Hazel took Ron and Professor Lupin to Madame Pompfry while Harry and Hermione ran around Saving the day.
"You placed Professor Lupin into a slumber?"
Madame Pompfry's eyes were wide and awe laced her voice. She looked to this young witch, much too young and more capable than she felt she could ever imagine.
"Yes ma'am. It is an incantation I have been working on. To be honest I was not sure that it would even work here in En." He should sleep until tomorrow and then we can administer the potion to him once he wakes up. Have they arrived yet?"
"They will be here in a few hours. Professor Dumbledore had to stop many people in their tracks. I heard half of the hospital was headed over with them before the professor stepped in."
Hazel nodded. "I think we should have the potion perfected this week. That said I better go to Professor Snape's lab." She looked to Ron. "Ron are you okay?"
"I am fine. I am not even in any pain. Thanks for the sweets."
Madame Pompfry Sucked her teeth. "'Thanks for the sweets' she is the reason you are not in pain." She looked to Hazel with a smile. "You are truly a gifted healer. Remember that when you're thinking about a profession."
Hazel smiled. Madame Pompfry continually worked to convince Hazel to be a healer, much to professor McGonagall's consternation.
"You're very welcome Ron, Harry and Hermione should be here soon. I have to go."
Ron nodded. "I will be okay."
The potion they were working to create to bring the Longbottoms back to their senses was actually going to be a potion activated by an incantation while Hazel and the Longbottoms were on the dreamscape. Hazel and the others decided this would be the best way to control the process and not just completely melt the Longbottoms' brains all together.
Hazel knocked on the door of professor Snape's lab. He bade her enter and the door swung open on its own. Hazel entered and a white lab coat quickly rose from a hook near the door and flew to her. She lifted her arms and allowed it to put itself on her.
Professor Snape was at his workbench fully focused.
"we will administer the potion to Professor Lupin tomorrow once he awakens."
"I will be there."
She nodded as she observed his work from a distance. She grimaced as she saw the potion turn a deep grey color. She stepped back without a sound and the potion erupted into a thick grey sludge and quickly overflowed onto the workbench. The workbench wards sparked red and green as they worked to neutralize the solution.
"Add a bit of water to it and break the bonds. This should stop more from forming."
Professor Snape was adding a drop of water even before she finished speaking. The solution neutralized, turned white, and began to recede back into the flask.
"What did I do wrong? I followed the directions precisely."
"First: it is a potion full of mental energy. You have to remain neutral or it will move against you or even try to dominate your will and consume your mental energy.
"Second: we probably should work on this on the dreamscape. That is essentially where I will be administering the potion so it should do better adhering to dreamscape norms and rules.
"Thirdly: you flipped the order of those last two ingredients you added."
Professor Snape frowned and looked at the ingredients and began thinking about what he had just done. He rolled his eyes but stopped himself from face-palming.
"He nodded. Tonight we work on the dreamscape." Hazel nodded in agreement.
There were quite a few people on the dreamscape that night. Professors Snape and Adder, Sirius, Marcel, Evervine, Hermione, Harry, Ron, Fred, George, and Hazel.
Hazel, Marcel, and the professors were actually in a different part of the dreamscape away from the others but the others could actually see them as if they were watching an odd television program or movie.
"Now what did she name the potion again."
"Expergiscor Claritas."
Everyone turned to George as one and he shrugged. He would not apologize for knowing all things dealing with Hazel. He accepted the fact long ago that she was brilliant, beautiful, and out of his league, but she loved him and he loved her and that was all that mattered.
Sirius turned back to watch his best friend's daughter. She was absolutely running the show in the lab and the professors were following her directions without question. Suddenly he wished his friends were alive to see their children and how unbelievable they were.
"So where are you and the Hippogriff now Mr. Sirius?" He looked to Evervine with a smile. He liked that this girl was Hazel's good friend. "I mean you are more than welcome to come to Tan Dimension for a bit if you need to. I am sure Hazel will open a door for you."
He nodded in thought. That idea had never crossed his mind.
Suddenly a rainbow plume of smoke rose from the potion the others were working on and everything froze in both areas. After what seemed to be an eternity Marcel let out a tremendous celebratory roar while the others nodded in satisfaction.
