he doesn't want to give people pears, Gabby. He wants to ruin people's lives and make it a living hell, hence the term despair."

"Oh." Gabriel nodded. "That's not very nice of you at all, Mr. Sephy."

I peer at the screen just as she lands another critical hit. The boss then dissolves into pixels, defeated effortlessly.

Gabriel popped a chip into her mouth as she continued playing, as if what she just did wasn't out of the ordinary.

I sigh. What kind of luck does she have? I've never seen her lose at Sm*sh Siblings, T*kken, nor Alley Brawlers because of her infinite lucky hits.

I even saw her shred King of Battlers R*gal's HP to the point where the computer couldn't even read her inputs to cheat!

I think she's tapped into some divine cheat code.

"Where was I…?"

"You were still lost in thought, Daichi-kun." Akeno said as she snuggled up against me, also in matching pajamas.

"Nyehehe~ Daichi, what are you thinking in that noggin of yours?" Kuroka asked.

"Yeah..." Even Shirone looked up to ask me.

"Nothing much, just watching."

"Hmmn? Are you sleepy? I still haven't gotten to the point where I got a camel for my birthday." Rias said as she sat beside me.

"You've told that story dozens of times, Rias." Sona said as she pushed her glasses up the bridge of her nose.

"Well, maybe I just like telling Daichi stories." Rias pouted, but her cheeks pinked slightly. "Plus, Daichi's gonna join my peerage soon enough, so I have to make him familiar with my life!"

"As long as you don't scare yourself by spontaneously summoning camels into my living room again," I muttered. "And I'm not joining your peerage, Rias."

Sona gave me a sideways glance as she spoke. "Just make sure you don't start encouraging her to do nonsense. You're already considered an important variable by my older sister."

"That's on her if she does it again," I chuckled. "Besides, I'm pretty sure you also like the fun it brings."

"No, I don't. I prefer the calmness of sitting here instead." Is what Sona said, but the twitch of her lips told a different story.

'Ah, no wonder I was lost in thought.'

---Ah, yes. Others.

Sebas. My right-hand man. The butler of butlers who used to be a high-and-mighty Fallen Angel who tried to annihilate me. That didn't go his way. Instead, I used words, wit, and a touch of power to win him over.

Now? He serves me loyally. Calm. Efficient. Deadly.

Cleria and Masaomi. Their road is strange, but it's theirs.

Cleria and Masaomi are at home within the main Belial estate, however, their future is still unclear.

Shuri Himejima, on the other hand, has returned to tending her shrine. I got people to help rebuild it, and the Gremory Clan pressured the Himejima elders to finally back off.

With no immediate threats, she's at peace. As for Baraqiel... well, canon says one thing. Reality's unclear. He hasn't shown himself yet.

That being said, the Himejima's who ordered the attack will have their day soon enough. There are some good people in there, sure, like Suzuka Himejima and Tobio Ikuze.

But you gotta clean house sometimes.

As for Akeno? She's really blooming lately.

She's sweet now, but the way I see it--- she's gonna become a master-class tease.

A certified Queen of Teasing. I'm training my willpower in preparation.

I think I've gained a lot of rivals, as she reincarnated under Rias's Peerage as her Queen in search of greater power using the Devil's famed Power of Imagination.

So I usually end up seeing them frequently at my training ground, as Rias, Sona, and Akeno don't want to fall behind me.

Let's just say, that I've got the neccessary DNA to subsume the [Power of Destruction] trait now.

'Hell, I'm not complaining. If someone wants strength and their working for it, then that's on them.'

She doesn't despise her Fallen side as much as canon painted it, but the misunderstanding with Baraqiel hasn't cleared.

Especially since he hasn't shown his face since.

'C'mon, Baraqiel! You've fought in a Holy War against Devils, Angels, and Dragons, and you've seen Big G with your own eyes, but visiting your family to clear things up is too daunting for you!?'

-sigh-

It looks like this odd relationship will linger on for a bit...

Kuroka stayed and is now living with me. It's nice having a cute girl living with me, so there's no issues from me, but as for Shirone?

Well, she chose to reincarnate under Rias as well, becoming her Rook, and while the relationship between her and Kuroka still remains rather strange, it isn't at the full-blown hostility that it appeared to be in canon.

After all, she didn't have the trauma of being tried by the Devil Council and nearly executed as a little child, so it wasn't too bad for her.

I've seen how they interact, and it's sorta like... like siblings who haven't spoken in a long, long time, and are kinda awkward around each other.

And then… Rias and Sona. The Tomato Princess, and The Calculating Megane Princess. (seriously, those glasses shine everytime she pushes them up.)

Both princesses are blooming with potential, and both are constantly flustered by me.

Believe it or not, we've actually met up constantly after the whole King Piece debacle, and I've even been invited to sleepovers!

In a bid to get me to warm up to her and join her peerage, Rias has taken to trying to give me a tour of the Gremory Manor and The Underworld every chance she's got, much to the chagrin of Sirzechs, so I've seen a lot.

Hell, she even plans to introduce me to her cousin, Sairoarg, to show off how big of a family's she's got, saying that if I join her, I will also have a big family as well.

