Thinking it was the best time for Sabrina to break the news of divorcing him to Lexis, and also about Jason's company, she came forward and stood some miles away from him,
"Lexis," she called his name briefly, "I want you to drop the punishment on the Kennedy's company. And, also, I want us to divorce as soon as we can. If possible, I'd love us to file for it tomorrow."
Lexis narrowed his eyes as he laughed, "I should restore Jason Kennedy's company? No, I won't. We should file for divorce? That would be over my dead body." His calm composure annoyed her.
"If you don't want to help Jason, then fine. But we are sure going to divorce." Sabrina raised her voice, a bit too loud.
"Sabrina Woodsman, there's nothing like divorce between both of us in this lifetime."
"You don't want to divorce? Alright then, if I cheat on you, don't blame me for committing adultery!."
Lexis stood up from the sofa, his face ashen, "You say what?."
Sabrina was also shocked by her own words—she openly said it to Lexis' face that she'd cheat on him.
She hadn't realised he was close to her until he pushed her to the sofa and climbed on top of her, straddling her.
Before she could protest, he bent and bit her neck, so hard that she cried out painfully.
"Lexis! leave me alone! Go and meet your fiancée and stop touching me!."
She thrashed, crying so heartbreakingly Lexis stopped biting her.
"I don't have a fiancée."
"Stop with the lie!." Sabrina used all her strength to push him down to the floor, "Emily is your fiancée, go and meet her!."
Lexis dusted his body, puzzled at what he heard, "Emily is my childhood friend, not my fiancée. She never was."
She sat up, tears still rolling down her face, "Then why were your mom and Freya being so friendly to her? Why did Freya call her sister-in-law? Why?."
"That's because—."
"You knew you were engaged, yet you made the contract with me. You made me feel like a homewrecker."
"Sabrina you—."
"I want to divorce." She said so quietly and angrily that Lexis had to grab her hands, "We are not going to divorce, and we will not. Can you calm and listen to me?."
"Why should I calm down and listen to you?."
Lexis ticked his jaw, "Someone made you to misunderstand my relationship with Wmiky, that's why you're acting so childish and out of control. I saw the picture of you holding hands with your ex today at the restaurant. I waited for you to come home and explain only for you to tell me to restore his company back to normal, and ask for a divorce. Yet, I kept my cool. Did I act up? Even though I'm raging bull right now?."
Sabrina was speechless as she watched Lexis stand up, "Emily had been my childhood friend. A friend I consider always as my younger sister," He knelt in between Sabrina, placing his hands on her thighs, "she likes me, but I don't. My mother and Freya took her as my wife, or rather soon-to-be wife, but I can swear I have no feelings for her. Hell no, never did, never will."
He wiped a tear drop from her cheek, "I was with no one when you came with the contract. I was not in any relationship with anyone."
Despite his explanation, Sabrina remained silent, just quietly watching him—to see if she'd catch a hint of lie; but he was sincere, completely sincere.
He scooped her up into his arms protectively.
"Who told you Emily is my fiancée?."
"Emily." Came her strained, dried voice. It sounded so whiny because she had cried just a few minutes ago.
The look on Emily's face; helplessness, betrayal, and a slight hatred was obvious—very obvious Sabrina doubted she's lie about such a thing.
Lexis' gaze hardened, "She lied. She's not my fiancée, and never was."
Sabrina rubbed her head against his warm, hard chest, inhaling his usual minty scent mixed with tobacco.
"But..she's your childhood friend. That means you guys did a lot of things, right?."
"Not right." Lexis patted her hair, "she's just like a sister to me. Sure we did a lot of things; games you know. But I have never done anything that a couple should do with her."
"Okay." She sniffed.
He glanced at her, "You were jealous, weren't you?."
"Very jealous I wished I never met you." She said. She thought she sounded too harsh for the statement, but instead, Lexis laughed—laughed so hard at what she said.
"Trust me, my wife. She was never my fiancée or someone that I loved. Don't be angry anymore, okay?." Seeing the plea in those black eyes of his, Sabrina relented.
She sank deeper into his embrace, trying to feel all the warmth in him. His eyes softened by her action.
"I met Jason because of his company. He looked stressed and told me his father is terribly sick." She paused to see his reaction, "And his father—Patrick was the only person that liked me when I was with Jason then. The news about the company falling apart is pushing him into overthink, and that's not good for his health. Please Lexis, I'm pleading with you, remove them from the blacklist. Patrick was like a father to me."
"Okay." Lexus agreed after some moments of silence. He got his handset and made a call to George, giving instructions.
He ended the call, "I'm done. Before tomorrow morning, the company would be back to its state."
The grateful smile on her face warmed his heart.
"Thank you."
"But on one condition." Sabrina shot him a weary look,
"What's that?."
"Be my secretary, or work at my company."

The Next Day
"It's not funny at all." Sabrina complained over the phone to Windy,
"He was still bent on making me his secretary."
Windy laughed, "That's love babe, love."
Sabrina wore a pencil skirt as she used her shoulder to support the phone to her ears, "Love? That's madness."
"You're the one saying it lie that," Windy said, "it shows he really likes you to the point of wanting you to be always around him."
Sabrina rolled her eyes, though there was a smile on her face.
When she checked the time, she gasped, "I'll call you back, Windy. It's already eight and I'm yet to go."
"All right then. See ya later." She hung up.
Sabrina hastily put on a white, long sleeves shirt and started buttoning up.
She wore a pair of black court shoes.
Then, styling her hair in a high pony-tail, she complimented her look in the mirror.
Today was her first day at work. At the Woodsman's company.
