~Alex's POV
I stood outside the warehouse, the cold night air brushing against my skin. The smell of blood still lingered, thick and metallic, even though I'd wiped my hands clean. Some of it was Victor's. Some of it was Lorenzo's. I stopped keeping track a long time ago.
Inside, Luca and my men were finishing up, making sure there was no trace of what went down. I leaned against the hood of the SUV, rolling my shoulders, trying to shake off the tension that still sat heavy in my chest.
Another lesson learned. Another problem taken care of.
I pulled out a pack of cigarettes from my jacket pocket, tapping one out. I didn't even smoke that much, but tonight felt like one of those nights. I had just lit it when the warehouse door creaked open.
Luca stepped out, wiping his hands on a rag, his face unreadable. I knew Luca. He was always steady, always in control. But something was different.
Something was wrong.
