If they failed to find Uranus first, there was still one major advantage—
They would still have the right to choose treasures first from the Valley of the Gods.
And in the future…
They could always find a way to betray Rocks.
If the opportunity arose, they could even steal Uranus and claim its power for themselves.
In short, this mission to Mariejois was pure profit.
There was no downside—only opportunities.
The Others Get Greedy
"Captain Rocks, I don't think it's wise to send only five of them on this mission," Ochoku suddenly said.
Despite the danger of infiltrating Mariejois, the rewards in the Valley of the Gods were too tempting to ignore.
Hearing that the first to complete the mission would have the first pick of the treasure, John's mind changed instantly.
"Shiki, Linlin, I think you two are right," he admitted with a sly grin. "More people means a higher chance of success."
"Captain Rocks, let me go too!" Silver Axe quickly added.
They had initially mocked Ayr and the others, relieved that such a dangerous task had fallen onto them instead.
But now?
Now that they realized the treasures at stake, they were desperate to join in.
However—
Rocks Rejects Them
Rocks' expression remained cold.
"Enough." His voice cut through the room like a blade.
"The task of retrieving the Eternal Pose will be handled by Ayr, Whitebeard, Shiki, Linlin, and Kaido."
He turned his back to the crew. "It's decided. There's no more discussion."
A heavy silence fell over the room.
The greed in John and Silver Axe's eyes dimmed slightly, but their resentment only grew.
Ayr and the others nodded firmly.
"Yes, Captain Rocks!"
The Mission Begins
Before they left, Rocks made sure his chosen five had everything they needed.
He handed Ayr 3 billion Berries, eight Devil Fruits, and one Mythical Zoan Devil Fruit—a priceless treasure.
Golden Lion, Charlotte Linlin, and Whitebeard each demanded 700 million Berries from John, forcing him to pay up before the mission.
With their funds secured, Rocks had boats prepared for the team.
The five wasted no time—they boarded the ship and immediately set sail for Mariejois.
Meanwhile—
John, Silver Axe, and Ochoku watched them depart.
A feeling of bitter jealousy grew in their hearts.
Especially John.
In just two days, he had lost 4.1 billion Berries and three Devil Fruits.
Now, he didn't even have the right to choose treasures first at the Valley of the Gods.
It was infuriating.
Meanwhile—At Mariejois
At the same time, in the Holy Land Mariejois…
Deep within the highest halls of the government, a single man approached a massive door.
This man was Brownie, a high-ranking Marine official.
The door creaked open—revealing a grand chamber filled with luxury.
Inside, five men sat in the shadows.
The Five Elders.
A Tense Report
As soon as Brownie stepped forward, the scarred old man resting on a velvet couch raised an eyebrow.
"You're here again, Brownie?" he said lazily.
His scarred fingers tapped against the armrest.
"We've been hunting the Rocks Pirates for weeks. Has there been any progress?"
The room grew heavy with silence.
Brownie hesitated—then shook his head.
"...No. We still haven't located Ayr."
For a brief moment, there was only silence.
Then—
The long-haired elder's expression darkened.
"So you're saying… you came all this way… without bringing any useful news?"
Brownie swallowed hard.
For years, the Five Elders had ordered Marine forces to eliminate Ayr—yet he remained untouchable.
And now, the Rocks Pirates were moving strangely, each cadre acting independently.
Their target was unclear, but they suspected it had something to do with the Poneglyphs.
This was a golden opportunity.
If Marine forces could track Ayr's movements, they could eliminate him before he grew too powerful.
Yet after all this time…
Marine forces had failed to even locate him.
It was infuriating.
The Five Elders Are Furious
"You've disappointed us far too many times," the elder with long white hair sneered.
"If it weren't for the fact that Marine lacks a competent Fleet Admiral, your pathetic failures would've cost you your position already."
Brownie said nothing, merely lowering his head.
He knew it was true.
His performance had been terrible.
The Five Elders were not forgiving men—they would dispose of him the moment he outlived his usefulness.
The elder in a black suit glared coldly.
"Enough of this. Tell us why you're here."
Brownie took a deep breath.
Then, he spoke.
The Rocks Pirates Are Moving
"According to our latest intelligence… all of Rocks' top officers have returned to their main fleet."
The room stilled.
The elder with the katana leaned forward. "Why?"
Brownie's face was grim.
"A few days ago, we intercepted information suggesting that the Rocks Pirates are searching for an Ancient Weapon."
The words sent a shockwave through the room.
Even the Five Elders—some of the most powerful figures in the world—paused.
"An Ancient Weapon?"
If Rocks was truly seeking an Ancient Weapon, the balance of power in the world could shift drastically.
This wasn't just a threat.
This was potential catastrophe.
A Dangerous Revelation
One of the elders muttered under his breath.
"Poseidon hasn't been born yet…"
Another elder frowned.
"As for Pluton, we've spent centuries tracking it… and we still haven't found it. I doubt the Rocks Pirates could succeed where we've failed."
But then—
The elder with long straight hair stroked his beard.
"...That leaves Uranus."
The room grew eerily quiet.
The elder in black robes spoke slowly.
"But Uranus… was hidden by Lord Imu. Not even we know where it was placed."
He turned toward the others.
"Is it possible that the Rocks Pirates… have found a Poneglyph leading to Uranus?"
The long-haired elder narrowed his eyes.
"Now that you mention it… Lord Imu did, at one point, leave a clue to Uranus' location—engraved into an ancient Poneglyph."
For centuries, the World Government had worked tirelessly to suppress the truth of the Poneglyphs.
They had gone to great lengths to eliminate anyone who could decipher them.
And now—
It seemed that Rocks had gotten too close.
The Five Elders exchanged glances.
The tension in the room grew unbearable.
They had to act—fast.
