Cherreads

Chapter 42 - Chapter 42: Spending billions of credits just for snacks!

"What a pity." She had wanted Silver Wolf to gather some more materials to swap out equipment for the two little cuties.

"Yo, everyone's here, huh? Looks lively."

A cheerful voice rang out, drawing everyone's attention.

"Serval? Why are you here?" Stelle looked at the newcomer in surprise.

During her time in Jarilo, she had learned that Serval usually stayed by her big brother's side or holed up in her little workshop tinkering with research projects that Belobog wouldn't allow.

After all, no one kept her in check around Boss, and no one dared to.

Serval was absolutely living her best life, occasionally even dancing right in front of Cocolia.

-----------------------------

"Can't I come out if there's nothing going on?" Serval chuckled softly.

In front of the desk, Kafka looked at the gun barrel in her hand, pondering whether she could install something similar for Sam, who belonged to Firefly.

"Yo, everyone's here."

At that moment, Bronya happened to pass by with Pela. Seeing that everyone present was someone she knew, she naturally walked over.

"It's Sister Bronya." Clara was very happy to see Bronya.

She hurriedly picked up the weapon parts that had been modified by Svarog on the table and showed them to Bronya.

"Sister Bronya, this was designed by Mr. Svarog and me. It's very powerful."

The petite and adorable Clara held up the weapon parts to report the good news, and her cute appearance made Bronya smile unconsciously.

"Isn't this a coincidence? We were just planning to test the Silvermane Guards' new weapons. Do you want to come along?"

After speaking, Bronya didn't forget to glance at the weapon modified by Svarog.

Very formidable — just from the appearance alone, you could tell these weapons had great power.

It seemed that Svarog's database still had plenty of good stuff, but Bronya didn't mind. After all, Svarog was also a member of Jarilo and, in fact, the oldest member of Jarilo in the true sense.

"Oh, it's finally starting. I've been looking forward to this," Serval said, a smile spreading across her face, one hand on her hip, upon hearing the tests were finally about to begin.

"I would love to go, but she..." March 7th narrowed her eyes at Kafka, who was calm and composed, the corners of her mouth still carrying a faint smile.

"No worries," Bronya had also noticed Kafka.

Although Kafka was the galaxy-renowned Stellaron Hunter, since Godzilla hadn't defeated her on sight, it wasn't something she needed to concern herself with. Besides, the shorty who came along with Kafka had been sticking to Godzilla all this time, doing who-knows-what.

Since even the gods had let them be, her job was to keep an eye on them.

...

"Hey, big guy, it's done."

After pressing the last key, Silver Wolf, full of displeasure, looked up to meet Godzilla's... left eye.

The huge pupil was larger than two Silver Wolves put together. Small as she was, Silver Wolf looked like a firefly under the sun when standing before Godzilla.

Silver Wolf narrowed her eyes slightly, silently shifted to the center, stepped onto the table — well, at least now they could talk on equal footing.

"I've taken care of ten cargo ships from the IPC. When they reach Jarilo, I'll have them dump the goods directly. As for the IPC, don't worry, those booze-hounds and freeloaders won't even notice me."

Being forced to work was one thing, but looking down on those Company folks was another matter entirely.

As a legendary figure in Punklorde, she had that much confidence.

Besides, she hadn't hacked the offerings the IPC sent to the Amber Lord. Given the IPC's size, they would have to swallow this loss in silence.

Godzilla nodded in satisfaction.

"Thud."

"Bang."

Silver Wolf's small figure did a 360-degree midair spin before landing steadily.

It felt like playing on a seesaw.

"Can't you be a little more aware of your own size?!" Silver Wolf raged in frustration, but there was nothing she could do about him.

Her gaze carefully swept over Godzilla's massive body. From Silver Wolf's point of view, she could only see his head, part of his body, and his swaying tail.

During this time, she had matched all the known species in the universe, even cross-referencing Rift creatures, Abundance creatures, and various Anti-Matter Legion data, but still couldn't find any clues related to this big guy.

She could only guess that Godzilla might be connected to the ancient beasts or the Leviathans from before the Dusk Wars.

Because this big guy could eat. A lot.

"Crunch, crunch, crunch."

Watching those precious ores being sent into his mouth one after another, making a crisp crunching sound, Silver Wolf's cheek twitched involuntarily.

Spending billions of credits just for snacks — even she couldn't have imagined living like this.

"I say, now that we've taken care of your business, shouldn't you let us go? Let me remind you, the Stellaron Hunters are not to be trifled with. We've got a particularly fierce member who likes to solve problems with just two loud bangs — you'd better think this through."

"Roarrr..." Mhm, got it.

Godzilla lightly tapped its tail, signaling its understanding.

Seeing this guy's deadpan attitude, like a pig unafraid of boiling water, Silver Wolf couldn't help but sigh.

This mission was truly a case of losing both the land and the soldiers.

Not only did they fail to complete it, but they even had to pitch in and help.

Just then—

Bang!

A deafening explosion echoed through the sky, followed by a wave of heat. The scorching air raised the temperature by several degrees.

Godzilla comfortably rolled over.

For him, even bathing in magma was no big deal — in fact, he even thought magma was a bit too cool.

"Well, damn, with this much firepower, is Jarilo planning to invade the universe?"

Silver Wolf, quick on the draw, pulled down her glasses the moment the explosion sounded and marveled at the mushroom cloud rising in the distance.

Why did it feel like Jarilo was going down a strange path?

Logically, for an ordinary planet, once saved, it should focus on peaceful development. So why was Jarilo so invested in weapons?

But after thinking about the news she'd heard around Jarilo lately, it didn't seem so odd anymore.

First the Rift Creatures, then the Antimatter Legion and the Swarm Disaster, and later even the IPC sent people here to collect debts.

Given the circumstances, Jarilo focusing on weapons was only natural.

...

"Wow, that power is insane." Looking at the mountain range pierced by a gaping hole, March 7th instinctively covered her mouth, and then... her eyes sparkled like stars.

"Heh, this result is better than I expected. Looks like we can move on to the next step." Serval nodded in satisfaction — the outcome of this experiment had far exceeded her expectations.

"With this, Belobog finally has the basic qualification to take control of its own fate."

Bronya's expression was full of emotion. This was a small step for Belobog, but a giant leap for the people of Jarilo.

...

On the Astral Express.

Welt and Himeko, who hadn't returned for quite a while, took the chance to get back on the train.

Even though Kafka and Silver Wolf were still on Jarilo, she believed they'd handle things just fine.

When you're out and about, the thing you need to watch out for most is a bad woman.

"Looks like Jarilo's weapons development has come a long way — to this level, huh." Himeko slightly nodded; military power was the foundation for protecting one's home.

"Ugh~" Just as she was admiring the spark that could be seen from space, a certain conductor's disgruntled voice sounded beside her.

"Himeko the navigator and Welt the passenger, you were gone for so long — do you have any idea how long the conductor has been waiting for you, pom!"

"By the way, where are March 7th and the others?"

Pom-Pom waved it's tiny short arms in protest at the two, not forgetting the three who were missing.

"They're still on Jarilo. We're planning to leave after the people from the Xianzhou Luofu arrive and the talks are settled." Welt replied.

"That long?" Pom-Pom scratched it's head. Himeko noticed that Pom-Pom seemed to have something to say, so she asked.

"Uh, there's actually something going on — the train's Imaginary Energy detection device picked up a rise in Imaginary Energy nearby, and also detected some signs of the Destruction Path."
