Chapter 89: Final Battlefield, Ark Initiated.
He knew Enel was likely heading off to activate the Ark Maxim. Seeing Luffy just provided a convenient detour.
Just now, he had been suppressing and thrashing Enel, relying on sand's non-conductive properties and Armament Haki to block most attacks.
But Enel's speed was just too damn fast; fighting for so long, it was inevitable he'd get grazed slightly in the process.
Even taking just that one hit felt agonizingly uncomfortable. If not for his extremely powerful physique, the moment he was grazed, he might have collapsed directly. Thinking this, he couldn't help but glance at Luffy.
Fruit counters really are unreasonable. Getting hit by a Thunder Beast like that practically electrocuted him into an idiot; he truly couldn't withstand it. If it had been Zoro, he'd probably be lying flat for a day.
Yet, two hundred million volts hit Luffy, and he acted like nothing happened.
"You two bastards!"
Just then, a loud shout came from nearby. Wiper glared furiously and yelled, "Chatting away by yourselves! Stop looking down on people! Where is Enel now!?"
"Ah, a Shandian. Truly impolite," Reiner sneered coldly. "I know where Enel is, but I just won't tell you. I'll piss you off, you son of a bitch!"
"Bastard!" Wiper's face twisted darkly. Gritting his teeth, he charged forward. "Go die! Despicable Blue Sea scum!"
"Engage... Gear Second!!"
Before Wiper could even reach them, Luffy's figure vanished from his spot, leaving behind wisps of white steam.
The next moment...
Swish!
Luffy instantly appeared at his side, skin flushed red, white steam pouring off his body.
"So fast!" Wiper was instantly alarmed. Before he could react, a sandal, trailing white steam, slammed hard into his face!
"Gum-Gum Jet Stamp!!"
Bang!
Wiper's pupils contracted, the flesh on his face squeezed together as broken teeth flew out with blood. His entire body was instantly sent flying backward, plowing a trench across the ground.
Pushing himself up with his hands, spitting out mouthfuls of blood, Wiper struggled to raise his head, gritting his teeth as he stared at Luffy. The sudden burst of speed and power made him seem like a completely different person from moments ago.
"Enough. I don't want to fight you," Luffy said, deactivating Gear Second. After meeting Wiper, he had learned about the history of the Shandians, about the promise between Liar Noland and their ancestors. That's why he had tried to persuade him to stop.
The real target should be Enel; getting entangled with Wiper was meaningless. Luffy spoke seriously to Wiper:
"Sky Knight old man and the Skypieans have no intention of continuing the fight. The one who instigated all this is Enel. Stop fighting. Our goal is the same."
"He likely went to his Ark. Don't know the exact location, but it's near the Giant Beanstalk," Reiner added for Luffy, then jumped onto the hawk's back. "Let's go. We'll pick up Nami and the Blue and Red Ogres first."
"Ah, let's go."
Luffy leaped up as well. Reiner directed the hawk to take flight, heading back towards the altar.
Fighting at the Ark... He believed Enel absolutely wouldn't run away. If he dares run, I'll smash his ship! Crush the Ark Maxim! To hell with his moon dream!
After the two left, Wiper remained where he was, leaning on his bazooka.
Just then, a beautiful figure rushed out from the woods, calling out worriedly, "Wiper! Are you okay!?"
"Cough... It's Laki. I'm fine," Wiper looked towards the newcomer, shouldered his bazooka, raised his head, and gazed towards the giant beanstalk reaching straight into the heavens in the distance.
"Notify the others. Withdraw from here."
"What about you, Wiper!? Where are you going!?" Laki asked worriedly, watching Wiper head deeper into the forest.
"I'm going to settle things with Enel!" A resolute glint flashed in Wiper's eyes as he charged towards the giant beanstalk without looking back.
Meanwhile, at the Giant Beanstalk in God's Land...
The massive green stalk soared towards the sky, its top disappearing from view.
Beneath the giant beanstalk, in a wide open space, the Ark Maxim rested. A Buddha head cast entirely from gold stood prominently on its deck, directly below which sat a golden throne.
