Chapter 88 - Chapter 86: Counterattack Against Melina

"Persistent as a ghost!"

Roy turned around, his gaze icy as he looked up at Melina, who sat atop a giant hound, towering over him. His heart was set on killing her.

"Run, why aren't you running?" Melina, however, was in high spirits, smiling as she taunted him. "With your two legs, do you think you can outrun my dog's four?"

Roy ignored her provocation and activated the [Eye of Hermes], once again assessing her condition.

Melina held a short wand in her right hand, and her attire was a female Wizard Robe from the outside world, which had already surpassed the usual regulations, adorned with intricate Mithril Patterns.

But the Magical Aura emanating from them was white, still belonging to the level of Enchanted Items for apprentices.

It seemed that most of her strength lay in her Summons rather than in Magical Treasures.

A dangerous red glint flashed in Roy's eyes, like a surge of electric light emerging from the back of his head.

Suddenly, the Levitating Magic Orb rose into the air, glowing with a blazing white electric light.

This rare Magical Treasure, of second-tier quality, was equivalent to a Wizardry Artifact used by second-tier Wizards, far exceeding the current stage's power.

Even Roy himself had not fully unlocked its potential, only able to unleash its spell power to a degree of several tens.

But even so, the immense power it displayed while charging was enough to make Melina's heart race.

She pointed her finger, and several Hellhounds leaped into the attack.

These Summons had been hiding on the giant hound's back, originally intended for an ambush.

But now, they had jumped out on their own, blocking the path of the attack.

The Lightning Beam unleashed by the Levitating Magic Orb instantly pierced through one of them, the electric current surging and electrocuting the surrounding Hellhounds, killing them on the spot.

But with their interception, the giant hound still managed to close in on Roy.

Melina summoned several medium-sized Hellhounds to surround him, sneering, "It seems you've picked up a treasure in Chalkland that you can use immediately!

But after I kill you, it will be mine!"

She mistakenly thought the Levitating Magic Orb was the spoils of this encounter.

But in the end, it seemed like a lucky guess.

As she spoke, she pointed her short wand, and mysterious ripples spread out. Wizardry Energy transformed into invisible Netherflame, enveloping Roy's head.

Roy instantly felt his body grow heavy, his steps becoming increasingly sluggish.

"This is the Slow Spell!"

A Slow Spell at the apprentice level could effectively weaken mobility.

Roy, who had been able to dodge the attacks of the medium-sized hounds with agility, could no longer do so as his steps slowed.

He quickly activated the hair on his back, which shot out like iron spears.

A vicious hound lunged at him, but the rapidly growing hair acted as armor, instantly blocking the front.

"Useless!" Melina slapped the giant hound beneath her, and it raised its massive paw, slamming both the vicious hound and Roy away.

Roy felt the terrifying force, but the hair barrier still protected his body, surrounding him like an iron cage.

Moments later, Roy steadied himself and took out a longsword from his Spatial Ring. Like a dragon-slaying hero, he swung the sword to meet the giant hound charging at him again.

The sound of metal clashing rang out, sparks flying as the weapon quickly became chipped and deformed under the immense force.

The giant dog's massive paw swiped at Roy, bending the hair that stood in front of him like iron wires.

The Hair Demon Physique automatically counterattacked, forming sharp spikes that drilled into its flesh, but they barely managed to penetrate its defenses.

"It's useless! My dog possesses strength and physique far beyond that of an ordinary human!

Even if you train to the level of a Grand Knight, you'd only have 10 degrees of strength!"

Melina watched Roy's desperate resistance with amusement.

This was the best a newly promoted Elite Apprentice could do.

As if sensing her thoughts, the giant dog grew even more excited, fiercely biting into Roy's hair and tearing at it repeatedly.

As large clumps of hair were ripped away and scattered, Roy's hair truly lived up to the saying—it looked as if it had been gnawed by a dog.

These bites shattered the Wizardry Energy attached to the Hair Demon Physique, forcing it to shrink back.

Roy felt as if the Hair Demon Physique had suffered a severe blow, temporarily losing its activated power.

But just as the giant dog opened its bloody maw to bite down again, a burst of white light suddenly surged from his body.

It was the Aegis Stone he had bought from Melina!

The giant dog's fangs hit something as hard as a massive steel ball, unable to advance any further.

Roy took a deep breath, channeling all his Wizardry Energy with full force.

The previously withered hair suddenly grew wildly, extending to seven or eight meters in an instant, tightly binding the giant dog's forelimbs.

At the same time, the hair reached out toward Melina, swiftly wrapping around her legs!

Feeling the pulling force from both sides, Melina's face twisted in shock and anger, thinking Roy intended to tear her apart.

But instead, Roy extended his arm and unleashed an Acid Splash, its powerful corrosive force instantly melting through flesh!

"Ah!"

A pained scream rang out.

Melina had instinctively used her mental energy to create an Invisible Force Field in front of her to block the acid.

But she hadn't expected that Roy wasn't using ordinary acid—it was a Blackening Potion!

The moment it made contact, Melina's eyes were blinded, and her snow-white neck and delicate face began to corrode rapidly.

The intense pain and panic disrupted her focus, while blood and corrosive liquid flowed down her neck, causing even greater damage.

If not for her clothes providing some slight protection, she might have melted like a wax figure doused in boiling water!

Meanwhile, some of the Blackening Potion dripped onto the giant dog's back, causing its flesh to fester as it let out a howl of agony.

The orb behind Roy gathered energy once more, and a Lightning Beam struck, finally knocking Melina off the dog's back.

Boom!

The giant dog turned into a puff of smoke and disappeared from the spot.

Seeing the situation turn dire, it had used its Plane Shuttle ability, granted by its contract, to cancel the Summoning.

"Cough... cough..."

In the wilderness, on the grass.

Melina lay on the ground, coughing up blood, her face filled with terror and disbelief.

"What... what is this?

How is this possible?"

She was horrified to discover that her meticulously refined Elite Apprentice body, which had already reached the level of a Grand Knight, couldn't withstand this substance.

If she hadn't been caught off guard, she wouldn't have been defeated so easily.

The sheer terror of this thing far exceeded her understanding.

Moreover, the shield that Roy used to block the giant dog's attack was nothing like what an apprentice should possess.

He effortlessly and unscathedly withstood the attack!

If it weren't for that, he wouldn't have had the chance to counterattack so easily!

Of course, Roy couldn't tell her the truth. He simply held his sword and silently walked towards Melina.
