King Damarion blinks at me in astonishment, and my smile at him grows.
I don't want to come off as too daring… not yet. I need to make this a sweet father-in-law and daughter-in-law moment.
That way, I secure my reputation in front of the people and still get what I want.
I gently hold my dress as I walk down the podium to King Damarion, who is staring at me with wide eyes. However, I can see Queen Velnara struggling to hide a smirk.
She understands what I'm up to; needless to say, she's in full support.
When I get in front of King Damarion and take his hands in mine, the people's murmurs increase.
"King Danarion, you're about to become my father-in-law, and I'm about to become your first daughter-in-law. This is my request to you. The best wedding gift to Kealith and me would be if you, yourself, bless our marriage."
I say as I look back up at Kealith. I'm afraid he may not be in support of this, but relief washes over me when I find him smiling. Genuinely!
