Avery spent the drive to Vicente's house thinking of how he would begin the conversation. By the time the familiar gates were in sight, he still hadn't found a good start.
He drove slowly into the compound, enjoying the freshness of nature that was Vicente's mansion. Avery preferred a home like his grandfather's, something tucked away from the hustle bustle of the city —away from the skyscrapers, hustling businesses and air that had become choked with exhaust.
The butler —Matthew was waiting for him at the door, warm smile and soft eyes that Avery had strangely missed.
"Matthew." Avery smiled— the first genuine smile since his visit to the hospital—eyes lightening with joy as he hugged the older man.
"It's been a long time Young Master Avery." Matthew smiled at him as they disengaged from the hug.
"None of that Young Master Avery thing," Avery frowned, "you're like an uncle to me." He added.
