Chapter 90: Gear Second! Skypiea Rampage
"Handle it? But... such a massive thundercloud..."
Nami looked at him, unable to comprehend how such a vast thundercloud could possibly be dealt with.
"Just blast it away with Hakoku," Reiner chuckled lightly.
Might as well let Enel serve as practice for Luffy. Frieren could suppress Enel, but Reiner himself had a chance of being sneak-attacked. It couldn't be helped; his physical constitution was already very strong, but he was facing the Rumble-Rumble Fruit.
Although both sides had Observation Haki, Enel's speed was indeed faster. His undead couldn't guarantee blocking every attack in time, and unlike Luffy, he wasn't immune to lightning. Taking a two-hundred-million-volt hit would surely kill him instantly.
It wasn't a question of strength; without Armament Haki, who could possibly withstand two hundred million volts? This made Reiner even more eager to master the two types of Haki – he absolutely had to train them before the Summit War.
Regarding fruit matchups, Luffy was indeed Enel's natural counter, though Mantra was still tricky for Luffy.
After a while, the group finally arrived near the Ark, above an island cloud entangled with the Giant Beanstalk.
"Hey! Zoro! Sanji! Robin!" Luffy, standing on the hawk's back, waved and shouted loudly.
The figures below also looked up.
Jumping off the hawk onto the island cloud, Reiner surveyed the surroundings. The vast area was entirely composed of ruins, covered in moss and the green root systems originating from the vines.
"Looks like some kind of ruins," Nami guessed, looking around. But this was clearly an island cloud; how could there be ruins?
"These are indeed ruins. And precisely the City of Gold we were looking for."
Robin stood at the edge of the island cloud, pointing towards the base of the Giant Beanstalk, where a large expanse of ruins lay on the ground. "Four hundred years ago, the Golden City Shandora mentioned by Mont Blanc Noland was right here."
"Although I haven't found any records from that time yet, much of the information matches up. As for the gold..."
Robin looked towards the Ark floating nearby. "It was likely all plundered to build that ship."
The crew followed her gaze. Large parts of the Ark's structure were composed of gold, especially the brightly shining, massive Buddha head figurehead.
Seeing this, the crew's eyes couldn't help but burn with desire. What pirate didn't want treasure?
"Since that's the case! Let's beat Enel and then snatch the gold!"
Nami waved her hand grandly, pointing towards the Ark with fierce determination. "Luffy! Reiner! Go!"
Nice way to sic the dogs on him, Reiner rolled his eyes inwardly.
Just then, a flash of blue light appeared as a ferocious Thunder Dragon soared through the air towards them.
Enel, aboard the Ark, possessed Observation Haki covering the entire island and had naturally detected their arrival long ago.
Arcs of electricity crackled around the Thunder Dragon. Nami, who had been acting fierce just moments ago, immediately ducked behind the others in fright.
"I say... weren't you acting tough just now?" Reiner teased.
"Blep~" Nami stuck out her tongue, making a face in playful response.
A round mirror-like sand shield materialized, blocking the Thunder Dragon. Reiner then summoned the Blue and Red Ogres.
The berserk energy in the sky continuously brewed; even without Observation Haki, he could feel its terrifying presence.
"The thunderclouds are up to them," Reiner declared, being the first to leap onto the hawk summon. Seeing Zoro also looking eager, he couldn't help but add, "Leave Enel to me and Luffy. Trust us."
Zoro, back in the day, had charged Hawk-Eyes with three swords ready – stubborn as hell – and nearly gotten himself killed. But that, at least, was his path of the sword; they couldn't stop him.
Enel, however, was different. Against anyone on this sky island besides himself and Luffy, Enel could slaughter them effortlessly.
And he really killed! He wouldn't give you a line like "I'll wait for you at the top!" One lightning beam meant meeting your ancestors!
"That's right! Trust us!" Luffy grinned, then leaped onto the hawk's back. "Let's go."
Aboard the Ark...
Enel's face was ashen as he watched the two flying towards him, fury uncontrollably surging in his heart.
Especially that golden-haired man!!
Since obtaining the power of the Rumble-Rumble Fruit, when had he ever been so humiliated!?
