Vivianne didn't like change— the uncertainty, the instability, the unknown fear that came with it. Years of living in poverty and a hostile environment that bred instability for years had made her loathe to move on from her comfort zone to something she couldn't confirm was solid.
Life had been hard since Vivianne could tell, she was born into a family of five— her father, her mother, her older sister, she and her younger brother. The last child had been born on the cold floors of their one room that they shared with bed bugs and rats because there was no money to pay for the hospital's expensive bill.
Vivianne had remembered hovering in the room nervously while her mother directed her to heat the water, her sister's hands struggling to pull the baby's shoulder out.
