In truth, their Cores weren't worth much, but he could still get something for them. But there was no medicine for regret, and Jeremy didn't care too much. He could kill much stronger monsters; credits wouldn't be a problem in the future.
But now things were different—now he needed them, even for his friends.
"Alright," said Jeremy with determination, "Don't worry. I'll take care of you. You can't stay with a Low Potential for much longer. You'd only die. Leave it to me."
Jeremy looked deeply at the two boys. Even though he no longer felt the same emotions as before, he still cared a little about them. They'd shared good times, and the simple fact that they cared about him—so much that they were willing to face certain death just for revenge—had warmed his heart.
"Jeremy… what do you mean?" asked Ivan, confused.
"Don't tell me you suddenly became rich," Nathan said, eyes wide. "Could it be that the Headmistress gave you a ton of credits?"
