I wasn't sure what and how to respond to it. For one, I was grateful that it had nothing to do with our baby and it wasn't generally any unpleasant news or request but then, Leonard's request was also a cause for concern.
Even though I tried to be carefree with Leonard, especially after we had sex, there was a force that kept reminding me that our present living arrangement would come to an end really soon, and somehow, that reminder had held me in check.
And now I had to go on a real date with Leonard. Wasn't that a little too far? Won't there be a follow up date or subsequent dates? Won't I come to miss all these at the end of it all?
All these thoughts ran through my head while Leonard stared at me, waiting for an answer. His expression was gloomy, a mixture of expectation and worry.
I can't agree to it, I decided, sighing loudly, and looking up at him. Not even the pitiful look on his face will make me change my mind.
