~ Michael's POV
As soon as Bella left the hospital, I turned and headed straight for Mia's room.
I pushed the door open gently and stepped inside. The room was quiet. The machines made their usual soft beeping sounds, and the sunlight coming through the window fell gently across her face.
I walked closer and sat on the chair beside her bed.
"Hey, Mia," I said softly. "It's me again. Michael."
I leaned back and looked at her face. She looked peaceful, still, and quiet like always. But today, there was something different in the air, more like an array of hope.
"You really scared Bella today," I said with a small smile. "But in a good way. She was so happy when you squeezed her hand."
I reached out and gently brushed a loose strand of hair from her forehead.
"I checked your scans again," I said. "Everything looks better. I think you're really fighting now. I think you want to come back."
I paused and looked at her for a moment.
