Diandra still had doubts about the man. His demeanor was calm. His tone was respectful, but the way he'd appeared so suddenly—claiming he was sent by "His Majesty"—unsettled her. Her instincts urged caution. Yet, despite her suspicion, he held her hand with surprising gentleness, as though he truly meant no harm.
Myers didn't exactly know what this woman was to their boss, but one thing was clear. She mattered to him. Their boss even threatened them. And the amount of effort and money that he had to use to get her away was no joke.
Once they stepped outside the station, it was already about to get dark. The cold air brushed against her skin. She didn't know that she had been inside the station for hours. Her unease grew stronger. She subtly tried to withdraw her hand from his, ready to confront him if needed—planning her next move if she needed to run.