Sirius sat on a large fluffy purple cloud sofa. He loved creating outrageous things here and he loved Hazel for giving him the privilege. He looked to the twins. They sat together but seemed so far apart. He knew that they were still upset but he also knew that they were still willing to do whatever needed to be done for each other.
He nodded.
"Harry. I am your godfather so I signed the permission slip so you can go to Hogsmeade. Hazel don't terrorize your aunt and uncle. I will handle that for now on. Once everything is settled and I am found innocent I want all of us to live together." Both Harry and Hazel nodded. There was sheer joy on Harry's face while Hazel looked a bit worried.
"Let's talk to Mr. Pettigrew before we turn him over." Harry and Sirius nodded in agreement. There was much that Peter Pettigrew needed to explain.
The next afternoon professor Lupin woke up in the school infirmary. All he remembered was Hazel reminding him that it was a full moon. Shame slid over his body like an odd unforgiving slime.
"He is awake. Remus? Can you hear me?"
It was Professor Dumbledore. Remus opened his eyes. It seemed like everyone was there. He frowned and Hazel immediately spoke.
"Back up everyone give him some space."
Everyone backed up and remained quiet for some time. Remus finally broke the silence.
"Can we start Hazel?" She nodded and stepped forward. Two potion vials appeared in her hand. Madame Pompfry stood on the other side of the bed and watched closely.
Hazel gave him half of the potion and he almost instantly went to sleep. Thirty minutes into this sleep she helped him to breathe in the gaseous part of the potion. She then sat down at his bed and dreamwalked to enter his dreams and make sure that everything was okay.
The dreamscape is both personal and communal. A dreamwalker walks through the barriers of the scape and can pass between the communal and into the personal. The communal areas are blurred jumbles. They are the combined dreams, passions, yearnings, fears, and imaginations of others but they only combine at the edges to form vast communal dreamscapes. These are not the dreamscapes of the dream world per se they are more an extension of the collective consciousness into the dream world.
Sometimes your communal dreamscapes were the combinations of your dreamscape and those of family or loved ones and some times your dreamscape blurred with another because of shared experiences, hate for one another or because you somehow have an affinity for the person or group.
Remus Lupin's communal dreamscape was unbelievably pristine and clear. It had a clarity to it that was almost frightening. It felt like the calm before the storm, a massive storm that could devour planets.
Hazel walked through the area tense and ready for anything and then she stopped in shock. Not because there was danger but because she was presented with something she had never seen before.
Lupin, and she was sure it was Professor Lupin, sat squatting on the ground in a tight ball. His skin was blue and seemed an odd texture like living leather and he had long white hair. He had one foot on the ground, the other knee on the ground and his right cheek also placed on the ground.
She sensed he was waiting. She looked around to make sure that she was still in one of his communal areas and when she verified that she was she began to probe to determine what was going on.
She quickly realized that he should not be there. She narrowed her eyes.
"Why are you here?"
"I just want it gone."
"But if you are here it can't leave."
"It is my only friend. It is my brother."
"And here in lies the truth. Do not feel guilty for wanting to be free."
"Free?"
"Is freedom such a foreign thing to you? Appreciate it, embrace it, understand what it means for you."
"Freedom? I can have that?"
"Yes. With no cost. And you will not lose he you will be able to control him. What was once a curse will become an asset."
"Asset?"
She saw his face move from the ground.
"You are sure of this?"
"I am positive."
He slowly stood, as if it took all his strength to straighten his body.
As soon as he was standing straight and tall before her did she lead him back to his dreamscape.
Hazel opened her eyes beside his bed and brought the the gaseous potion to his Professor Lupin's face.
The others frowned and Madame Pompfry spoke.
"It hasn't been thirty minutes. Has something happened?"
Hazel nodded. "Yes. He has accepted his situation." She shrugged. "Subconsciously he has. He may still need help once he wakes."
He took in the gas and his skin turned blue then returned to normal, after a few seconds, then a long thick section of white -silver hair grew on the right side of his face. They watched it extend down and continue past his chest.
"I think he will only need one dose." Dumbledore nodded in agreement with Hazel's assessment. Everyone else was a bit dumbfounded and could not yet speak.
"Miss McGonagall? Can I please have a word with you and Shyla?"
Shyla was instantly on her shoulder and cocked her head to the side. Professor Dumbledore smiled and nodded.
"May I please have a word with you Miss Shyla?"
