Chapter 48: Wrath of the Stormborne
The sky churned above, thunderclouds crackling with ominous fury. The battlefield lay in ruins—splintered trees, scorched earth, and the corpses of goblins strewn like discarded puppets. The stench of blood and burnt flesh hung thick in the air.
ROOOOAR!!!
A monstrous roar tore through the forest, shaking the heavens. Grimgut Ironbelly's eyes locked onto Lei Feng, blazing with pure, undiluted hatred. His jagged teeth gnashed together as he raised both his colossal weapons high—a black iron axe in one hand, a reinforced spiked club in the other.
CLANG!
The weapons clashed above his head, a burst of sparks raining down as the metallic ring echoed. Grotesque muscles bulged, mana flaring wildly around him like a raging inferno. Then—without warning—he charged.
BOOOOOOOM!!!
Trees snapped. The earth cracked beneath his stampede.
Lei Feng stood unflinching, lightning crackling around him like a god reborn. Calm eyes shimmered with blue electricity.
"Hmph. You're strong... but predictable," he said with a faint smile.
Grimgut's enormous frame blurred forward with terrifying speed—shockingly fast for his bulk. Weapons raised high, he plummeted toward Lei Feng like a meteor, a living avalanche of death.
But Lei Feng had fought Kraxxar.
Compared to that beast's raw speed and ferocity, Grimgut was sluggish. He could follow every move with ease.
"Hahaha! DIE, HUMAN!"
Grimgut bellowed triumphantly, convinced Lei Feng was frozen in fear.
But he had miscalculated.
A heartbeat before impact—Lei Feng smiled.
"Lightning Flash."
ZZZAAAK—BOOOOOM!!!
A thunderous explosion split the ground as Grimgut's full weight crashed down, unleashing a shockwave that sent boulders flying and dust mushrooming skyward. A crater formed beneath him—wide and deep. Trees collapsed from the force.
Grimgut raised his head, bellowing a victorious roar to the sky, his jiggling belly trembling with each breath.
But as the dust cleared...
There was no blood. No mangled corpse. No Lei Feng.
Grimgut's grin faded.
His yellow eyes bulged.
Jaw unhinged.
"Looking for me?"
The voice came from behind—calm, mocking.
Grimgut spun around. Lei Feng stood with pristine elegance, robes immaculate, not a speck of dust on him.
"No need to be surprised," Lei Feng said coolly. "You thought you could take me out that easily? How laughable."
He vanished in a burst of crackling arcs.
"Lightning Steps!"
Lei Feng's form blurred, streaking through the battlefield like living electricity. Though not as instantaneous as Lightning Flash, his movements were nearly imperceptible—Grimgut could barely track him.
That's when Grimgut saw his true target.
The goblin shamans.
"WRAWNDA-HEINO!!!"
Grimgut screamed in panic. The shamans shrieked and raised their staffs, dark mana coiling around the gnarled wood. They etched runes in the air with frenzied speed, chanting in a tongue twisted by malice.
"HRAAK-NUUN!"
KA-BOOOOOOM!!!
Four cursed spells exploded into a singular storm of dark violet death. The air bent. Trees warped. The earth trembled. The fused spell surged toward Lei Feng like a ravenous demon.
But Lei Feng merely narrowed his eyes. Lightning danced in his pupils.
"Futile effort..."
He weaved through the vortex with spectral grace, his body flickering like lightning itself. Then—he was simply there, before the shamans.
Their eyes widened in terror.
"KALADESH-SIVA!!!"
They shrieked, staff hands trembling, formation broken.
"Hmph. You're already dead."
Lei Feng's aura surged. Stormpiercer glowed with a corona of blue lightning. The very air hummed with destructive potential.
"Lightning Slash!"
ZZZAAAAAK—CRAAAACK!!!
Stormpiercer cleaved through the air in a luminous arc, the energy slash a crescent-shaped bolt of divine fury. It sliced through the shamans in a single, blinding instant. Their bodies split cleanly—charred, smoking, and motionless before they even hit the ground.

A wave of rejuvenation flooded through Lei Feng's body. His muscles tightened with newfound strength. Mana surged like a raging tide. His very core shimmered with clarity.
"Ah... I'm getting addicted to this feeling," he muttered, flexing his hands as arcs danced over his skin.
Then his gaze snapped to the system screen.
"Hm? A double reward again... just like at Level 10. But the EXP bar—why did it spike? That's almost twice the previous requirement!"

BOOOOOM!!!

Lei Feng reappeared some distance away, sweat trailing down his brow.
"That was close..." he exhaled.

RRRAAAHK!!!
The forest trembled. A blood-curdling roar echoed as Grimgut erupted with wild aura. The earth cracked beneath his fury.
Lei Feng turned.
Grimgut's gaze burned with insane rage—eyes bloodshot, veins bulging, teeth grinding.
He stomped the ground, each motion trembling with humiliation and fury.
Lei Feng had ignored him. Treated him as nothing. That humiliation crushed Grimgut's pride more than a thousand blades.
The last five goblin warriors stood frozen, pale as death. Their wills had long shattered—but they stepped forward anyway, gripping their axes tightly under their chief's maddened aura.
Lei Feng sighed.
He clicked his tongue.
"It's about time I got serious."
His aura shifted.
Stormpiercer hummed, glowing violently. His robes fluttered—not from wind—but power. The very air bent around him.
The goblin warriors tensed. Grimgut's rage kept them rooted. But their bodies screamed to flee.
"Let's end this."
Lei Feng vanished in a burst of lightning.