"Mere mortals! How dare you transgress against the majesty of God!"
"You really think I'm afraid of you!?"
Enel grinned savagely, lightning surging around his body. He had already figured out how to fight them during their previous battle.
Just keep moving with speed, constantly staying mobile. Opportunities to attack will eventually arise. The opponent can't possibly defend perfectly every single time.
Although I risk taking hits myself, and might not outlast them in stamina, it's better than just passively taking a beating.
He glanced towards the small figure beside Reiner, his eyes filled with apprehension. Neither Logia nor Zoan...
Paramecia abilities are bizarre beyond measure. But that opponent likely commanded subordinates to fight; Enel had seen through that long ago. Just need to take out the blond man, and his ability will be forcibly dispelled!
Pat!
"For the Chestnut-Head Old Man's waiting! For the peace everyone in Skypiea hopes for!"
Luffy landed on the Ark, glared at Enel, spread his legs, braced his arms on the deck, and directly activated his Gear Second stance!
"A guy like you... is completely unworthy of being called God!"
"Engage... Gear Second!!"
"Heheh... Mortals revere gods, fear gods! And power... is the source of fear!"
Enel laughed savagely. "I am Fear! I am God!"
"60 Million Volt Julungul!" With a strike of his golden staff against the drums above his head, lightning surged forth, transforming into a dragon that lunged towards the charging Luffy to bite him.
"So fast!"
Two voices exclaimed simultaneously, both shocked by the opponent's speed!
The Thunder Dragon moved extremely fast. Luffy saw the attack arrive in the blink of an eye and was instantly alarmed. But dodging was already impossible! His hands formed into palms, rapidly retracting before shooting towards Enel!
"Gum-Gum Jet Bazooka!"
Crackle!
The Thunder Dragon struck Luffy head-on, passing through him. At the same time, Luffy's twin palms slammed hard into Enel's abdomen, sinking deep into his body!
"Puwah!!" Enel's face twisted in pain. The unexpected blow bent his entire body into the shape of a shrimp as he spat out a large mouthful of blood!
BANG!!
The next moment, Enel shot backward like an arrow loosed from its string, crashing heavily against the gold-plated wall, scarlet blood uncontrollably flowing from his mouth.
"Why... could you hit me!?" Enel's face was extremely pained as he looked towards Luffy with utter disbelief.
"And... my technique..."
"Phew~~ Scared me to death! What was that thing just now?"
Luffy seemed unharmed, letting out a breath and patting his chest. He then raised his hand to scratch under his armpit, saying strangely, "Feels kinda numb."
Nu... Numb?!
Enel's eyeballs looked ready to pop out. My Thunder Dragon... just felt numb!?
"Are you kidding me!!?"
Enel's face contorted ferociously. He raised his hand, unleashing an instant ultimate attack, "One Hundred Million Volt El Thor!" (God's Judgment)
Luffy instantly vanished from his spot, reappearing right before Enel in a flash.
Even though Enel managed to redirect his attack direction in time, Luffy, engulfed by the lightning, still struck decisively.
"Gum-Gum Jet Stamp!"
A large yellow sandal slammed hard onto Enel's face, smashing his head into the golden wall. His entire face was directly deformed by the blow, blood and spit flying everywhere.
Savage! Too savage! Reiner watched, his eyelids twitching uncontrollably.
Enel was still too arrogant. When the first Thunder Dragon proved ineffective, he didn't retreat immediately but, refusing to believe it, had to try again.
Years of experience had made him overconfident in his abilities, just like during his fight with Reiner.
But now, Enel had completely abandoned that line of thought.
Luffy's Jet Gatling followed immediately, like a torrential downpour, continuously pounding Enel's body.
His skin split open, flesh mangled, like a ball of dough being relentlessly hammered. Finally, as Luffy retracted his attack, Enel seized the chance to turn elemental and flee.
He hadn't flown more than a few dozen meters before being forced to revert due to his injuries.
"Cough cough cough!"
Thump! Enel crashed, falling several times before landing kneeling on the ground, coughing up blood painfully. He raised his head again to look at Luffy, his eyes filled with terror.
Blue Sea people! They're too terrifying!