Crackle! Crackle!
Arcs of blue lightning flashed, and Enel's figure materialized onto the golden throne. His expression was pained as he leaned on his golden staff with one hand.
"Puwah!"
He spat out a large mouthful of blood, staining the pure gold seat, gripping the armrest tightly with his other hand.
"Damn it! Damn it! Damn it!"
Enel roared furiously, his face contorted, the sound echoing in the dim space.
Suddenly, his body went limp, and he collapsed directly onto the throne.
After quite some time, he finally calmed down somewhat, a cold, sinister chuckle escaping him.
"Ye hahaha~"
A red glint flashed in Enel's eyes as he laughed maniacally, "Damned Blue Sea people! Perish together with this country!"
"The Ark Maxim, six years in the making, will carry me to the Endless Earth! And you ants... don't even deserve the qualification to survive! Ye hahaha!"
Placing his hands on the golden spheres flanking the throne, lightning, like blue liquid, condensed in Enel's palms.
"Maximum Output! Two Hundred Million Volt Discharge!"
Berserk lightning was guided through two special conductors, vast amounts of electrical current flowing into the Ark Maxim's energy storage device.
Three giant propellers on each side of the Ark began to spin. The massive Ark Maxim actually started to slowly float into the air!
Enel continued discharging electricity into the conductors.
Giant glass tanks filled with a special liquid began to boil and steam. Dark clouds continuously rose from the Ark's huge chimneys.
Looking up at his masterpiece, Enel's eyes grew even colder.
"This is this God's... final gift to you all! Ye hahaha~"
RUMBLE!!!
The Ark's activation caused considerable tremors throughout God's Land. The dark clouds continuously spreading across the sky drew the attention of everyone on the entire island.
In the ruins layer amidst the Giant Beanstalk...
"What is that thing!? A ship?!"
The lost Zoro looked down at the continuously ascending Ark, utterly shocked. "Flying in the sky!?"
"Looks like something bad is about to happen," Sanji remarked, stepping out from behind a moss-covered broken wall.
"Curly Brows! What are you doing here?"
"Shouldn't I be asking you that, Directionally Challenged!?"
A dark cloud appeared over Sanji's head as he couldn't help but curse, "How did you get lost!? And why did you arrive here before me!?"
"Tch. So slow," Zoro scoffed, then asked, "Where's Usopp?"
"Didn't see him. But he should be fine."
Sanji lit a cigarette coolly. "Before I entered the Ordeal, I noticed the Knife-Saw duo and a few other undead following behind him. He probably won't get into trouble."
"So you both came," another voice spoke up. Robin walked up before the two with a smile. "The City of Gold... I found it."
"Oooh~~ As expected of Miss Robin~~" Sanji fawned, rushing over.
High above the forest, a giant hawk flew straight towards the Ark.
"An airship! It's an airship!" Luffy yelled excitedly, pointing at the Ark.
Chopper looked curiously at the darkening sky. "Those dark clouds up there... is it going to rain?"
"No," Nami stated decisively after closing her eyes and sensing the air for a moment. "The wind's humidity isn't right. Those are purely thunderclouds."
"You can tell even that?"
Reiner couldn't help glancing at Nami. He knew it was Enel's doing, but for Nami to discern it just by sensing the air's condition...
This body... so sensitive!
Tsk tsk tsk... Reiner couldn't help letting his imagination run wild.
"I say... are you thinking weird things again?" A dark cloud appeared over Nami's head as she raised a fist, gritting her teeth.
"No! I wasn't!" Reiner denied vehemently, speaking in all seriousness, "I'm definitely not the kind of person you think I am!"
"Heh heh."
"Ahem... Anyway, Enel possesses the ability to control lightning," Reiner said, returning to seriousness and looking towards the Ark.
"Putting on such a big show... there must be a reason. He definitely intends to use those thunderclouds for something... like, for example..."
"Destroying this country?!" Nami finished his sentence, gasping, "Then Conis and the others!? They'd be...!"
"Correct. But don't worry," Reiner replied simply. "The thunderclouds... I should be able to handle them."
