Chapter 131 - Chapter 131: The Stolen Chakra Fruit

Chapter 131: The Stolen Chakra Fruit

It originated from the same source as the previous spacetime anomaly, though it took place in another dimension thousands of years ago.

The "Rabbit Goddess" Kaguya Ōtsutsuki had finally succeeded in cultivating the Divine Tree on Earth. At long last, it bore fruit—a ripe and radiant Chakra Fruit.

Just as this "Rabbit Goddess" reached out to pluck it—already savoring the sweet fragrance exuding from its surface—her fingertips barely a hair's breadth from the long-desired fruit—

"Za Warudo!"

A cracking sound echoed in her ears as the world turned black and white, as if time itself had frozen.

In the very next instant, everything returned to normal.

However, Kaguya's hand grasped only empty air.

Eyes wide with confusion, she muttered, "The fruit... is gone?"

It had clearly been right there a moment ago. That massive fruit—where did it go?

At that moment, the fruit was already in Yamcha's hand.

Yamcha examined the Divine Tree Fruit carefully. It resembled a wax apple with a hint of onion-like shape, yet it was far larger and heavier than both combined. Strange circular patterns—like the Rinnegan—spiraled around its left and right sides. It smelled faintly of cucumber with a hint of apple and had a unique, fresh sweetness.

"Who are you?"

A crisp voice rang out.

"Why did you steal what's mine?!"

The speaker was a woman dressed in white, with silver-white hair, white eyes, and snow-white skin—completely white, to an unnatural and eerie degree. She resembled a Japanese geisha.

Most striking of all, she had a pair of symmetrical horns on her head.

She was none other than the Rabbit Goddess Kaguya—the one whose fruit had just been stolen by Yamcha.

Or rather, you may know her by another name—Ōtsutsuki Kaguya.

"That fruit is mine," Kaguya said calmly, pointing at the Divine Tree Fruit in Yamcha's hand. Her voice was ethereal, devoid of emotion—neither joy nor sorrow, as if simply stating a fact.

Yet from that eerie calm, Yamcha could sense her suppressed fury.

Was Kaguya truly not angry that her Chakra Fruit had been stolen?

What a joke.

She had betrayed her own clan, her entire lineage, for that fruit.

It was her one trump card in rebelling against the Ōtsutsuki clan—to avoid being devoured. Of course she cared.

In truth, she was on the verge of madness. She simply didn't know how to express emotions like "anger."

In response to Kaguya's demand, Yamcha nonchalantly waved a finger in front of her face, unbothered by the fact that he was clearly adding fuel to the fire:

"No. It doesn't belong to you, or your clan. It belongs to this world—this planet."

As he spoke, the fruit disappeared into his storage space (inventory).

The Ōtsutsuki clan is scattered across the universe. Their purpose in arriving on planets is to plant Divine Trees. Once planted, the tree's roots rapidly spread to every corner of the world, siphoning all life energy to eventually produce a single Chakra Fruit.

Sound familiar?

It's reminiscent of the Tree of Might from Dragon Ball movies.

Both are planted on a planetary scale. Both drain the life force of all living things on that planet. Both produce a fruit in the end.

Even though they differ in appearance, the concept is eerily similar.

The fruit of the Tree of Might is said to be edible only by gods, while the Divine Tree Fruit is collected by the Ōtsutsuki not merely for personal use, but to be offered to the clan's elite—gathered and consumed to push the race toward divine evolution.

One is for gods to eat. The other is eaten to become gods.

Doesn't that sound even more alike?

Whether Tree of Might or Divine Tree—the essence is the same:

They are both extractors of life essence.

To a planet and its inhabitants, both are parasites.

So rather than say the Chakra Fruit belongs to the Ōtsutsuki, it's more accurate to say it's the crystallization of the life force they've plundered from a planet.

In that sense, Yamcha wasn't wrong.

"Lies!"

Kaguya's ethereal voice trembled—perhaps with rage?

"It is mine."

She pointed first at the now-transforming Divine Tree, turning into a Ten Tails monster, and then at the spot where the fruit once hung.

"That is mine."

Her logic was simple: I planted the tree. The fruit is mine.

Yamcha nearly burst out laughing at her reasoning.

This was the first time he'd seen such a naive final boss.

Kaguya's debut as the ultimate antagonist of Naruto had always felt a bit like a deus ex machina. Compared to other villains in the series, her motivations and character felt overly simplistic and innocent.

She lacked the menace of Orochimaru's first appearance.

She didn't deliver the crushing impact of Pain leveling Konoha.

She didn't exude the domineering charisma of Madara's "Uchiha Madara acknowledges you as the strongest."

All she had were her hacks—and being hacked.

Even the battle between the protagonist team and Kaguya lacked the intensity and tension of previous arcs, and felt almost… comedic.

Of course, she only seems innocent. She's far from sweet and naive. If you're not her kin, just look at what happened to the 100,000 White Zetsu—then you'll know your fate.

"Maybe the tree was brought here by you, but the power inside the fruit isn't."

"That power comes from this planet."

"You stole it."

Yamcha pointed at the ground beneath his feet, then at Kaguya.

"So what's wrong with me stealing from you?"

"Those worthy should possess treasures."

If you are a plunderer—

Then be prepared to be plundered in return.

You can steal from others; others can steal from you.

"Despicable lowly creature!"

Kaguya's face grew even paler in anger.

They say "pale skin hides all flaws," but this was a bit much.

To the Ōtsutsuki—who can traverse galaxies freely—earthlings who can only live on one planet really are lowly creatures.

The term "lower lifeforms" is often used by them to describe planetary natives.

Kaguya was no exception.

But she rarely spoke.

So to hear her say this much in one go was quite rare.

"Return it to me!"

Kaguya no longer wished to argue. She flew to the top of the Ten Tails-form Divine Tree, which immediately went berserk. Countless tentacle-like vines lashed out toward Yamcha from all directions.

"Spirit of Wind."

Yamcha snapped his fingers lightly, and hundreds of glowing green motes appeared around him.

A storm of wind blades—seemingly endless—rained down upon the Ten Tails. Each blade carried immense piercing power, easily shredding through steel alloys.

They struck with precision, exploding into a massive cloud of dust.

A high-level elemental spirit summon—

The spell of a YGGDRASIL Mage.