Come to think of it, Sairaorg's future Queen, Kuisha has the Abbadon Clan trait of [Hole] too, huh...

Seriously, I know the people, but even with the help of Rias, finding them is a hassle.

Looks like I just might have to tag along with Rias for a while...

Also, if it weren't for the fact that she was genuinely trying to befriend me not to mention getting me to join her peerage, I would've thought that she was flexing her family members to an orphan, which paints a rather... odd picture.

That said, as for sleepovers, Serafall hosts these for her precious little Sona every once in a while, and they dress up like Magical Girls and have fun.

Besides, why is Serafall here? What is this, and what is she into?

Though, I can tell that Serafall has her eyes on me, judging by the way I always end up being the Demon King when she does her little cosplay games.

The Evil Demon King who aims to sully the innocence of the pure Mahou Shoujo.

'Not subtle at all, Serafall,' I thought. 'Besides, even if I were, then you're more at risk than those little children.'

It was either that, or dressing up as a Mahou Shoujo myself, and while I had nothing against the Mil-tans of the world who did, I prefer to be the cunning Demon King instead.

But I gotta say, watching Serafall explain herself as I used [Sensitivity Controller] on her in revenge was quite entertaining in itself.

-knock, knock-

Sadako, the ghost maid whom I aptly named, floated in.

Just as I finish musing, the door opens further, and two beautiful and rather curvy women with slim waists enter, following my maid.

The first woman had long, wavy, cherry blossom hair and two horns protruding from her head as she wore a high-cut formal dress with high slits as she leaned against the frame like sin incarnate.

The other, tall and dignified, had long silver hair with a long braid on each side with small blue bows at the ends, while the rest was let down ending in twin braids, who wore a blue and white French maid uniform with a stern gaze.

They were Roygun Belphegor and Grayfia Lucifuge.

But as I look closely at her, I can spot that there was a hint of red on Grayfia's cheeks.

If I were a harem protagonist, here would be the part where I would say;

'Ano... Eto.. Your face seems kinda red. Do you have a fever-desuka?'

But it's not like I would do that anyway, especially since we all know that she doesn't have a fever.

"Ahem. Don't mind me, I just have a slight fever." Grayfia stiffly said as I looked at her.

I sighed as I looked at her even closely. Putting magic into my eyes, I can really see that she truly has a slight fever.

'Oh, me and my big mouth, you have got to be kidding me.'

"Shouldn't you be recuperating at home?" I asked as she declined, preferring being on the job rather than resting.

Bravo Grayfia.

You would make a Japanese Salaryman who works for a Company with poor labor laws and cruel work hours jealous of your devotion to your job.

"Look, I've got a couple of rooms so you can... Ah, whatever." As I continued to tell her to rest, I eventually gave up and sent Rias to do it instead. "Hey, Tomato-chan, you tell her to do it. She's your maid, after all."

"Hey! Don't call me that!" Rias squeaked.

Roygun Belphegor, on the other hand, who was one of the expelled champions of the Rating Games, simply smiled.

Though her crimes were exposed, and her records were stripped before she was exiled, she didn't look broken.

She looked... rather relaxed.

"Hmmn? So this is the cutie who saved Cleria and exposed what Grandpa Bael was plotting?" She smiled as she came closer. "Roygun Belphegor, it's definitely a pleasure to meet you."

I then heard her mutter under her breath about 'future potential' and how she sees a 'satisfying foundation' and all of that.

One might wonder why they're here, but I knew it pretty well.

They were here because the Four Maou sent them. And I know why.

---Surveillance and Observation. Mostly.

Maybe they thought that they could eventually convince me to reincarnate as a Devil.

But it's not gonna happen though, not because I hate them, but rather because I want to be the one doing the driving, not following orders in someone's peerage.

But let them try.

If they think sending two dangerous beauties to 'monitor' me will work---

They've clearly underestimated me.

I've got samples of various DNA, and the abilities that I will subsume are... many.

And I won't stop either, I'll become the very best Gary-Stu that no one ever was.

---And no, I'm not being self-aware. If my life is a story, then I really want to be that strong and amazing so that the very word 'tension' is erased from my life.

A perfect Harem life doesn't sound too bad if you catch my drift.

---As of right now, I am simply a wannabe cool guy tryhard who is a devout follower of Cringe.

Nice, just the way I like it.

So let them come. Let them all come.

Because honestly?

I can't wait for the future.

Trivia Time! (Againx16!!)

Did You Know?(ofc you know)

Ishibumi had previously worked on a horror genre series two years prior to the publishing of the first light novel for High School DxD, and in the Volume 1 afterword, he mentions that he changed his writing style, and wanted to develop one in the school-life, love-comedy, battle, and fantasy genres.

His main character, Issei, was made into a lecherous guy at the request of his editor. For the first volume, he made Rias a second lead character and heroine, and Asia to be the second heroine.

(Now we know why this guy is the way he is...)

Anways, you know unlike DxD, Shimaou New Testament Sister Devil went full smut and eroge with plot after Basara defeats the main villain?

Expect stuff like that in the next volume.

Dattebayo.
