"Quick, Gilbert, go after her! Are you really going to let her carry the child to the hospital like that?" Amanda rushed over as soon as she heard Claire's voice. Seeing her son standing there dazed, she urged him forward.
Gilbert snapped out of it and turned to follow.
Watching her son and Claire's retreating figures, Amanda finally let out a sigh of relief. It seemed her son had finally listened to her and invited Claire to be the child's tutor.
Good.
She smiled faintly.
At the hospital.
"Mr. Watson, his fever hit 42°C. Fortunately, you brought him in just in time. Otherwise, there could have been lasting complications," Professor Ingram said with lingering fear.
"Thank you, Professor Ingram. Please, I'm begging you, do everything you can to cure my son," Gilbert said, his voice trembling. Tonight, if it hadn't been for Claire, he wouldn't have made it here in time.
He glanced at Claire, a rare flicker of gratitude flashing through his eyes.
