Mirelah;
My eyes find Liriel's, which are now wide with fear.
"Step forward," I command, and I see fear explode on her pale face.
Good. She should be afraid.
Very afraid.
I take a step back to give her room, but Liriel remains rooted to her spot.
"I believe my voice is clear enough, Liriel. Step forward."
My voice carries through the hall, and the whispers die down.
I listen to the sound of her shoes against the marble floor as she walks over to me. She stands in front of me and makes a dramatic show of respect by bowing down to me.
"Congratulations on your wedding, Princess Mirelah." She speaks before standing straight, and I stare at her, unable to fake pleasure.
"That's a wonderful dress you're in," I say, and her face takes on the expression of remorse. Remorse I of course know is fake.
